Why not mix white and team color rather than yellow and team color mix?
Try this, it sounds sexy

The multicolored greens clash far too much, and the yellow bullets stick out. The bullets should be more orange-bronze. Also, the writing is barely visible and doesn't look that good. [editline]12:43PM[/editline] More king?
It looks great, could you do a version with the darker pants too?
Already doing so. Half of the dark pants ones are done so far and all of the light pants ones are done.

White? Heck no. Yay, I can finally get my hands on these trails, thanks
[IMG_thumb]http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/7919/borntokillmaggots.png[/IMG_thumb]
I'm not going to lie, it looks like you made the texture in MS Paint. I'm a huge Full Metal Jacket fan, and I love the idea, but the execution is... less than stellar. The model is strangely shaped and a little lumpy. And I say work on the texture a bit more and try to get it closer to the TF2 style. The game uses a relatively limited color palette and a very subtle hand-painted look. You'd be better off drawing from the existing colors in the game and not using fluorescent greens and yellows. It also looks really stretched and blurry, so you might want to crank up the resolution a bit. But it's certainly not a bad first attempt, and the idea is very much a good one (I always thought the Soldier's Stash was cool, but needs moar FMJ).

I have a problem with particles on the shovel...
fffffffffucking hell i want those HD PLDX quality particles goddamit
Same, but its a shame some of the effects won't be aloud to work because of the "cheat" that could be in it. IE: the muzzle-flashes and spy smoke.

It's not m first model, though, and I know I'm terrible at texturing. I don't really know how to texture the cameo properly, and Cameo doesn't really fit into TF2, but I have no idea what to put there. The writing, I will admit is a but hard to read, but it mostly has to do with the what I set the light in the model viewer, making a big glare appear over it. I have no idea how to redo the texture, though. I don't have any ideas. Should I just scrap it?
They do.
actually no, I have reinstalled them twice already with only the soldier's Backpack showing up on screen...
Well looks like the majority of people have decided on the standard teamcolored variant of the "Carpenter's Cage" I happen to agree, I think it looks the most visually pleasing, but also the patterns overcomplicate things, and I want to keep things simple, not to mention some people were stating it looked to modern in the clay render so I don't want to overcomplicate things for that reason. Donksuli in reply to what you said the frame is not meant to protect against shrapnel, it's for woodwork/carpentry, even then this is TF2 we're talking about nothing has to be realistic. If you read at the top of that post those renders were before I made changes to the mesh, if you look at the top of last page you can see those changes (you can also see the new mesh bellow). This change looks more visually pleasing and is more polygon friendly anyway. Anyway I've gotten to the clipping issues Metroid48 Pointed out and the Ambient Occlusion issues on the new mesh version, I also tidied up the logo a bit, it looks more crisp and clean now. Hopefully this will be the final version this time round: Before: After:

References are extremely important when making your model, so I'd definitely go back and take a closer look at the actual helmet and model it to match a little closer. The texturing is the difficult part, and can usually make or break a model, regardless of how good or bad the model may be. It takes a lot of practice to replicate TF2's hand-painted style, and I can't really give you much advice beyond practicing with it. This tutorial is extremely helpful as well.
It doesn't need teamcolours. That's the third time someone's quoted that post on this page without using it.
The teamcolors aren't there just for the sake of having them, this is starting to get on my nerves, please read what I've said before in previous posts rather than looking at one post and replying to that. The teamcolors are there to diffrentiate it from the default hardhat, and make my hat look more unique, because a lot of the pieces are very similair to engineer hats already in the game i.e headphones = Safe'n'Sound and hardhat = default hardhat. So I'm trying in many way to diffrentiate it and make it look original other than just putting a frame on the front. Not to mention everyone rated that they preferred the teamcolored variant visually anyway.

I don't understand why it needs teamcolours, when the default yellow looks so much better.
Alright, gonna release the two buttons add-on. This will add two additional buttons to the menu. This is what I've always thought when seeing the progress of you making it. I think it would look a lot better than now. Refer to this: http://www.qualitysupply.com/images/misc/PF-woodsmen-helmet.jpg Note that the mesh is very small, at a distance, it would look like a plastic screen.
