Thanks but I tried it and after Preparing to launch TF2, it just says game is unavailable. Once I unset it as read-only, it restored the files to the original size and was once again able to launch. Is there something I missed or does this method not work?
Yeah, it won't work, but it was a nice try. When you try to launch a game, Steam verifies the checksums and size of most items in the account's folder based on what's in the game's GCF. This is done so after an update the account will get the new game files (when a game update is released, just the GCF is updated; it's then the Steam launcher's job to copy the new files into the account folders). If it can't verify the files are up to date with both the Steam master server and the local GCF, it will not allow you to launch the game. The new content system (AKA stuff in the "common" folder such as CS:GO) doesn't behave like that, because it has only one folder for all accounts, so Steam just downloads there. Hopefully in a couple years, Valve will convert TF2 onto that system.
Very interesting, btw I managed to solve it through mklink. Using a similar process to the mklink mentioned in the first page for the main tf2 files but for these files.
you guys got any idea why this keeps happening on both my computer and laptop? i thought it could be something with sandbox settings since it happens on both machines but it's happening even unsandboxed. kinda pisses me of when i have to delete crates from free accounts now that's some fcking anoying shit
Yeah, redownloading TF2 does not work, the thing that's really annoying is that I can open Steam and Terraria in SandBoxie on my other computer, then have TF2 running in -textmode off of normal Steam, and have everything run fine, on a system with only 3GB of RAM (Although most of you will say "That doesn't matter") and this system with 4GBs of RAM. Anyone else have a solution to prepose.
Starting December 12th, Steam Trading will require that your account has had Steam Guard enabled for at least 15 days before you can trade items. You already have Steam Guard enabled, so no action is required on your part.
Enjoy wasting time.
Enjoy wasting time.
troublesome !!!!!!!!
Enjoy wasting time.
ffs. now I have to do the steamguard email authentication whenever I reinstall my farm.
Will wait a little, before i upgrade new accounts.
Is anyone here running 30+ accounts at a time? I need some suggestions/opinions to upgrade my pc. It would be a great help if you'd just send me specs, thanks in advance.
Just a heads up, enabling Steam Guard on alt accounts will make it extremely easy for Valve to tell they're alts, as Guard is hardware-based encryption. If you're okay with that fact then that's fine, but just know the fate of your idle alts is in their hands. If Valve ever takes a stance against multi-account idling, you can kiss them all goodbye.

Hi guys, just a question, is just connecting to an idle server all I need to do in order to get stuff? For example running this:
start /low C:\Steam\Steam.exe -login user password -applaunch 440 -dxlevel 81 -32bit -textmode -single_core -nojoy -low -nosound -sw -width 640 -height 480 -noshader -nopix -novid -nopreload -replay_enable 0 +connect 204.27.56.220:27015
I do not need to choose team and class and all that jazz?

Another question, do the stuff appear in the stem inventory at once or do you have to restart TF2 to have them appear? Seems I got two new items that I haven't seen before after running this in like 4 hours or something, but I have no idea.

After upgrading many accounts to premium in the last year I suddenly get an error when trying to put money into steam wallet from paypal on more than 2 accounts. Can anyone tell me if using multiple 10$ paysafecards to activate 2 accounts with every card gets blocked too?

Ah damn, item server seems to be down :/
Hello, I've recently switched to running my idle accounts through a dedicated server, so I load up one account and then all of the others connect to that one. Has saved me heaps in memory usage so thank you to everyone who has contributed toward the memory usage issue. I've just run into a problem though, which brings up this error: "maxplayers set to 24 Missing shutdown function for Engine VGui<>->Init<> : EngineVGui<>->Shutdown<>" My settings are: +exec idle.cfg -textmode -nosound -low -novid -nopreload -nohltv -nojoy -tvdisable -width 640 -height 480 -port 23 +password 1234 +connect 192.etc.etc.:29018 (I've also successfully used 29015 but that's also having an issue now). Last week when I first tried it I had all my accounts connecting perfectly to my main account however now some of them are coming up with the above issue. Would appreciate any feedback, thank you.
Sorry, I'm somewhat new to this but can you "get in trouble" for using programs like this to idle?
Sorry, I'm somewhat new to this but can you "get in trouble" for using programs like this to idle?
they punished everyone idled with "steamstats" program in the past.I dont see why not they wouldn't again, but risks are everywhere right?
Sorry, I'm somewhat new to this but can you "get in trouble" for using programs like this to idle?
No, they only punished people for using external idling methods without even launching tf2, this program only manages the accounts and you still need to run tf2 in order to idle

How can I set up a dedicated server through TF2Idle to lower ram usage? Edit: I've read numerous pages and attempted multiple settings (without finding proper idle.cfg's other than the OP's) but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Good luck :)

The first account connects fine, but the following accounts go 'retrying (mylocalip):29018)..' three times, and then say 'connection failed after 4 retries.' in the console.
