• Tips on using the Huntsman?

Find yourself a nice corner, preferably one near a chokepoint, put your crosshair at something resembling head height, and pop out for a millisecond every time you've got a fully-charged arrow. You can outdamage a Heavy point-blank like that. Most importantly, remember you don't actually have to be accurate- the Huntsman uses projectile hitboxes, so even a miss can be a headshot.
Charge your shots they do a lot of damage. Also try to attack people at medium-long range, short or long range targets are too fast or the arrows are too hard to aim.
Use quickswitch to store a fire arrow.
use quickswitch to store a fire arrow.
if i only knew that earlier, fuck, i only fired fire arrows so they dont go to waste since i go slow holding it, and pressing alt fire would make me douse it. Jesus christ, this information will save my fucking life next time. Fuck...
Huntsman IMO isn't really a "long range" weapon. I mean it can be, but long range kills with it IMO are luck, unless the enemy is being perfectly still and you mastered knowing how the bow arches over certain distances. Its really good at close range though. Its also really good for taking out buildings quickly, I think a fully charged arrow does like 9/10 damage to a tier 3 sentry. Two Snipers with Huntsmans could possibly auto destroy a sentry gun and its Engineer if they are lucky. Too many people try to use it as a second sniper rifle, but its more like an ambush weapon. Walk around tight corners with it out and even if you run into a Heavy, he has to wind up his Minigun before he can start shooting, unless he uses the shotgun, but almost every Heavy I see uses sandvich, you'll be able to hit him with the arrow. Its effectively a close range Heavy killer weapon, if you can aim well. Dont try shooting it into the air and having it land on someone though, thats what the needlegun is for.
Dont try shooting it into the air and having it land on someone though, thats what the needlegun is for.
It's extremely inaccurate and hard as fuck to aim, even for somebody like me who's really good with both the bow and needlegun, but you can twitch shot an arrow over a hill or whatever and actually do some damage if you do it right. Maybe 1 in 100 hits will be that lucky headshot you needed, and probably 1 out of every 1000 will actually hit, but sometimes it's worth just taking the shot. It's usually better just to man up and take whatever fire is coming from where you want to throw one and have an actual decent shot at hitting.
shoot it a little above the enemy's head
shoot it a little above the enemy's head
apply directly to the forehead

Get 150+ hours of soldier to get used to enemy prediction and psycology. Knowing what the enemy is thinking is how you can play projectile classes well. Also, play the other classes too. That is to be said with every class and game play. To know your enemy and your self is the ability to win a million battles with little effort. <3 getting headshots on enemies when they round the corner. :D Also, aim directly between their eyes height wise. The arrow, like the sniper and flare gun have a special damage drop off where it increases with range. So fully charged body shots at long ranges are great to get a quick shot off when they are near by.
Aim directly above the head for headshots, shoot to where they're moving which takes a bit of practice due to the class speeds and something I do is move towards cover while i'm shooting so when I fire I'm basically behind cover.
Don't try to actually aim. Just shoot out of instinct.

Shoot into crowds.
Humm, I can't explain what I do, but I hope this pic can explain my tip :
Taunt. Actually: Aim head height, go around corner. The farther the target, adjust your aim upward VERY SLIGHTLY. It sails remarkable far at the same height for a bit.
It sails remarkable far at the same height for a bit.
This. This is why I suggested Balloon Race as a practice map, it has enough terrain that you can practice at short, medium, long and 'oh fuck how did you even see me' ranges, as well as practicing against moving targets, over hills/ledges, up hills/ramps, and even firing blindly over large obstacles that someone's standing on.
Hitbox = twice the size of enemy's head
sit next to a dispenser and spam a choke point like beginning of Dustbowl. Did it, got 8 points without even trying.
It's called the Lucksman for a reason
It's called the Lucksman for a reason
Yeah, because people like you won't stop whining about it. I see nothing wrong with the hitboxes, show me wrong. :colbert:
At Medium - long range, remember to lead your target by a few seconds. Also, it has very little curve when fully held back.
Always carry the SMG full bodyshot arrows like to deal 120 damage.

Personally, I use the Sniper rifle, because I feel it suits me the best, but I have used the Huntsman too for some time

I do the exact same thing with it, especially on maps like 2Fort when I'm defense. Just a random projectile down a hallway can save your Engineers' nests from the random cloaked Spy unlucky enough to be there.

I have caught many spies by firing flares down corridors.
dont use it
Huntsman + Smg is a great combo. Most of the time if you hit somebody with an arrow, they retreat for a medic giving you time to kill them with the SMG. Also, take full advantage of the broken hitboxes. I've had times where a low shot just completely locks onto a head or a shot that's a couple inches off but as it passes their head it kills em.
