You could also buy it on your Idle account, Keep it and either resell it or use it for 1 more idle account.
When you "buy" from tf2 store you become premium, so buying the upgrade tool from your idle account if you could would basically give you a free 2nd idle.
;38859775']I get this too!
And before anyone wants to claim I did anything wrong...
This is the first time I started to get this error.
When I originally did this multiple account idling thing, this error NEVER occured. I was able to sign into two accounts and make them join the same server, trade with each other, the works. Everything ran completely 100% smoothly.
Since then, I never fiddled around with any settings whatsoever. Now I get this error. I can't sign into any steam account using Sandboxie.
It used to work 100%, I never toyed around with any settings .. now, it magically doesn't work.
So +1 for this question .. anyone know how to fix this?
you need to make sure the only folder that sandboxies has direct access too is steamapps. It should work then. If you're running steam outside of a sandboxie as well, then you need to start your sandboxie steam up first. That should fix it.
people try to connect to my idle server from time to time, aren't the bat idle files of maid set to not list the server in the server browser?

+password
+password
I prefer and recommend to use +sv_lan 1. Makes it so you don't have to have the password in all your bats, and ensures no will outside of you LAN will be able to connect.
+password
yea well all the maid default bats have a password so thats not it, and yes i did change mine from default..note i said "attempt" to connect, the text window shows these.

ah ok

I tried that and still didn't work.

How do I go about doing this? Because I followed the instructions in the OP exactly as it said and it worked fine. Now since it stopped working ... and I have to perform this new step ... I have no idea how to do it.
Is there a program to trade from your idles to your main account or is everyone still doing it manually?
Is there a program to trade from your idles to your main account or is everyone still doing it manually?
as far as I am aware most people are manually trading it. it is definitely possible to create a program that will automatically trade them for you, there are services which basically already do this (see tfscrap). But there has been no publicly released program.

i need help.. one of my idle account has this error saying "unable to load team fortress 2\bin\filesystem_steam.dll" how do i fix it??
nvm i fixed it... =X
Hi i'm new here :) , i would like to know how many accounts you guys can run at the same time.
I was trying to increase my farm size but i can only get to 19 accounts, seems i ran out of video ram to the point where i can't even open my browser anymore.
I checked on GPU-Z it seems i'm only using 280mb of vram from a total of 3gb. Also 12gb of a total of 16gb of ram.
From a few posts i read it seems possible to idle with over 30 accounts at the same time but i have no idea how.
I'm using this for the server
start /low D:\Steam\idler01\Steam.exe -login XXXX XXXX -applaunch 440 -dxlevel 81 -32bit -textmode -single_core -novid -nosound -low -noipx -noshader -nojoy -nopreload -replay_enable 0 -sw -width 640 -height 480 +exec idle.cfg +sv_password 1234 -sw -port 29018 +sv_lan 1 +map itemtest +maxplayers 29 +mp_idledealmethod 0
and this for the rest
start /low D:\Steam\idler02\Steam.exe -login XXXX XXXX -applaunch 440 -dxlevel 81 -32bit -textmode -single_core -novid -nosound -low -noipx -noshader -nojoy -nopreload -replay_enable 0 -sw -width 640 -height 480 +exec idle.cfg -port 23 +password 1234 +connect 192.168.1.100:29018
I have a question.
I created a folder named "Steam Idle"; put in all files and folders as in the original Steam folder, except for "steamapps" which I created a shortcut to and put inside the folder.
I also made sure that my sandbox was directed to "Steam Idle" and did the other configurations as shown in the tutorial.
But as I start Steam in the sandbox and opening TF2, it starts to validate the game files, which creates the whole original Steam folder in the sandbox workspace folders; but it doesn't reach to 100% since it asks me to increase the amount of data space allowed in the workspace. This part I don't understand since "Steam Idle" already have all the original files and folders.
hi, how did people get around the one steam account per paypal limit?

I tried this. At least I hope I got it right ... still didn't work. This is frustrating. I don't know what went wrong. It worked perfectly ... then one day stops working and gives me this error without me changing anything.
I did everything exactly as the OP said, then I gave Direct Access to the Steamapps. I still get the error.
Maybe the OP needs to be updated? Sounds silly, but I don't know ... I can't think of anything wrong being done on my end. Since it worked smoothly since I first started doing this, then suddenly stopped working without me making any changes. The only thing I can think of is Sandboxie changed something on their end which interrupts with this...?
EDIT:
Even re-installed Sandboxie and tried multiple methods of doing that extra step. Even made 3 more Sandboxies to re-attempt everything multiple ways.

I honestly prefer just use this item now days - http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Upgrade_to_Premium_Gift
Just buy how many you want on your main account and send them to your new alts.

I'm aware of that option but I was interested in more efficient ways.
I followed this guide after reading over it a couple of times tonight. So far I have two accounts with matching .bat files working. Both of the idle.bats and trade.bats work when run non-sandboxed individually; I successfully connect to the server and idling works, or steam opens.
However, when I run the Idle_All.bat, everything runs as planned until the textmode console opens. It says:
Both convars must be marked fcvar_replicated for linkage to work
Max players set to 24
and then proceeds to close on both accounts with no error message or 'hl2.exe has stopped working' message
I have triple checked my settings in sandboxie to make sure that both boxes are configured in accordance to the OP. I have also tried launching TF2 from Steam in sandboxie mode as well. Non-textmode it closes two seconds after the window opens and textmode does the same thing as described above.
I'm super close and it's driving me insane! If anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it!
I get something that says advanced joystick settings initialized, is that normal?

as long as it says "account connected". You'll probably get drops.
It's a great program, I have one more question though, sometimes I get this: that won't prevent me from getting drops, right?
-snip-
Hi, i've just got a question for you guys.
How long does it usually take before you get a item?
I've been idling for 70+ minutes on one of my accounts and it has yet to get a item.
Wondering if this is normal or if i have done something wrong.
[editline]27th December 2012[/editline]
Hm,
Now it says "Connection to game coordinator established" in one of the windows.

It depends, each week you will usually get anything between 8 to 12 item drops, could be more or less some weeks, and my guess it's 30 to 90 minutes between drops, that value also varies.

Yeah it seems i do get drops.
The only problem i have now is that all my hl2 processes uses about 400-500mb ram each.
Is there any solution to this?
I looked through the thread but couldn't really find any help there.
[editline]27th December 2012[/editline]
I have setup a dedicated server and that seems to help quite a bit.
All the hl2.exe processes are down to 200-250mb which is okay.
Is there anything else i can do to lower it even further?
Hey i got a salvaged #40 crate on my first idle run :D
