ok, i got to the trading screen on one account then suddenly "oh noes the trading session has expired" how can i fix this crap?
You don't, you wait 'till valve fixes it on their end. Steam trading is still very buggy for a lot of people.
You don't, you wait 'till valve fixes it on their end. Steam trading is still very buggy for a lot of people.
ugh ok then why did they replace the ingame tf2 trading with steam trading in the first place?
Does this item manager http://sim.didrole.com/ melt strange weapons and not tradable items? Can it be banned?
I can choose to just craft yellow weapons, right?.. So how do I use this.. do I have to use a sandbox with it?
Correct. Read my previous short tutorial.
I have 20 accounts and I can get the job done in 2-3 hours, including trading. My tip: get one of the tf2 item managers that were linked in this thread, and put it to use. If you're using sandboxie, here's what you need to do: a) start your account in normal mode, using a .bat that contains: C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\batch\ACCOUNTLOGIN.bat" b) load up your favorite tf2 item manager, with a .bat that contains this: start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\Tools\item_manager.exe" Make sure the steam account and the tool load up in the same sandbox, not a different one, because the tool won't be able to load up your inventory via steam api query. All set, just craft your metal, and when you're done, send stuff on main or whatever. Easy? Indeed...
If you don't load the tool within the same sandboxie your account started on, it cannot call the SteamAPI and display your items for melting/deleting/whatever...
Does this item manager http://sim.didrole.com/ melt strange weapons and not tradable items? Can it be banned?
No it's not banable. The makers of such programs have asked Valve and they say it's completely fine unless it is used to "spawn" items ingame.
Correct. Read my previous short tutorial.
I can't just use it without sandbox? Like I can log in and out.
you can chose which account it logs in to by running it in a certain sandbox
Oh I can't just login myself?
Aw man, this sucks. I can't use Steam Item Manager without sandboxie. [editline]25th February 2012[/editline] Beautiful. Just beautiful. But.. I wish we could 'lock' some weapons. Any item manager with that? What the heck. Did Tf2 change? I auto crafted and Natascha and Brass Beast would't craft into scrap? Along with other craftable combinations? [editline]25th February 2012[/editline] Hey, we don't need to run it in sandboxie. Just login normally and start up the manager. Same results. [editline]25th February 2012[/editline] It doesn't craft everything possible.. dang it.
The Item Manager doesn't craft all possibilities. Why.
The Item Manager doesn't craft all possibilities. Why.
Error, you've done an incredible job of shitting up this thread with your failings. Hell, half the thread is nothing but you struggling to make something work, begging people to tell you how things work, and bitching that things don't work. I know it's hard, but use your brain for once. You just come across as some lazy ass 13 year old who can't be arsed to ever think. Literally, when I think of posting recent discoveries of mine in this thread, I opt not to, solely because it would kill me a little inside to help someone so inept, and further accelerate the death of the TF2 economy. If it's going to die, I'd really prefer it wasn't to tards like you. Hell, I hope Valve implements IP and hardware checks and bans solely to stop lazy fools like you, anything to raise the bar on running multiple accounts beyond the level of anybody as annoying and clueless as yourself.

But then I realized how true this was. I've actually been working on a program (similar to MAID) that would "handle" these batch files (it would run them as CMD prompts from inside the program) allow you to change all Idle parameters on the fly, reset bots on internet disconnect, and launch the item manager from within the sandbox of the account with the click of a single button. Then I read your post and was thoroughly convinced that releasing that to the public would be a 'bad move'. Right now I've got it Jerry-rigged to start batch files (With their file locations hard coded into the program) and check to see if the internet is disconnected (or if your IP has changed, works wonderfully for dynamic IP's) on a hard coded timer-interval. I'm currently working on figuring out the best method to save account data, saving to a txt file seems extremely inelegant; I think after that implementing everything else would be an absolute breeze. So everybody thank Error for helping to convince me that there are too many idiots in the TF2 community to trust them with this kind of tool.
I've actually been working on a program (similar to MAID)
I wouldn't really bother about it. Stop asking for stuff, as I said 1-2 months ago try figure it out yourself. It's the only way you will learn.

And quite frankly, the more intelligent people work to dumb down this process and simplify it, the faster you'll see the TF2 economy go to shit. Rest assured, you'll see the days where refined isn't worth hardly anything. It'll all balance out somewhere around (read: below) the cost of electricity just to run a bunch of idle accounts. It'll be interesting to see whether that makes everything cost ridiculous amounts of refined, or whether increased supply of all droppable items will just make everything super cheap and affordable. Curious times ahead. Unless of course Valve steps in, which I presume is inevitable, and may be a motivator on what they mentioned here: http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=7254 The clearest winners in this currently are Valve. They collect $5 on every account. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they make as much off new idle account creation as they do off of the store itself these days. And they entirely control what drops and what doesn't, so it they can easily (and on a whim) destroy the value of idle accounts.

They'd somehow need to 'validate' kills/caps as being valid but it would definitely add to the value of the game.
I really hope they replace the current system with a "performance" based system. They'd somehow need to 'validate' kills/caps as being valid but it would definitely add to the value of the game.
It's pretty much impossible, tbh. They can make things much more difficult, but there's literally no way they can possibly determine whether kills and things are genuine or not, as if needed, people would just create TF2 bots and spoof IP's by running VM's and routing each VM's traffic through Tor. They couldn't eliminate the whole "idle account" thing, but I do agree a performance based item drop system would be a significant improvement on what they've got currently. TF2 raises a lot of interesting questions in general. We -the players- have created an entire economy out of TF2 items. How can Valve approach a TF3 now? (should they choose to make one?) The uproar from the community will be huge if they don't provide a means to port all your current assets over to the new game. However, if they do, then they're basically forced to design the game in a certain way. In many ways, they've backed themselves into a (super profitable) corner.
I'm pretty sure all items will get ported to TF3, it'll be the same backpack. Initiating a new economy (like they pretend to do with Dota 2) and achieve success will be very hard. We all saw how Portal 2 failed.

I don't own the game and haven't played it, so I'm probably missing something pretty significant here, but isn't it just a single-player campaign or co-op online with a friend? What could you possibly get to put into a portal 2 backpack? Badges of completion\distinction, sure... but that's about it.

It's only purpose is to customize an appearanse of the co-op player to make each one of them as unique as possible. Nothing more. I don't see a 'fail' in this case.
AHAHAHA. Homoesexuals. That's cool. [editline]Fuck all of you douchebags.[/editline] What the heck. Wrong thread. So I used the item manager in the sandbox and it doesn't craft every possible thing.
16 years old bet 5€
People like him make it clear where you get this stereotype from.
i found his facebook
Explains it all.
You're all being no better than him. Ignore him and advance the thread Also I've fully converted to TF2Idler. Even though I know how to create the batch files and junction points and do all the manual stuff, TF2Idler just makes it infinitely quicker at managing it. The fact that it also allows you to log your item drops in a gorgeous way set the deal for me completely. Just wanna thank the OP and raBBish though regardless since I do apply the stuff I learnt here to good use elsewhere, it really has been that helpful.

He just asked a few questions and now he's being flamed by you guys. It really is sad how one guy bashes him and all of you just start attacking him. Bandwagon effect in motion.
