I've been thinking something similar since the second number update, that Valve's padding the kills. Whether they look at actual kills and decide to give it to whoever does actually get the most kills, or just does whatever they want, I really doubt the kills are at those marks.

Now it's 234,164.
The lead is still growing. It just didn't grow by as much this time.

No they aren't. If they were catching up the difference would be less. If the soldiers just keep up consistently killing the Demomen the exact same number than the Demos are killing Soldiers then the Soldiers will still win.
