Also I've fully converted to TF2Idler. Even though I know how to create the batch files and junction points and do all the manual stuff, TF2Idler just makes it infinitely quicker at managing it. The fact that it also allows you to log your item drops in a gorgeous way set the deal for me completely. Just wanna thank the OP and raBBish though regardless since I do apply the stuff I learnt here to good use elsewhere, it really has been that helpful.
I eyed up TF2 idler, but it looks like I lose the finesse I've got currently going, but I do like the log feature. With that said, I'm planning to just write my own logging program that'll do the same with what I've currently got, and put it into a more useful form.
I do have to actually try the program though. I doubt it'll fill my needs, as I've done tweaks on my own to minimize HDD usage and things, but it's definitely worth a trial run.

You know gullible isn't in the dictionary?
What the hell do you mean "You're all being no better than him."
He just asked a few questions and now he's being flamed by you guys.
It really is sad how one guy bashes him and all of you just start attacking him.
Bandwagon effect in motion.
Can you explain the fact that 3 pages of the thread are questions from him?
He just asked a few questions...

Chuckled.

Yeah tf2 idler is neat. But AFAIK it won't reset idles after a DC which is a deal breaker for me.
In other news I got a series 30 on one of my idles. One of the greatest moments of my life, not going to lie.
To anyone wishing to convert there full OS to Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Like me) Sandboxie will not work. I installed Windows 7 on another partition to run my idle accounts and any incompatible games (None so far but we will see.)
I'd recomend you to do the same or just install Windows 8 on another partition and keep Windows 7 as your main OS.
Just a heads up :3
Especially one with literally no compelling features...
why would you even use an unfinished OS as your main os?
Not sure. It works nicely and I do have EVERYTHING backed on another harddrive. I don't see what can go wrong?
Also Windows 8 is basically just a prettier version of Windows 7. Same core to it.
How much iddling accounts do you have per one session and what PC configuration? i can't run more then 24 accounts, because the desktop get crashed with win32k.sys explorer.exe 0x3b BSOD ;-( (i have 16 Gb RAM, 4 core 3.3 Ghz CPU)
Looks like this is Windows resource limit.

I run 8 at a time with 3 gbs left over for TF2/WoW.
:Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 720qm - Clocked at 3.6 ghz - 4 core + hyper threading
GPU: ATI Radeon Mobility Series 5650
RAM: 8gbs DDR3
HDD: Transfers at 30+ mbs a second.
Yeah... Also this is a laptop if you didn't notice.
Not sure how to help with the maximum allocation for that process. Just try running them all in Administrator. Also try something like Gamebooster. I always run it when I want to run a game while idling. Also a memory cleaner doesn't hurt.
I can run up to 12 accounts on my rig, but man does it eat RAM like crazy. Out of my 8 I only get 1 GB left over for use.
I need more statistical information. Anyone able to run more than 20 + accounts?
I need more statistical information. Anyone able to run more than 20 + accounts?
There's ways around it. But I don't feel like advising Russian RMT'ers, since it leads down a dangerous road.

i've posted about 20+ accounts before:

What config do you have?
UP: Idea with the VM failed. Numerous errors when i run client and failure of component video driver.
I think that found the cause of my disasters, but I have no vedeo cards on hand to check it out. Please, can someone to check the consumption of video memory with runned 10 + accounts ?

Thanks. Yeap, this is lack of video memory (for me).
I can run 10 accounts in a virtual machine that has 3gb of ram

:) and that's only 1 acc
Nice salvaged crate. :) Now if you're reveal how you got RAM usage so low. :P
I swear my drop config isn't working for me anymore. I'm not running it in a VM, I can't really be bothered installing and setting one up even though I have the resources for it.
The batch script that is supposed to launch in sandboxie does this
start "" /low "T:\TF2_1\Steam.exe" -login REDACTED REDACTED -applaunch 440 -textmode -novid -nohltv -nosound -noipx -nojoy -nopreload -sw -replay_enable 0 -maxplayers 2 -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest +sv_password REDACTED
But, even if I leave it running for a few hours I'll get nothing. If I login to that account and actually play a game myself I'll get drops. Any ideas?
So, how do you get it set up where the accounts joining will automatically be put on a team and assigned a class?

How do you get the memory usage so low? What is in your idle.cfg?
it seems he started the same account 6 times
I do not think he did becasue when you look for that name "haloreach1986" on steam community, you find two results. Then you also find a profile of someone named Zaya, on their friends list there are 5 accounts named "haloreach1986"
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Fayez543/friends
it seems he started the same account 6 times
No, I am running 6 accounts with the same name.
My Idle.cfg is the one in TF2 idle which is
-textmode -nosound -low -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +sv_lan 1 -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest
Every time I try to start the idlers, each of them try to start validating files, and when they finally finish it says that the steam servers are unavailable.
The FAQ in the OP says that I should only update with 1 TF2 (I assume my main account). Did I accidentally update with one of the other ones, and is that what broke it?
It's getting rather pathetic...
I get about 10-11 items on my free accounts, while on premium ones, barely 7-8.
Some of them won't get shit even after a 14hr session of idling.
Fucking valve with its piss-ant drop system.
P.S. One of the small methods of lowering memory usage is to minimize all tf2 instances to the taskbar. Try it. It works for me, on vmware...

Man I find I get heaps and heaps of drops on my primary premium acc. Though I think that's probably due to the fact your drop cap stacks up to a maximum of a fortnight if you don't play, and I seem to play bi-weekly or less so that might be why.
I did get two Pyromancer's Masks dropped in a row this week :) (and sweet fuck all on my idling acc)
Anyone tried running like a X# slot server in one instance, then having your other instances just connect to it as clients via lan IP? I did this last night and didn't get any drops, but my server account is probably maxed out... however, my 2nd account only got 8 drops (one was a crate), and my other two accounts only got 9 drops (one from each account was a crate) this week; so I don't know if they're supposed to get more drops or not... I'm going to run the 2nd account as a server today to see if it gets any more drops; if it does, then I'll be assuming that connecting as a client via lan IP doesn't work. What this does do is save a lot on memory, like 300 MB per instance. So, it's possible one could open up their router port forwarding and connect to their remote IP to the first server instance and save on memory usage, if the lan IP doesn't do it for drops.
Tip for anyone not getting drops: changelevel to the same map every hour or so. It'll update your item schema, and seems to give me more drops in my testing experience.

Yes, i do that to save some ram, and I still get drops, probably your accounts just disconnect after a while.

How do you changelevel in textmode ?
