On some classes you'll never see your melee and rarely see your actual weapon. I screwed myself over as Soldier because I didn't know the game stealthily swapped my Disciplinary Action for the Escape Plan.
I'm sorry for this "rant", but what the fuck is wrong with you guys (at least a handful of those who're here)? First Valve adds the VR and gives it full body awareness, people say they want to play TF2 with that feature (reasonable).
Then, as Valve returns from their vacation, the release an update which lets us play with body awareness, just as if we had the VR Headset, without actually needing to pay money. We get (partially) the same treatment as the VR buyers for free, yet there are complaints like how low-res the arms look and stuff like that.
You can't be serious.
Oh, so you're saying Oculus Rift with normal viewmodels would be the same thing as 2D screens. And then you question other people's logic.
how're you doing first-person taunts?
Is there a second command to change the view to First-Person World for TAUNTING? Because the FP-World view im on isn't doing it. :x
how're you doing first-person taunts?
Command "tf_taunt_first_person 1"
I wish you could see your weapons a little better, but this is still way past cool.

Disregard this reply, I was on the phone and didn't have the time to fully read the post.
But it still makes no sense since you didn't pay for that command. You paid for VR headset that is made by a third party company, Valve gets no money when you buy one and Valve is the company that made those commands. You could have made your own VR headset in a cave with a box of scraps and have full legal access to those commands, absolutely free.
It's a bit like saying that if I bought a 1000€ rig the same day as built your own out of spare parts that you found lying by the side of the road, I have the right to complain about TF2 and you don't since you paid no money for your rig.

-snip- I guess I missed your point
someone should make a mod that displays shutter shade overlay if you have the shutter shades on

I meant that Valve never HAD to give us 2D players that option, yet they did (probably because of high demand), but yet people aren't happy with what they got.

When are we ever completely 100% satisfied with an update?

What they could do is, while in this mode, the HUD would have a little icon of the weapon currently out, even if there's an ammo counter. It would help know exactly what you have out.

They never had to update the game. They don't have to add new features. It's not even a paid game, so why would they? It always spawns a ton of bugs.

It's useless though, as Scout you can't even see anything unless you look right at your feet
Vertical Market Gardens look pretty snazzy. Too bad vertical market gardens are hard to pull off against anyone competent :/

My god high fiving in first person is so much more pleasing.
And I never thought seeing the character give a thumbs up in first person could be so adorable.
Oh, here's something you folks with really good PCs out there might like: GPU-enforced SSAO looks excellent with this setting enabled. The worldmodel will interact with and shadow the world, models, other players, and itself.
And the Texture Improvement thread guys thought I was kidding
how're you doing first-person taunts?

Cross-post from the update thread
cl_first_person_uses_world_model 1
tf_taunt_first_person 1
alias bodytoggle "toggle cl_first_person_uses_world_model 0 1; toggle tf_taunt_first_person 0 1"
bind 6 "bodytoggle"
Or if you want them separated
cl_first_person_uses_world_model 1
tf_taunt_first_person 1
alias bodytoggle "toggle cl_first_person_uses_world_model 0 1"
alias taunttoggle "toggle tf_taunt_first_person 0 1"
bind 6 "bodytoggle"
bind 7 "taunttoggle"

Replace 6/7 with whatever keys etc
Anyone else experiencing invisible player models sometimes when using this? I think its when you first spawn with them. Since I have my toggle it's good, but still that's a bug needing fix.
Other than the sometimes glitchy animations and poor melee control, I really like what this update did for TF2.

You expect the oldschool pack to look good?
Anyways, i always noticed that in thirdperson shoot anims never played, and it seems to be the case with these too, anyone know a fix on that?

You mean like there's bullets and effects coming out, but there's no evidence of shooting from the way your character moves?
-snip-
valve pls
It's a bug with the thirdperson that this command makes use of.
Sorta wish they would hybrid the two modes like they did in L4D1.
Yep, it would be nice to have more commands in general, like world model coordinates according to camera etc.
I'm going to assume they hide hats by hiding everything attached to bip_head? Couldn't they hypothetically hide the arm bones and overlay viewmodels or something

Do I remove the quotation marks when I put this in?
Do I remove the quotation marks when I put this in?
