Every time I idle, the account that creates the server is fine but, the ones that are connecting go in full mode connects to the server then goes back to textmode. Is there a way to prevent the accounts going fullmode?
how do you get it so low, i'm using the m.a.i.d. bat launch and its taking 560mb for hl2.exe, i assume "private memory" in task manager is the right column? nm figured it out, used the idle cfg posted by diomac

fps_max 30 r_rootlod 2 r_lod 2 mat_picmip 2 threadpool_affinity 0 mat_aaquality 0 mat_bumpmap 0 mat_antialias 0 mat_reducefillrate 1 mat_specular 0 r_shadowrendertotexture 0 r_waterforceexpensive 0 mat_hdr_level 0 mat_hdr_enabled 0 mat_hdr_level 0 mat_hdr_manual_tonemap_rate 0 mat_aaquality 0 mat_use_compressed_hdr_textures 0 mat_disable_bloom 1 mat_bloomscale 0

it still takes me 460,000k memory to run hl2.exe even when i used the idle.cfg in the OP. Any other suggestions?
You should have -textmode in there somewhere.
He says it goes to textmode later so he obviously has -textmode in there. try adding -sw -width 640 -height 480 or just -sw might do fine.

is it possible to write a script or something to make your alts auto smelt the weapons and auto trade them to the main account? Thanks.
I have a big issue. On my special account where I added to friends my 100 idle accounts happened something weird. I can't do any trades because steam says that steam guard must be enabled for 15 days. But I remember that I enabled steam guard for all accounts immediately when Valve posted annoucement about this security measuse. What I should do? I can't contact to steam support because if they ll see 100 idle accounts with same name in my friends then they'll ban me

Nobody is going to ban you beacuse of idling on multiple accounts. It's allowed. Try to check if both of the accounts have the steam guard activated. If so, just wait some days and try to trade again.
they won't do shit about your alts
Pointing what we do in their eyes is NOT a good idea. When they decide we are f**king the metal and item market too much, they will want to shut us down. When that happpens, you dont want your account marked or noted in anywhere near steam support.

They
is it possible to write a script or something to make your alts auto smelt the weapons and auto trade them to the main account? Thanks.
It is, but we do not have one on hand to just pass out. Whats-his-face with a million alts did something like this.
Is it very complex? How would you go about doing it (in theory)?
Is it very complex? How would you go about doing it (in theory)?
there are many services which do stuff similar to what you want. tfscrap is a good example. it auto-trades people and then crafts any weapons it can into scrap. I'm sure this can be complexity can be increased for more metal, specific user trading etc. I have no idea how to do it tho. Steamworks or some shit
weird but some of my accounts aren't remembering my settings to not let tf2 automatically update. think it may have led to a file validation on idle start up now.... [editline]14th December 2012[/editline]
The validating files" problem is old and it has been already said many times that Easy fix > Copy all the TF2 GCF files (source, tf2, multiplayer binaries, etc) from your main steamapps folder to your shared steamapps folder (that if your main steamapps folder didn't get the same problem) or Annoying fix > Uninstall and redownload TF2 It was always advised to NOT use your main steamapps folder with idle accounts and a separated steamapps folder should be created for sharing. It may save around 13GB but still not worth all the headache it may cause.
actually the first post/tutorial does not warn of this.
when i log on steam on sandboxie and try to play team fortress i get a messige saying that the "the game is unavailable. Please try again another time." did i do something wrong? i can play the game on my normal steam...
Just tried this tutorial today, but I'm stuck when I'm trying to launch the Step 5 .bat, It tells me that windows can't find Start.exe, but I specified the exact right target ! Could it be a problem with the fact that there's a space between "Program" and "Files" ? Because if I copy the "adress" of the Sandboxie folder in windows, I have : E:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe . So could this space be the problem ? (Already tried without it and it doesn't work much) Here is a screenshot which show that I wrote the good path :
The space is important, try putting the path name or "Program Files" in quotation marks ("")
I feel really stupid right now... It worked :D Thanks ! EDIT: Now I have the blob problem. But I'm not sure what to do when they say "Make a copy of your Steam+TF2 files and run the copy in the sandbox.". Do I have to make a copy of my Steam folder + stamapps/accountname/tf2 ? And then what do you mean by "Running it in the sandbox".

One of them will have the main steamapps folder and you will delete the rest, or rather replace them with the link as described in e. You will use a separate sandbox for each user which is explained in the getting started section.

Do you mean that I have to copy the steamapps folder in one of my 5 Idle folder ?
The first instance of Steam, no matter which account I use, loads perfectly fine. But the second one always displays this error message. I've tried deleting clientregistry.blob to no avail. Any other advice?

I think you can just make your shortcuts in each of those steam1-5 folders to point to your main steamapps, the point in making the shortcuts is really just to cut down on disk space so just link it to some full steamapps folder that they can share.

And before anyone wants to claim I did anything wrong... This is the first time I started to get this error. When I originally did this multiple account idling thing, this error NEVER occured. I was able to sign into two accounts and make them join the same server, trade with each other, the works. Everything ran completely 100% smoothly. Since then, I never fiddled around with any settings whatsoever. Now I get this error. I can't sign into any steam account using Sandboxie. It used to work 100%, I never toyed around with any settings .. now, it magically doesn't work. So +1 for this question .. anyone know how to fix this?
yesterdays drop :D
