Do you make realistic breaks? (Let one group idle for x Hours, then switch and let the others Idle and so on)
yeah i idle through the night, so theres around 12 hours break between each cluster idling
yeah i idle through the night, so theres around 12 hours break between each cluster idling
Weird. Should work well... weekly limit? By the way, isn't that what company dashboards are ment to be used for?

Do you make realistic breaks? (Let one group idle for x Hours, then switch and let the others Idle and so on)
That really makes no difference, it's based on time, and it seems the TIME is random not the item drops. Some accounts will just get drops for 6 hours while others can get drops for 9 hours.
Weird. Should work well... weekly limit? By the way, isn't that what company dashboards are ment to be used for?
Company dashboard? also, whats the screenshot of? can't quite make it out? and no the weekly limit is just that, a weekly limit - i'm talking 0 hits on some of these accounts for the whole week.
So I've been hearing that only 2 steam accounts can have the same credit card used on them. Using the card on any other account gives you a steam error. I've also heard that waiting 30 days after using the card on 2 accounts, lets you use it again on other accounts. Are any of these true?

So if that's true, use the CC trough paypal.

Paypal doesn't block you, you can use the same paypal account (credit card via paypal) over and over again with no restrictions ***Update on my seemingly restricted drop**** last night cluster 4 yeilded full drops (10-13 drops on each account) after 10 hours of idling so it seems everything is back to normal I did notice i had to retry a couple of the accounts to get them to connect to the item server, i'll try to replicate it and give screenshots so you guys know what to look out for in future - but it was basically telling me that i was in offline mode (i wasn't) and would need to restart in order to connect
Use paypal with my card, cheers guys.
Is the Item server offline? No drops for 2 hours... (on new accounts). Suspicious.
Is the Item server offline? No drops for 2 hours... (on new accounts). Suspicious.
Nope, I've been getting drops.
Can anyone help me to understand this please?
3.Using batch files for easy startup: We need 2 batch files per account. Idle and Login. -Create a .txt file with start /low H:\"STEAMFOLDER"\Steam.exe -login ACCOUNT YOURPASSWORD -applaunch 440 -textmode -novid -nosound -noipx -nojoy -nopreload -sw -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest
Is "H" referring to the directory of "STEAMFOLDER", so for me it might be C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe, or is it part of a command? Is "STEAMFOLDER" the main steamfolder, that which contains steamapps, or is it one of the folders in which the shortcuts are contained? We replace ACCOUNT and YOURPASSWORD with our respective password, yes?
4.Create a .txt file with start /low H:\"YOURSTEAMFOLDER"\Steam.exe -login ACCOUNT PASSWORD and make it a .bat file again. This will be needed for trading and everything besides idling.
Again, should "H:\"YOURSTEAMFOLDER"\" be C:\Program Files\Steam\ for me? (my main, steamapps containing directory) Or does it refer to the individual steam folders with shortcuts we've created for each idle account?
5.Create a batch file with: start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\batch\ACCOUNTIDLE.bat" This will run the idle batch files we made before in their respective sandboxes. It should like this whe it's done:
I'm guessing "batch" is where the bat files that we've created were placed, with "BOXNAME" being the name of their respective sandbox? Any help is greatly appreciated!:zoid:
Nope, I've been getting drops.
It was offline briefly last night just before the update, but came back a few moments later
This is trying to point to the steam.exe for that particular idle account For example if you have: "C:\farm\IdleAccount1\Steam.exe" "C:\farm\IdleAccount2\Steam.exe" "C:\farm\IdleAccount3\Steam.exe" and so on
We replace ACCOUNT and YOURPASSWORD with our respective password, yes? Last week it was a "Error: Not connect to Steam" and had to restart the entire affected accounts. After the update it's giving a "Bad challenge", but don't need to restart Steam to reconnect. Deleting the contents of that specific accounts Sandbox seems to have fixed it.
Did you try copying the contents of the original folder to the alternative once more? It helped me once.
Yes. I do a simple copy paste. I've deleted the folder contents, including the mklink shortcut. I've then recreated this mklink symbiotic link, and recopied the contents. The kicker is, I've gotten this to work before, but then there was a steam client update, so I recopied all the files except the steamapps folder. Now it doesn't work. In the steam forums, this issue is explained as a incorrect transfer of the steam client away from the install folder. Not sure why sandboxie doesn't ork after recopying though. I've giving the sandboxie directory file access under these configurations Steam.exe Direct folder access to alternate Steam install Full folder access to alternate Steam instal All programs: Direct folder access to alternate Steam install Full folder access to alternate Steam instal Steam alongside all programs: Direct folder access to alternate Steam install Full folder access to alternate Steam install I am beginning to think I will need to uninstall my steam client and games. I will try that and report back unless there are other ideas further along the thread *************************** Ok, uninstalling steam and reinstalling it didn't work. Time to reinstall Sandboxie I guess. Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to write to the current Steam application folder HAs anyone had this error, but fixed it besides copying the files again, or running programs as an administrator?
