Mind sharing system specs for both host and virtual machine? Thanks. How much ram you assigned to virtual machine? Have you done 30 + 10 or 20 + 20? that's also important.
http://i.imgur.com/Lb9Hj.jpg => specs I didn't set anything really for the virtual machine except for 8 gb of ram, 20 + 20

How long do you take to setup a new OS for the accounts ? is it possible to just cpy over the sandboxie sanboxes and settings ?

Last time i tried virtual box + win7 for idling,i tried for a whole week and all i came out empty. It was about directx and 3d virtualiziton stuff.
Got nothing tonight except a #49 crate. Did any of you have any luck?
^dunno still validating the darn files... how do you guys start idling? i mean do you launch all the idle acc at once or 1 by 1, waiting for them to fully loaded/connect to the server?
Left this on overnight and didn't get anything..
Windows8 does have some small memory savings, though they don't appear to be significant enough to warrant a switch. Assuming 30MB savings average, you'd theoretically be able to run 1 more account for every 7 accounts in w8 over w7. I setup a page file on my main install [w7] (don't usually have one), and ran the same test, seeing how many accounts I could squeeze out of the available ram and pagefile. W7 is running 3 more accounts in that picture, when I tested w8 the server was only set to 24 players, w8 would have been capable of running those same 3.
Did it, still getting the same message.
That doesn't work. Have you tried launching the client, letting it load into the server, closing the text window, then relaunching? Might also be worth copying the "team fortress 2" files from a backup.

It downloads it and saves it to RAM. That's the "Received {size} bytes from item schema version {some hash} direct data;update is queued." message. But since it's saved to RAM it will show this message and redownload the schema every time you start the game, until Valve update the game to bring the schemas into sync. TL;DR The message isn't important and doesn't affect anything.

Sorry about all that, I'm still p. new after playing this again after so long.
any of you guys able to run 30 accs with 8 gigs of ram?
^i dont think its possible, i can run 12-15 with 8 gb of ram so far, but haven't tried more edit : might plan to try on 20 acc at once

To be honest, you're not doing massive calculations holding servers up, all you really need is a huge pagefile and a computer that isn't completely awful. You'll only hit issues if you run out of pagefile, as windows can only handle 32~ instances before outright breaking anyway
i do 20 at once with my 4 gigs laptop
How can you run 20 accounts on that laptop ?
I've just spent multiple days trying to bypass the 32~ instance limit by making virtual machines. Don't try this. Using the client Hyper-V found on windows 8, you don't get a virtual GPU, which makes TF2 crash to desktop right after the valve intro. Using VirtualBox, you get a virtual GPU which runs wine(even though window's installed, for some reason) and you can't run 8< without crashing and they all error So i've wasted probably 20 hours on nothing :suicide: I'll get to writing a proper guide/FAQ to this soon

and what about the pagefile size ?
What is exactly happening when you press "Add account" button or just "Start idling"? I mean, it does download item schema, but does it have to do it for every single account separetly? I have real slow Internet connection and I have to (before even starting idling) go to drop section, select 5-8 accounts >>> add them, wait several seconds then repeat. If I get too many accs It will just fail to download schema. Isn't there easier way? Less bandwith consuming? Overall your programme is really great, helps me to get my drops etc. Setup isnt that user friendly, unfortunately. Tech-savvy ppl can have some problems with it, as tutorial is very nerdy (its fine for me). Oh and one more question. In version 1.95 there is a DOS windows popping up and dissapearing straight away when you press "Start Steam" button - I havent seen it in previous versions. What is it for? Bat file gone wrong?

This is because it relies on the underlying Steamodd module to track the backpacks for each account. I initially wanted it to use one schema file but handling this situation when accounts are closed/started and the schema is updated was difficult. I'll look into this again though. Unfortunately this means a cmd window pops up for a brief second as it runs this command. It bugs me but I can find no way around it thanks to some of the stupid things Windows does.
Mousekateer, i have a feature request. Right now when i select for instance 30 accounts and press the start idling button it tries to add all these 30 accounts to the drop log at once. This sometimes congests my connection and they even fail to download the item schema. Is it possible you change the code so it adds each account to the drop once it actually launches steam+TF2 for each account? So i mean it launches them with the defined number of delay seconds. edit: i posted this without reading the last post, what a coincidence! :zoid:

If it runs drop logs with each account,"API Key is invalid" kinda problems will be worse.
So i did the trick suggested by someone in this thread by making one of my f2p idle accounts premium by giving a dota2 gift. However i just checked (after 14 days) and noticed that yes, i can trade now but all items that have dropped so far are untradable? Will they stay this way?

And again, I finally have time to idl- NOPE, VALIDATING TIME.
btw do f2p acc able to gain hat / tool drops? or they have to be upgraded to premium first? oh and btw ppl use sandboxie to launch multiple steams right? (or VM or whatever) EDIT : i just realized even if i have added sandboxie full access, my AV (Free AVG) still messes up with the files, just realized this with dota 2 updates, gonna try if it will fix the validating problems
