[QUOTE=Hideous_;26511227]That's because the default minigun is using a special v_model, and this is using a c_model. Here's a comparison of the world model and view model for the minigun:
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/V4yJ2.jpg[/img_thumb]
As you can see, the view model has bigger barrels.[/QUOTE]
I made some good comparison pictures for this several pages back, too:
[img_thumb]http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/606/miniviews.png[/img_thumb]
The red lines show the actual view line of sight on each one.
[img_thumb]http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4347/miniviews2.png[/img_thumb]
And this shows the actual view.
The v_model minigun is customized to look larger and bring more of the gun's lower elements up into view. It also uses an older texture with differing colors, so I guess you could consider this a bit of a beta-era model. Doesn't make it bad, but it's never exactly been consistent with the world model.
I personally don't have a problem with the c_model version; it's not like you can't tell what the weapon is. With the exception of Natascha, whose ammo belt is totally out of view on the c_model version... I'm sure Natascha is one of the major problems they're dealing with with bringing all the weapons into the all-c_model setup. You can definitely tell that they're at least working on it since several updates ago they doubled the minigun's w_model texture resolution (so that it'll look good in c_model view). Of course, in the process they broke Natascha's texture and this is why Natascha is disgustingly shiny now. v:v:v

I know it's just me saying this, but I think it looks a lot better without the chain attached to it.

The parts I've painted yellow are the bits of tape on the minigun, right?[/QUOTE]
WOW let me fix it in 5 minutes.

what's with the [*insert mod name here*] thing added at the end of a ban reason
Means the ban was approved by a mod.
And this is at least the third time we have gone over this now.
Anyway, should hats and weapons have shadows affected by light sources? I found out the .qc command for this lately, and I was thinking about whether or not weapons and hats should use it.

For like a umpteenth time, it's to show that an older moderator approved of the ban since the ban was applied by a new recruit.
sorry, jeez.
Didn't know

Slowly but surely working t'wards the textures.[/QUOTE]
I think its late for this but, wouldn't it look a wee bit better if the barrel were more like this?

I may just be weird, but there is just something I dont like about that little curve there.

For the record, I prefer the one on the left.
Or, if people would prefer me to mix and match components or change something entirely, let me know.

That's a hard decision. While the left one looks classy, the right one has a lot more visual variety.
Personally I'd want whichever one looks closer to the movie...
[editline]sparkwire for mod 2011[/editline]
Actually, I looked it up:

If you made the scope's silver look more shiny like Doc's, I'd want the silver-scoped one no contest.

I couldn't get it to look quite right. If I could get it looking nice and shiny I'd totally do it, but as it stands it just looks really washed out and crappy, which is why I went for the wood scope.
Also, my friend suggested I used the colors from the right one on the left one:

Do people prefer this one?

Agh. I like the color scheme of the gun to the left, but I prefer the less saturated scope to the right. :byodood:
Rated [img]http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj142/pizzaman500/Heartbow.png[/img].
I'd say use the wood and the gold from the left one, and then use everything else from the right hand one.

Couldn't you try going for the kind of shiny the Ambassador has? I really liked Murphy's Ambassador from a few Emporiums ago with the envmap shine - There's nothing wrong with using envmap reflections here and there in TF2.
[editline]are you kidding me just do it[/editline]
Also for the record, I prefer the more faded wood of the right one.

Have you tried experimenting with lightwarps?
The ambassador uses a unique lightwarp that has a pretty nice shine to it.

Yeah it looked pretty terrible. I might try it again and mess with the values.

Here, install murphy's Ambassador and take a look at it in-game: [url]http://www.mediafire.com/?tkycsm49iwtha12[/url]
I think it's fantastic. If you got this kind of shiny silver working for your gun I'd be happy.
