anyone?
i bought a laptop specifically for this job
If you want help you need to give us detailed info on how you've set everything up. If you are still getting stuck i recommend you pay someone with TF2Idle experience to look at your setup remotely.
So, wait, if i use a p2p account on tf2 idle and a f2p account, what happens?
So, wait, if i use a p2p account on tf2 idle and a f2p account, what happens?
the same thing happens, tf2 starts and you are idling
Do you think this will work in a virtual machine ?
the same thing happens, tf2 starts and you are idling
So, if my f2p account drops something, the f2p account keeps it?
Do you think this will work in a virtual machine ?
It works in idlers that have directX 9 support(VMWare)
I have no idea how to make it less slow, though
How to connect few accs into 1 server to use less ram?
How to connect few accs into 1 server to use less ram?
This was posted just a page ago.

+exec idle.cfg -textmode -nosound -low -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +sv_lan 1 -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest -maxplayers 32 -port 27100
This will run a listenserver on your local IP address port 27100
On all the other clients you want to connect to that you would do something like this:
+exec idle.cfg -textmode -nosound -low -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw +sv_lan 1 -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest +connect 192.168.1.10:27100 +clientport 29002
Change the IP address to whatever you machines IP address is. I also add a unique +clientport on each client because otherwise I've gotten various port errors after about 15 clients or so.
Put those into the Idle Launch settings in TF2Idle for each account.
Make the "server" account start first and the others follow once the server is set up.

hi
Thanks for your reply
All i did was follow it on the first page of this thread, and clicked on the guide
here :
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1161862&p=36613624&viewfull=1#post36613624
I followed that to the T, but instead of more than one account , i did one account
and as i said i just get "updateing steam" then I get "Error"
For some odd reason, when I reinstalled windows, I can no longer launch any textmodes anymore. It says it is launching tf2, but the game shuts down shortly after that without launching tf2. When I remover the textmode (-textmode) command line, TF2 launches normally as it should.
Any idea why textmode no longer works? Is anything required on windows, like .NET?
Also.. I think TF2Idle v1.9.5 is not working properly. Receiving cmd.exe errors when attempting to idle. v1.9.3 works perfectly.
Nevermind regarding these issues. An outdated Sandboxie was the issue. Using Sandboxie v3.62 now, works great!
mhm.
How many items you are getting per week? With 8 Accounts?

Although that guide looks fine, i've never used it. I worked with the documentation on github and help in these forums. Please post what your directory structure is and how you made the symlinks. Also, did you get a legit version of Sandboxie?
mhm.

each acc ~10 to 12 item, some week fewer 5 item
with 20 acc like mine, one week can get at least 2 hat :D, some week got crate 40 $_$
What does this mean?:
Invalid box name parameter: cmd / c start /low ""/Steam.exe -login 2167nico *password* -applaunch 440

wrong sandboxie path probably
Has anyone figured out why you start getting font or canvas errors after 32 accounts?
I got more working once and i can't be sure it was even working really then, but I swear I've seen people running more than 32 clients without resorting to VM's to partition accounts into separate machines.

It's a sandboxie limitation AFAIK, there's probably a way to fix it but no one's found it and given it out yet
32 Clients? Thats much - All ur Accounts are Premium?
I am idle only with 8 Accounts (40€ to Premium up all accounts)
32 Clients? Thats much - All ur Accounts are Premium?

Yes I have 40 premium accounts right now. It's not a problem getting them done in a week just would like to do them all at once if I can. I have the PC power without a doubt to do it. Just running into some weird resource limitation. It sucks too because when it crashes I have to validate all the games again :(
I've tried and tried to see what to back up in order to avoid the whole validating process and its got to be something server side that doesn't match up. The hex code in localconfig.vdf is really the only thing that consistently changes and even if you backup that and the blobs it still wants to validate.
To fix many validating issues, close Steam nicely (close each game individually and then Steam -> Exit).
Don't use the 'Terminate sandbox' button, as it 'forces' Steam to close without giving it time to sync.
Am I the only one getting low drops? For the second week in a row, from 20 accounts I have 17 getting ~5 items, and the other 3 getting ~10 :suicide:
weird, my idles seems asking for an update, endlessly, anyone got the same problem?
EDIT : nvm got it works, still no idea what happened though, btw to the post above, it does works sometimes, it doesn't works sometimes (e.g it works for the acc that is the servers, but doesn't work for clients)
Tried to read some of the comments here but they are too many so I'm just gonna explain my situation:
For some reason I can only run 16 accounts at a time.. 1 server + 15 clients.. I've tried with 2 servers and various accounts (with proper settings) connecting to them but again after I hit the 16 number in total, I get this in the cmd log: WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: unable to bind socket
And a popup "Engine Error" appears with "Could not allocate server IP" ..Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Suggestions?

Ahh if it were only that simple. I exit gracefully every time I can and its about 50/50 if I have to validate next time. Which as I said is strange because I've even attempted to backup and restore the files when everything seemed to when it was working just fine.
I'd stop the validating. Copy the entire Steam/TF2 files that I backed up from when it was closed and opening properly, it would still be asking to validate. This is such a typical message around everywhere. No one seems to have any interest in getting to bottom of solving it because any who's not having the problem dismisses it as nothing and those that do can't figure out why its happening.
It's always you're closing it wrong or some other ID10T error, which I assure its not. If I crash my system or terminate sandbox it will validate EVERY time. If I gracefully close my steams its probably 50/50 if they will validate next time.

Why be such an ass when this question ISN'T addressed in the guide and I've been contradicted when I've suggested that the "supposed" solutions provided aren't the solution.
I also add a unique +clientport on each client because otherwise I've gotten various port errors after about 15 clients or so.
Add an unique and individual +clientport to each of your idle accounts and you won't get the port conflicts.
I said that because before formatting my computer I used to get the validation thing every time, after the format I started closing it nicely (every time) and never happened again.

I have no doubt it did start working for you, the point is that advice is EVERYWHERE and it doesn't always work. Deleting the clientregistry.blob doesn't always work, deleting the localconfig.vdf doesn't always work, ect...
As I said I've been doing extensive analysis of what steam does and it seems that there has to be something serverside that gets mismatched when the client closes down improperly. With that said no amount of deleting or files is going to stop it other than forcing it to download stuff. Unless someone has some other fix, it appears just going through the validation process is the only fix.

What part of the "I tried everything from google" did you not understand? Did you really think I'll ignore the first important google result that actually comes from Steam forums and matches my search query? Obviously you haven't had this issue so the first thing you do is do a google search and point me to it. It may be solving a problem for 1 steam account, but it isn't helping here.

I've tried all sorts of combinations, with and without specifying client ports.. the max i ever got was 18 accounts and I don't think some of them connected properly. I don't claim to know much but I've read forums and asked people for help and this is what I'm using right now..
Server:
+exec idle.cfg +exec listenserver.cfg -textmode -nosound -noipx -low -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw -maxplayers
32 +sv_lan 1 -port 270xx -width 640 -height 480 +map itemtest
Client:
+exec idle.cfg -textmode -nojoy -nosound -noipx -low -novid -nopreload -sw +sv_lan 1 -width 640 -height 480
+connect 192.168.1.64:270xx
I can easily load 50-60 accounts without any tweaks and it's annoying that I don't get to. Any help is always appreciated. :tinfoil:
I recently started getting a lot of "Could not connect steam network" errors
By a lot means half of my accounts give that error when i start idling on a bunch.Anyone has a fix?
