lord i fucking hate steel On topic, I rather prefer Yukon or Fastlane. Five CP maps are always fun because of the back and forth, alongside everything else. I always found myself to enjoy them. Granary and Badlands are two of my favorite maps due to this. Also, Ctf_Turbine.
Here in Australia there is like 10 Turbine servers..
All running Pinion, and about 7 of them have even less life in them then a Russian brony hydro server. I'm just glad some new random map servers have opened up.

I played some of these maps recently Only one I have not played in a while is pl_frontier That and I want to see a map that uses a Death pit like Steel and Nucleus in a 5cp fashion around the middle point.
plr_pipeline koth_harvest/koth_harvest_event ctf_doublecross ad_hunted cp_lushbowl cp_warmfront ctf_theskatingrink ctf_facing_worlds pl_metropolis_b5 It's been a while since I've seen a server running any of these, and the ones that do, are either empty or full of bots.
Valve Payload Race servers run Pipeline, Hightower and Nightfall. Then there are RUGC servers (reddit), they're tryhardey but sometimes they have these silly days when they play less srs maps. RUGC_Europe has snipers disabled on ctf_facing_worlds and low gravity. plr_nightfall_final
Maybe its just me but i hardly see anyone playing cp_foundry.
cp_well is a sure one. It reminds me of the earlier days of TF2.
Furnace Creek. THIS ISNT EVEN PLAYED
cp_gullywash_final (This isn't played on HK servers that much) tc_hydro ctf_doublecross (I haven't ever played on this map...)
convoy
Furnace Creek. THIS ISNT EVEN PLAYED
Yeah I like Furnance Creek and it's pretty well made. Considering the guy who made it also made Hoodoo and skinned Mann Manor I'm surprised Valve never made it official.
Am I the only one why wish the map names differ between attack/defense maps and control point maps? For god sakes, if I want to play a good game of cp_5gorge or cp_foundry, I don't want to have to go through several hundred cp_dustbowl and cp_orange_9x_clantag_1337pr0sniprs to get to them. For underplayed maps, many custom maps like croissant and cranetop need to be of more rotations, as well as the other plr_pipeline, since when you type in plr_ all you get is hightower (don't get me wrong, it's a fun map, but is way different from pipeline in terms of rules and design

no official map in the game uses the Swamp theme even though all the assets for it are official sad
no official map in the game uses the Swamp theme even though all the assets for it are official sad
Yeah you would think Valve would use those assets to make a map. I haven't even played very many community maps with the swamp theme. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Koth_Moonshine.
Speaking of, custom maps in general are seemingly never played anymore. maybe I remember this wrong, but i seem to recall almost every server running custom maps in one form or another, stuff like Durango (or desperado, whatever it was called), Haarp, Frontier before it was official, houses of cards, those endless varieties of maps on 2fort's intel table, and all those innumerable other CP and CTF maps that have faded into the ether of history. what happened?

Most server operators don't want to give up those potential players. From what I understand CS:Go matchmaking/quickplay does work with custom maps in the steam workshop. I would guess that after TF2 is converted to the Steampipe delivery system Valve will add custom maps support to the TF2 workshop and allow servers running Steam workshop versions of custom maps to work with quickplay like CS:GO.
Egypt, I really like the different setting and the layout works really well for me when I play Spy.
no official map in the game uses the Swamp theme even though all the assets for it are official sad
They were bought because cp_mountainlab uses a lot from it, the sad thing is the skybox textures and particles from the pack aren't in the .GCF even though Valve bought them
cp_gullywash_final (This isn't played on HK servers that much)
I adore Gullywash. I think it's up there with my top 5 favorite maps. I guess my top 5 are, in no order: Warmfront [including Coldfront], Gullywash, Badwater Basin, Granary, Process (_rc2 I guess). 5CP is easily my favorite mode. I really enjoyed the few times I've played on ctf_mach4, despite it having some inherent problems. It's a really fun map.
arena_lumberyard I really love it and I don't see it played much anymore.
Egypt, I really like the different setting and the layout works really well for me when I play Spy.
Egypt is a spy playground
I really wish Valve did more in general with the assets they have.It seems like such a shame that three out of four official MVM maps are desert themed while the Swamp, City, and Egyptian assets have nothing.
