i also have another question we need a copy of the steam folder for each account your going to idle on right? so if you got like 5 accoutns thats like 100gb of space for steams u need :/ and did the people here buy sandboxie or did u get it through other means.
You need a steam folder for each account, but don't need to copy the steamapps folder, which is the largest. You make symbolic links to your steamapps folder which saves a lot of space. Mouseketeer recommends making one copy of steamapps to link to but I link to my main steamapps and don't have any problems. This thread explains more about the process of setting up your idle account folders and Sandboxie: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1102531-Advanced-Mann-Conomy-How-to-idle-with-multiple-accounts
thanks for reply but one part is very pissing me off big time he wants me to copy and paste these lines in but my folders are set up way different then his with different names mklink /D steamapps <main steamapps path>For example: cd C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Steam mklink /D steamapps "D:\Games\Steam"Or if you didn't move steamapps: cd C:\Idle\Steam1 mklink /D steamapps "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps" ok NVM found out the name: C:\Users\Kev\Desktop\steam2\steamapps but still i dont know what to input in the cmd. anyone have any idea what to put in ? thanks if u can help

man i dont know what that means really. but i updated my post right before u posted. cd C:\Steam2 mklink /D steamapps "C:\Users\Kev\Desktop\steam2\steamapps" i tried that and it didnt work either
man i dont know what that means really. but i updated my post right before u posted.
cd C:\Steam2 this should be the directory of the alt steam account you want to idle mklink /D steamapps "C:\Users\Kev\Desktop\steam2\steamapps" this should be the path of your main steam installation The important thing to remember is that for each alt steam account that you want to idle, you need to make a new folder and copy the contents of your main steam folder into it, except for steamapps. It is to this folder you need to change directory to before using the mklink command.
For some reason it signs in all the steam accounts and then it stops doing anything. (Also on my third account it wont sign in at all (2 errors, not enough hard drive space (lol there's 200 gig's left) and no internet connection? ) Anyone that could possibly help me out? :) Thanks in advance. Edit: It tells me on every account that no connection could be made :s
I keep getting this error, over and over and over. Anyone else?
I have that error on rare occasions. I usually terminate the sandboxes, empty the sandbox contents and then delete any account folders linked to those accounts to give myself a clean sandbox.

To do so, open Steam on each account and do the following: Settings > In-Game > Uncheck Enable Steam Community In-Game
Hm. TF2 updated today and now all the accounts launched are validating, is this normal behavior? I did the Copy GCFs procedure, also. [editline]23rd March 2012[/editline] Well that doesn't seem to happen anymore, however now I consistently get this error when launching an account that's sandboxed. Any advice to fix that there?
I can't launch all the accounts because of the No internet or No space issue. Though, running it unsandboxed works. Something's wrong with the idle setup.
Can you add to options launching steam's in /low priority?
Reposted.
These are the two errors i keep getting: :S
Check a mk links for yours account. And,.. may be you have a small hard drive disk? Or due wrongful mk links steam start try to download TF2 on your small hard drive disk.
Check a mk links for yours account. And,.. may be you have a small hard drive disk? Probably the mlink mistake, but if i click on the shortcut thats in each of the idle account folders, it doesnt go anyware (I thought it would have gone to the shared one)
MK links works just fine when I press EM they go to the main steam folder. The problem is that, it simply won't work because when start it with sandboxie it tells you that a file is way to big for sandboxie (gcf file) therefor it's obvious that you get the connection and disk issue because they try to download gcf files to each specific idle folder and not using the mklink.
Hm. TF2 updated today and now all the accounts launched are validating, is this normal behavior?
Be sure to run an unsandboxed instance on one of the accounts.
Be sure to run an unsandboxed instance on one of the accounts.
No matter if unsandboxed or sandboxed, just update TF2 on one of them before.
I understand that this is supposed to be completely legit and that nobody has gotten in trouble from it etc....but I have one question... Has anyone actually asked anyone from Valve whether or not this is considered cheating? I mean, running multiple TF2 instances at once seems legit....but I don't wanna get banned.

It pretty much came down to, that they are ok with it, since your are not manipulating the game in any way like the (previous) idling method, where manipulating was involved. krh, did you make a copy of your steamapps or are you using the original? Either way, you have to have a copy of the Steam folder for EACH account, then you make the "mklink" in each accounts steam folder to your copied/original steamapps folder. So you could have it like: C:/SteamCopy . .blksith1 . . . .<copy a steam.exe in here and run it> . .blksith2 . . . .<copy a steam.exe in here and run it> . .blksith3 . . . .<copy a steam.exe in here and run it> But then you gotta have the steamapps, so we make them all have a mklink thing to just one steamapps folder. So it would be: mklink /d "C:/SteamCopy/blksith1/steamapps" "C:\Users\Kev\Desktop\steam2\steamapps" (Assuming that your steam2/steamapps folder has all this junk inside it, the GCFs and your user folders) Do that for each account. So after that, you have a steam directory with a working steamapps folder for each account that you want to idle.
Awesome program and doesn't have virus in it! To anyone trying to idle, first add account, then press on it, push yellow button named "Idle Unsanboxed" and you're ready to go.
How did you scan like that?
How did you scan like that?
Any of these. https://www.virustotal.com/ http://virusscan.jotti.org/en http://www.novirusthanks.org/

Uh. You put the file path of whatever YOU have. I don't know what your folder structure is like though.

Can anyone help me? I don't know what to do with the Steam API key. I see that it's only in the main settings window, which means there can only be one key? For which of my 8 accounts should I make the key for?
