Dont you run out of porta after 15th account? Do you have multiple server accounts?

Can you share your command line for server & one of connecting clients?

The old method involved copies of TF2 files which consumed a lot of HDD space. The new method uses links to one shared steamapps folder for all accounts and requires Windows 7 or Windows Vista.

1.Make a copy of Steam without the steamapps folder for each account.
a.Decide your main steamapps folder. Generally it should be the one with most games.
b.If you want, you can move the steamapps folder somewhere else and rename it (mine is D:\Games\Steam for example).
c.Remove all the other steamapps folders.
d.Open cmd.exe as an administrator.
e.Navigate into each Steam folder without steamapps and run the following:

mklink /D steamapps <main steamapps path>

For example:

cd C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Steam
mklink /D steamapps "D:\Games\Steam"

Or if you didn't move steamapps:

cd C:\Idle\Steam1
mklink /D steamapps "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps"

f.A shortcut should appear, named steamapps. Double-clicking it should show you the contents of the main steamapps folder.

You should now have one main steamapps folder and one shortcut to it for each alt. Now you can run all the idle accounts while only maintaining a single steamapps folder.

2.Create a sandbox for each account, name them after the account it belongs to and apply the settings mentioned above to every sandbox.

3.Using batch files for easy startup: We need 2 batch files per account. Idle and Login.
-Create a .txt file with

start /low H:\"STEAMFOLDER"\Steam.exe -login ACCOUNT YOURPASSWORD -applaunch 440 -textmode -novid -nosound -noipx -nojoy -nopreload -sw -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest

and make it a .bat file. This will will be needed later for launching TF2 for a specific account directly in idle mode.

4.Create a .txt file with

start /low H:\"YOURSTEAMFOLDER"\Steam.exe -login ACCOUNT PASSWORD

and make it a .bat file again. This will be needed for trading and everything besides idling.

5.Create a batch file with:

start C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\batch\ACCOUNTIDLE.bat"

This will run the idle batch files we made before in their respective sandboxes. It should like this whe it's done:

6.Make another batch with the Login Batches.

C:\"Program Files"\Sandboxie\Start.exe /box:BOXNAME "H:\batch\ACCOUNTLOGIN.bat"

If you run Idle.bat from step 5 it will launch TF2 instances in idle mode for every account you made batches for. It takes 14 minutes for me until all 8 accounts are fully loaded and idling. You may get freezes or slowdowns if your computer is too weak. The Login.bat from step 6 logs on your accounts and lets you start TF2 in normal mode for trading or whatever you want.

You are now set for advanced TF2 idling. Tweak around the batches and settings to get used to it and make your own modifications and/or improvements. Additional information for idling settings [url=http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Idling#Methods]can be found here.[/url] I recommend using an idle config even with textmode because it lowers memory use even further. 1. So first things first, I don't understand the "1e" there, could somebody please help me hand to hand xd.

2. How many idling accounts can I run with these specs?

You quoted practically the whole post, it is annoying. Especially when multiple people do it and the only part you needed "help" was with the first few sentences of your quote. 1e is where you link your spare steamapps folder to your idle accounts. (So you share one folder with 11gb of game files to all your idle accounts). You do this so you save HDD space. In order to do that, basically you make the directory of the cmd prompt, then do that cmd.

Everytime I try to make one it just says the: the directory couldn't be made. It exists already.

Okay I am trying to setup a symlink with sandboxie to do multiple idle accounts for him. I had one hell of a time getting access permissions for fucking symlinks, but I finally got it.

Anyhow, I currently am up to the point of trying to get the sandboxed instances of steam to recognize the symlinked steamapps folder, but I'm hitting a brick wall here. Right now, whenever I grant direct access to C:\, when I try to launch steam, it tells me that steam does not have access permissions to write to its own folder. If I remove direct access permissions to C:\, then steam can launch and I can try to login, but upon login, I am told that steam cannot establish a connection to servers--which from past experiences, just means it failed to get read/write access to the symlinked steamapps folder.

So, I'm at a loss, can one of you help me out and get me past this jam? The only other access setting I've done to each instance is make sure that drop rights from power users is unchecked, I haven't modified low level access or anything similar.

Nevermind, if I specified my access permissions to be specifically to the stock steam install (not sandboxed), then it works without an issue. I was granting too many permissions with full C:\ write access, evidently.

I've created a txt string to implement that symlink process easier.

All you have to do is create a .bat file and imput the contents pasted here:

Let's say you installed the main steam folder in
D:\Steam

but you share your steamapps files from another folder, just as the tutorial states
D:\Steamapps

Well, in the pasted example, I've created folders 001 to 030 for each steam account and populated them with the steam files neded.

Clicking the bat file (with the added strings) will create symlinks to the common Steamapps folder without fuss.

Already tested this and working properly.

Give it a shot.

P.S. The pastebin strings will remain for further/future use by everyone. OP should sticky that URL in the main tutorial section.

Note: One account at a time works fine, be it sandboxie or normal one, it only appears when trying to start up a steam in sandboxie whilst having normal steam open as well.

I've had this problem for a while but, almost every time I idle. The third and forth idle account always time out, out of the batch. When this happens it's always the third and forth never the seventh or second etc.

cclient means your internet connection is most likely unstable and you are loosing connection to steam

Ever since I installed sandboxie and got a legit crack (no pun intended) my computer has gotten blue screens, it can't defrag anymore, and its completely messed up everything. When I run defrag, it stops on the sandboxie file and then it just blue screens too.

What gives? I asked a tech guy who has been in business for 15+ years and he says, literally, "sandboxie sucks, you should get rid of that ASAP"

Are you crafting weapon drops on free accounts ? What happens when invertory is full? Does drops go to waste or stuck till you clean up..?

I am crafting weapons and deleting crates once a backpack is full using steamitemmanager, your backpack can hold up to 52 items, after that point you won't get any new drops
