TF2Idle - An easier way to idle

just a quick fix for the people that dont want to open the steam server browser for every single account
create a connect.bat data insert the code below, your steamname and sandbox must be the same name, dont forget your server ip and maybe server pw you want to connect to

I can now confirm this works, so if you have same error I had you have to just sign out of the client beta and everything works again!

So just making a little status update. I've begun working on an auto-reconnect function after struggling for a few days on how to implement it.

Originally I was going to go down route of using RCON to connect to each account's server and check the status, and to see if any accounts were not connected to the server when using only one account as a dedicated account. I had a pretty big problem with not being able to connect to the local servers though (if anyone wants to let me know how to get it working that would be great).

I dismissed that for a bit because I found out about [URL="https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Server_queries"]A2S protocol[/URL] that just allows me to ping the server and get information about the players connected that way. But then I realized that these two methods were limited because I could not see the actual server status, and whether it had lost connection to Steam.

So I've settled on going down the route of making the servers output their console output to a log file in the sandbox and checking this file periodically for any errors. This is a bit trickier to implement but will ultimately be more useful.

If anyone knows of a better way, let me know.

Well, i had 7 F2P accounts i had idled for a few weeks, decided to make one premium and get some games from the summer sale to gift myself... Added the min amount to steam wallet needed. Went to purchase a cheap item and it would come up saying there is an error..please contact steam support if this persists.. so wouldnt go through..

After several times trying to relog in i had this screen pop up.. I have checked the other accounts i was going to make prem, but they wont go to checkout either to upgrade the status, but dont display this message.. so i guess they have stopped those from being made into proper accounts.

I got the same message 1 month ago, just contact support and give them the information they want your account will be restored in 3 days

If there isn't a way to detecting a disconnection I have two ideas:
- Implementing a reconnect cycle, forcing reconnect from a period of time (time is configurable). I think this is not a problem, even when the acc is connected.
- or if acc is not drop any item for +/- 2 hour, this acc is disconnect or reach the item cap. I think this is not a problem try reconnect in this case, even when the cap is reached.

I think this minimize the problem of disconnection.

So I downloaded the exe and started up it up and there are bunch of errors when idling unsandboxed.
The server it made is not vac secured, and it comes up with a bunch of cvar errors because sv_cheats isn't 1.
It can't execute listenserver.cfg and itemtest.cfg because they don't exist.
It also says tf_server_identity_account_id not set: not logging into registered account.
Am I doing something wrong?

Those are all completely normal things. It tries to load the cfg files if they exist and complains if they don't, but it doesn't harm anything. The server doesn't need to be VAC secured to get drops, the cvar errors are always there. Check your console when you join a normal game in TF2 and you'll see them. tf_server_identity_account_id not set is for servers that are registered for quickplay and halloween drops etc

I'm really running out of options here, reinstalled tf2, restarted my pc, reinstalled tf2idle, tried the whole process from scratch over again, porting forward etc. Still refuses to work

I need some help here please, Every time i close TF2Idle and start it again i get this message: "Enter your Decryption Key" , i don't even choose to use one ,why do i get the message ?, it worked before,but now i have to add all my idle accounts every time i start up :(, And another thing, when i start idle steam always starts validating my files, get stuck at 100% for a while , and then a message saying steam can't do this at the moment or something like that, but why ? very annoying sometimes it takes hours to get all idle accounts up running, and sometimes only some of them are validating , but most of the time all are :(, but now i can't even use the program, please can anyone help me ??,

Are you sure you're not going to settings and turning on encryption? The only other thing I can think of is that the program can't read your settings file properly after it's written. Open it up after closing TF2Idle and see if it looks funny. The other issue is because you have to update the GCFs completely before idling, check the guides.
