Alright I'm done. I'll put this up for a vote.
[img_thumb]http://static.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/tick.png[/img_thumb] The top one. Leave it alone, realism is the best thing ever.
[img_thumb]http://static.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/cross.png[/img_thumb] The one below. Looks like a toy gun but that's okay because I sure love toy guns!
It's not so much realism as it is keeping with the TF2 style. While TF2 is cartoony and has some artistically disproportionate designs for things like characters, most weapons are actually fairly straight and normal-looking.
The only reason the gun seems too "realistic" for TF2 is because of its amount of "serious" detail and lack of defining quirky features like bright colors or unrealistic/"worn" attachments/parts. Usually brown and grey is reserved for the base default weapons while the unlockables always have team-coloring or some other crazy feature. Example: The shotgun is grey and brown, but the Frontier Justice has a team-colored "crit-charge" attachment, rosier wood, and fancy patterns.
I think the first, straight design is better. It just needs something else to define it as a non-standard TF2 weapon. It's hard for me to put it into words, but I guess one way to look at it is default TF2 weapons are "just guns" while unlockable TF2 weapons are "guns with style". I think you should chip some parts of it, wrap something around it somewhere, and maybe put an emblem, pattern, or paint on it. It's a Soldier weapon, right? Try to think of what an SMG would look like after the Soldier took it to war and back. What kinds of things would he do to the gun to customize it?

Just like Swizzle's Polycount pack. They would work great as default weapons, just not as unlockables.
Ey guys, I have a question, How do you import tf2 models into blender?

It's currently just a gun either way, the alteration was more about bringing the proportions closer to what TF2 has, since they are most certainly not normal looking, at least not in the way the top version is.
Now I'm not giving up on the gun, but if I were to bring it into non-standard territory, I'd rather use the bottom model as the starting point, not the top one. I'm happy to see most people agree.
Doing things to the model, probably not. Texture, probably.
Why can I not unwrap my model
Neo, or Daimao, did you ever finish the texturing on that confederate cap yet?
Reposting in case either don't see this.

<pun about hats on everything because that's what we do here>
I accidently fucked some mesh up by creating a hole in it. Cap holes doesn't seem to work, now how do I fill the hole with faces again?
I'm using 3ds max 2011
Screw this, I just filled it with a spline.

What if you released... BOTH?
Someone should make this for the L'Etranger.

Basically it's the same gun (Nagant 1895) but silence, pretty old though, Russian Recons used them in WWII.

Am I the only one who thought Team Fortress 2: Black Ops?
Anyways can someone redirect me to a good Guitar replacement for Pyro's axe?

Decent enough?
If not please say, just rating doesn't help.
I can't even tell whats going on in there
Default render most likely isn't doing it justice, give me a moment, I'll make the parts stand out more.

This something you're looking for?
Imo it still doesn't look any better than the previous pic.

Not bad for a beginner. :smug:
Is there a fix in one of these emporiums that fixes the big kills reload animation? I thought I heard someone discussing it a while back.

I'd say do something like this. Cups replaced by sappers, that box machine moved to the center, and a big ol' battery.

Is this going to be a regular sapper replacement (held in two hands, placed on machines) or a different kind of sapper weapon?

Not yet, but soon (very soon, hopefully) there'll be one.
What did you do?
He started on his FJ-Like Pistol. Look under that antenna-thingy, that's the pistols handle. Good job Recurracy. You should make that antenna Jiggleboned.

Function exactly like the regular, I've made sure to scale it so it will fit in his hands so its basically, a mini briefcase.
Also like the idea.

Pretty sure that's something else as I DLed it and it didnt change the reload animation. Im too lazy to see what it really did. :v:

Are you going to make custom animations for it? Like instead of flipping the switch he opens the case?
Check the frontpage, i remember a big kill of some sort on there
Not an animation fix, it's a remade AO map (I think that has to do something with reflections).
I arrive;