Hope this helps
Much obliged :downs:
I notice that this recently started with the new updates. Deleting the entire content of each Sandbox will cause all accounts to require Steam Guard's key activation again.
If you or someone else can figure out which specific contents need to be deleted please post it. Unless you mean deleting the actual sandbox and creating a new one, in which case yes it should.
No it doesn't. Unless you mean deleting the actual sandbox and creating a new one, in which case yes it should.
Last time I deleted the contents of a sandbox, I had to reactivate each account... I didn't delete the sandbox itself.
Last time I deleted the contents of a sandbox, I had to reactivate each account... I didn't delete the sandbox itself.
That's odd. I delete the contents of all my sandboxes after every idling session or update and I've never had to activate again.
Thanks for the guide, I've used this with 10 accounts for around 7 months now, however now I am getting an error when I try to launch two of the accounts. I can get steam up and running, but when I launch tf2, all I get is a error box that says "Failed to load the launcher DLL: %1 is not a valid Win32 application." I already tried reinstalling tf2, didn't help. Any ideas?
sandboxie with the name "H" doesnt work wtf??
I am not getting this working, and am ready to consider other programs. Can anyone please recommend me either a solution to my problem or another program that may make this a reality?
I'm working on a program to handle the creation and management of all idle accounts - all you have to do is install sandboxie and create a sandbox for each idle account - my app will handle the rest As i'm working on this in my spare time development is very slow, currently in closed beta (myself and a close friend running thru all the bugs) im hoping to have the first public release very soon
What's the complete command to just tell a sandboxed TF2 to reconnect to a server, without opening a duplicated TF2 window?
Alright I screwed something up with the steamapps folder and the mklinking because now steam doesn't recognize my entire library of games as installed and keeps asking me to re download tf2 on all of my alt accounts. Normally I would just download the tf2 files and call it a day but I don't have much space on my hard drive (like < 30GB) and I would rather not have 20 tf2 installations (plus my internet connection is unbelievably slow, like 1.5mbps down at best). So basically what I'm looking to accomplish here is: -fix my steamapps folder and mklinking so that I only need one installation of tf2 -fix the library on my main account so it recognizes installed games -finish setting up the 4 test accounts I created If someone could hold my hand through this process it would be greatly appreciated. [Also it should be noted that the syntax for mklinking as posted in the guide is incorrect (or at least it was for me), if you keep receiving errors about not being able to create the link because the file already exists, try mklink /d "I:\steam\steam 1\steamapps" "I:\steam\Steam\steamapps" (the first directory being my 1st alt's steam folder, the second being the original steam installation) the key with the syntax here is (and this is poorly explained by microsoft) for whatever reason, mklinking requires making a new folder (in this case I:\steam\steam 1\steamapps was the new folder) I hope this helps anyone having this issue/prevents others from having it] [editline]9th July 2012[/editline]
What's the complete command to just tell a sandboxed TF2 to reconnect to a server, without opening a duplicated TF2 window?
Honestly I have absolutely no idea, but if there is a dedicated reconnect command, you'll find it here. My best guess would be the command to connect in the first place (+map {mapname} seems to be the command responsible for connecting, so maybe just +map {whatever map you're trying to reconnect to}?) with a modifying parameter. Hope this was helpful!
Just got this error: "STEAMAUTH: Client Kailarious recieved failure code 1". Any fixes?
I've been using this method for a while, and today when I'm about to do my weekly session, I got this on all three of my accounts when trying to go into text mode.
Executing listen server config file listenserver.cfg Initializing Steam libraries for secure Internet server Failed to load Steam Service ServiceStart: failed to start
Then after about a minute or two it automatically closes. I am not exactly sure what is causing it. I use this as the launch option:
-textmode -nosound -nopix -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw -maxplayers 2 +sv_lan 1 +map "itemtest"
Anyone have any idea what may be causing this?
