• TF2Idle - An easier way to idle

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks (coulda sworn I did this a long time ago, had to create an account, oh well) and I've been using it for a while. Just a few suggestions I'd love to see implemented, most of them simple: * Start idle button also starts logging for that account * Logs automatically saved. * Select all/none button for accounts (groups are nice, but something simpler would be more useful) * Start logging all button (in lieu of suggestion 1) * Possibility of starting groups with 1 being a server, and all the subsequent idle accounts connecting to it to save on memory/cpu. * Idle start delay on main page maybe? (useful for switching between idling and trading) ----- a big suggestion that'd take some time ----- Logging stats page that'd look like the following (in addition to the raw drops)

Active Account Time Active Hats/Session Drops/Session Last Drop Seen

true Idle01 12 hours 1 10 4 hours ago

true Idle02 12 hours 0 12 Less than 1 hour ago

true Idle03 12 hours 0 6 5 hours ago

false Idle04 --- 0 - -

false Idle05 --- 0 - -

Just some ideas and thanks again =)
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks (coulda sworn I did this a long time ago, had to create an account, oh well) and I've been using it for a while. (...)
Those are some nice ideas and would be very useful, at the moment you can deselect all accounts if you right click on the main view, and you can have 1 account with different settings from the rest (example: "the server account") The logging stats would be even better with the backpack item total and item limit, sometimes I idle and didn't realize that i've exceeded the backpack limit (i think the drops just get deleted)
Crossposting this from the Advnaced Mannconomy thread, since I'd love to get an answer. Does anyone have a good estimate of how much bandwidth each account uses if it were to idle over a 12 hour period? I currently idle 24 accounts, but am considering expanding to 32. At home my bandwidth usage isn't really a problem, but at my university they cap it at 60GB a month. I've been able to idle 24 accounts a week at my school for over month with no complaints from my university's IT department, but I'm concerned that going up to 32 a week will the breaking point. Anyone have an idea?

EDIT: In the startup of the account the steam.exe+ hl2.exe use around 60 000 Bytes per second, but when the account is "stable"/connected it uses 100 to 300 Bytes per second. I'm not sure if these values are correct, but now you just need to calculate how much it would use in a session.

Ignoring the starting value of 60,000, 24 accounts over the course of 10 hours would only use about 250 MB of bandwidth per week, which is definitely negligible in my data situation. Taking the 60,000 on startup into account and adding 8 more accounts, I'd likely only spend about 3-4GB at the absolute max per month on idling. Helps that I only have to update my master install of TF2 to update the rest.

Also adding my own idea again to display a status icon on each account button to show it either steam is running, hl2.exe is running or not.
has anyone come up with a way to auto smelt weapons and combine scrape/rec/ref etc? that would be a great add on :)
has anyone come up with a way to auto smelt weapons and combine scrape/rec/ref etc? that would be a great add on :)
steamitemmanager
What I would like is a history tab of some sort that keeps track of what you idled, and for how long. This should be implemented after the autoconnect feature is in. And then it should say how long it idled while connected. It would be so convenient. Right now, I've been idling every account 20 hours a week to be sure I got all I could for the week.
First of all I'd like to say thanks for this excellent program. I just started using it last week and the simplicity of its use has already encouraged me to start a "mini farm". Secondly, I'm wondering if it is possible to lower the amount of memory used by each instance of hl2.exe. I've been running 8 idle accounts a time, each requiring ~500mb of memory. I have 8gb installed on my computer but for some reason I'm told through taskmanager that 89% of my physical ram is in use while I am idling 8 accounts. I seem to recall reading that the memory load can be decreased by connecting each account to a third-party server rather than having each account create its own dedicated server. I'd prefer not to rely on third-party server; is there a way to have one dedicated server created and each idle account connected to it?

http://i.imgur.com/mgive.png Gave it a go and now I can probably handle 40-50 accounts at once instead of 25-30. Only if my processor can handle it lol.

Given you're speding 500mb on 1 account +200mb +20mb for steam.exe processes, you're probably around 30 still.
You can't hear me right now, but I'm giggling like a school girl. Thank you very much!!
Another tip I could give you is that while setting up your accounts, or at any time afterwards, go into the steam options for the account and turn off the in-game steam overlay. When running a lot of accounts the extra memory saved really adds up.

I have 32 GB of ram. :) Been able to run 30-33 accounts while asleep/at work. But I got a lot more than that. With these tips, I can idle ~45-50, but I just run 40 at a time to be extra safe.

Have anybody noticed that hats drop rate reduced? Or it's downstreak?
Actually I would rather say that I get more hats than I was ever getting... Luck
Actually I would rather say that I get more hats than I was ever getting... Luck
this
this
Same, I'm getting 3-5 hats a week from 11 accounts. Usually 2 of the hats drop on 1 account too.
Have anybody noticed that hats drop rate reduced? Or it's downstreak?
it is bad luck
I've been unlucky with Salvaged Crates. I've been idling for maybe 6 months with 50 accounts and only got one. I think it was 4 months ago.
Have anybody noticed that hats drop rate reduced? Or it's downstreak?
3 low tier hats and 1 taunt from 16 accounts this week. I'm curious as to what everyone thinks is the best way to acquire tf2 premium accounts. Do you fund each with $5 or have any of you bought premium accounts from another user?
I will try this; Hey guys,i heard russian fellows can add custom amounts to steam wallets.(With Qiwi https://w.qiwi.ru/,as explained in http://www.gamer.ru/everything/popolnenie-steam-wallet-s-pomoschyu-qiwi I will pay 1 TF 2 key for 0.50$ steam wallet deposit to an account i give you,or a newly created account, whatever is neccesary.) I just use entropay to create multiple virtual cards and buy backpack expanders or keys and trade it all to my trading alt. It's not as expensive as my last method, which was to go to walmart and buy many 20 dollar greendot cards and dip 10 dollars to each account.
