Advanced Mann-Conomy: How to idle with multiple accounts
So... you didn't move your steamapps folder then?
-------------------
I am really confused as to how to do this exactly. Is it better to link to the default steamapps folder or am I supposed to move my steamapps folder somewhere else and link to that? If someone has a directory structure of a functioning idle farm (no validating loops for every single account) can you please post how you have it laid out? Thanks a ton!
It doesn't matter where your steamapps folder is.
It doesn't matter where your steamapps folder is.
Thank you for the reply, I didn't think so but every single time I try to idle all of my accounts, Steam wants to validate each one. I've read through this whole thread several times and tried all of these methods of fixing this issue but it's still doesn't help. :(
I have been trying to find a program that automatically trades your idle account's stuff to your main account. Does such a program exist?
I have a paid version of sandboxie but I can't renew the license I'm stuck with the free version. I can't activate the license because for some reason I can't connect to sandboxie.com.

Chech your hosts file for any mention of sandboxie. You can find the file here:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

the Text idle i keep getting disconnect: kicked dude to inactivity... how to fix this?
Every single time I goto idle my accounts I have to 1. update steam and 2. Validate steam files. The accounts can load up tf2 fine un-sandboxed so It has got to be something to do with sandboxie or something. This is just turning out to be more trouble than it's worth and I'm feeling like I've just wasted $50.

did you change the launch parameters?
Everybody, I need a piece of advice: is someone still running that "f2p to premium in Russia" activation service? I buy my games with CC so it would be a waste to forcibly add Steam Wallet funds...
I have two to activate, so someone either give me some advice or PM if they are offering such a service :)

I want the same pm if anyone does that.I can pay by paypal or tf2 keys,i have ~2 pages of sourceop rep for cash trades.
Every time I start my TF2 i have to validate files, after that its fine but every time I close that steam and reopen i have to validate :(
What happens when you get this?
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServersDisconnected logged on = 0
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServerConnectFailure logged on = 0
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServersConnected logged on = 1
Does this mean I've actually reconnected and will continue to receive drops? Or would I have to terminate and restart the whole process again?
This just happened to me!!! And it seems that I'm not continuing to receive drops...which is quite annoying.
My computer is shit and it took me over an hour to launch 10 instances of hl2.exe (about 8 minutes for each).
Btw, I am running listen server currently, but I assume if I was running srcds, I would be forced to restart anyway (the clients not the server)?
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServersDisconnected logged on = 0
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServerConnectFailure logged on = 0
Assigned anonymous gameserver Steam ID [].
VAC secure mode disabled.
Connection to game coordinator established.
Current item schema is up-to-date with version F233DD5C.
tf_server_identity_account_id not set; not logging into registered account
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServerConnectFailure logged on = 0
CTFGCClientSystem::PostInitGC
CTFGCClientSystem - adding listener
CClientSteamContext OnSteamServersConnected logged on = 1
Connection to game coordinator established.
Current item schema is up-to-date with version F233DD5C.
Any ideas guys? Because this is very likely to happen again (Internet is shit)
edit: 1 more thing - I swear I made an account here a long time ago (a bit after this thread was created), and I even posted in here, suggesting the use of srcds for lower memory use. I even remember seeing the original post prior to it being edited with mklink instructions (not sure if I had created account by then). I tried really hard to find that account but could not find it. Is it possible it was deleted for inactivity, along with its posts (as I can't seem to find them either)? I tried many things in the forgot password thing as well.
edit2: I found the account. Didn't expect that username. Anyway pretty proud of the fact that I was the first person on this thread to suggest the use of srcds, which seems to be the norm now. xD

Nothing was there, but im not sure I'd need something in there in order to access the site itself.

My internet is bad as well and I got the CClientSteamContext OnSteamServerConnectFailure logged on = 0 message a LOT. However it only happened maybe once every 10-15 minutes and would promptly return to 1 after. It is okay if this happens on occasion, it just means you won't receive drops while it is set to 0 and will once again when it returns to 1. However, if this is something that is happening multiples times per minute or is staying 0 for long intervals, you have a problem. You SHOULD be fine though, because I even managed to idle on 7 accounts with this message and still receive full drops on HughesNet.

Yeah I figured this out soon enough. It seems that it was a coincidence because that particular account and another account of mine, are not receiving drops whatsoever. Strange
How could I make this work with games in the 'common' folder - such as CS:GO.
I currently have 8 accounts up and running and have about $50 in my Paypal. I've been thinking of spending it on an extra 10 accounts. Is there any way possible that I could get banned? I remember a while ago middlemen would get banned for trading large amount of items to others. Is this still a problem, or doesn't Valve look for this stuff anymore..? Was cringing before when I was trading 70+ items to my main.
Also, what technique do you guys use to buy so many accounts? For my accounts I used a prepaid credit card with Paypal, and once the 2 account per CC allowance was up, I'd switch the CC to a different Paypal account. I want to use my Paypal balance for this though, not a credit card. Is Paypal the same as a credit card (as in you can only use it twice), or can you use the same Paypal as much as you want on different Steam accounts?
edit: NVM, just realized Paypal doesn't have any fees to send $$ to another PP account if it's using PP balance. Don't know why nobody else uses this method..
Been idlying successfully using sandboxie for over a year.
Hoever lately every time I start a sanbox account I get a 'validating files' request. It is getting annoying.
I tried:
1. Emptying sandbox
2. Reinstalling tf2
3. Running without sandbox
4. Deleting blobs
Nothing works. Any suggestions?
Thanks
I'm getting that validating problem with all of my accounts all of a sudden also. Even my main account has the issue, so now I can't play TF2 normally, and anything I try doesn't work. All day I've been fixing up my idling system again after 90 days of inactivity, and now this is the only problem left.
My main is also downloading endless updates for TF2 too, and now I think a couple of my other accounts are downloading infinite updates as well. I read the OP in the FAQ where it says how to fix it, but it was pretty vague.
Close all Steam applications, copy all the TF2 GCF files (tf2, source, multiplayer binaries). from a non-corrupted, updated steamapps folder to the corrupted steamapps folder. You don't need to copy the account subfolders.
Remember to never share your main steamapps folder, use a copy of it for the alt accounts. That bug happens every time you have a account running TF2 and you open another account when there's a update available, when both accounts are using the same steamapps folder.
Well I used that mlink technique so all of my alts are linked to my main steamapps folder. And that's the only steamapps folder I have on my computer, so I haven't got a clue whats corrupted and whats not.
This morning I completetley wiped every source of TF2 on my computer. I try to download it again on my main, but now it won't even download. It keeps saying the steam servers are too busy to handle my request, and TF2 won't change from 'Download Starting'. When I double click on it, it just validates the files like before.
i started thinking that valve is doing someting in updates purposely to screw with steam accounts opened with sandboxie.

Ι did this but when I run the accounts in steam box, after updating CFGs again and all, I still got the error
I'm getting a problem... Even though I set up a shortcut to my main steamapps folder in the idle accounts folder it tells me "Could not connect to Steam network" and then promptly "You don't have enough hard disk space to run this game. Please free up some disk space and then try again" before it closes. What did I do wrong? I'm using M.A.I.D (but I know that's not the problem)...
[editline]14th October 2012[/editline]
Sorry for the double post, I fixed the problem by expanding the Sandbox to cover all of the C drive.
I've managed to fix my problem by deleting all TF2 gfc's. I found out which ones to delete by renaming my main steamapps folder. Steam makes a new one, so I just go in and take a look at whats inside the new steamapps folder. So I went back into my renamed main, deleted the same gfc's that was created in the new steamapps folder, and put my main folders name back to normal and deleted the new steamapps. TF2 started downloading normally, and once it was done everything was fixed!
The amount of drops I'm getting is amazing. I've found 6 hats so far, and I still got plenty of drops left before my 10 accounts start hitting the drop caps so I might find even more.
Hi,
I'm having a problem I couldn't find in this thread, a picture will explain it much better than words:

So as you can see the password isn't typed in the steam windows and it fails to connect, does anyone knows what could be the problem/solution ?
EDIT: Found the problem, my password had a special character in it (é) and the batch didn't recognize it, should specify that in the first post.
