My point was that what I showed had something interesting on it, I.E. the knotting, the little holes, and the button.
I already said what I had to say about the knotting and little holes etc.
I guess you rather hear it from Valve:
Details can be slightly overscaled or underscaled, or even removed if unimportant.
Keep things simple and clean, just enough to identify what an object is.
Character textures are less noisy/detailed than everything else in the game. Character items/hats should match that style.

Also, who said Flashy?
White stripe on a bush hat you're herding cows and shoveling crap with is quite flashy.
I made a quick mock-up of my white stripe idea.

Not QUITE the Hustler's Hallmark, eh?
Not quite a bush hat.
That stripe though is set to be only thing paintable on the hat.
Doesn't the Iron Curtain got a fixed viewmodel for people with a high fov? Means that the Heavy's arm is now visible.
iron curtain proves that c models are ghastly abominations.
Boring is what I'm going for then. I'm sorry that it doesn't appeal you.
White stripe on my book goes to the category of fancy. Fancy doesn't belong to manly bushman's vocabulary or accessory. It's not fashion statement. It's a hat you wear when sun is shining directly above you, there's clouds of cow dung dust in the air and you are wrestling with crocodiles.
[img_thumb]http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/3195/boringhat.jpg[/img_thumb]
Also, do a google image search for "bush hat". They are "boring brown blobs".
You could make it look like John Marstons hat
SSHHH. That would be a Bush Hat with DETAIL. Can't have that.
Let's see you make something better.

Now you're just being mean.
Problem solved! [img_thumb]http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/7839/etproblem2.jpg[/img_thumb]
New problem: It isn't aligned right! Unfortunately, it seems that the start and stop points for that type of cloak meter is the top of the screen. Nothing I can do about that, so oh well. Release?
i always hated that phrase
So have I.
Example Person: 'Oh, you don't like this book? Let's see you write something better!'
Me: 'I don't have to be an author to recognize a bad book.'

Even if you're not a cook you should be able to say something tastes like shit - or is delicious.

wow i'm eating lobster coated in shit but it's amazing because i don't know how to get a lobster
I do apologize for my rudeness. I get migraine headaches, and they tend to put me in a bad mood.
I like how hypocritical most of the ratings are on this page.

Well it's okay if you can admit it and apologize mang. :3:
Let's have a manly hug- Okay maybe not
I don't care, solid brown looks like Sniper is wearing a hardened, hat-shaped, turd.
Well, too bad. It's going to be brown no matter how much you cry about it.
It's going to be brown bush hat. Not brown hat with flashy white rim you can go to your local dance hall, just plain boring brown leather.
That's the way they make bush hats in Australia, that's the way I'm making it because that's what it fits the character. That's also the reference I'm working from. And as you could see doing little studying in google images you could see that the bush hats aren't very colorful like rainbows. That's just the way they are. Sad fact.
Of course I could colour it pink and orange. But that's not the look I'm going for. I'm making plain and boring brown bush hat for my self. If I like it enough, I might even send it to Valve to see what they think about it.
SSHHH. That would be a Bush Hat with DETAIL. Can't have that.
You obviously can't handle this like an adult. Why don't you just get over it and on with your life?
BTW, 256x256 doesn't leave much room for fancy detail. You might've known this had you made something by your self.

But he showed you one without colours that was detailed (and still extremely manly!) and you're still being a stubborn fuck about it. If you're not going to accept criticism why post?

Make a better UV and/or up it to 512 then. Either you don't want detail or you can't have detail. Make up your mind.
But he showed you one without colours that was detailed (and still extremely manly!) and you're still being a stubborn fuck about it. If you're not going to accept criticism why post?
And do you still remember what I said about it? Spoiler: I did accept criticism.
I'm stubborn about the colour, I agree, because that is exactly the look that I'm going for and I'm going to hold that ground - that is the way bush hats are. It is a hat that I'm making for my self, not for TheGreyFox, after all. But stubborn as fuck is uncalled for.
I've already added the Australia button to the hat too btw.
Not to mention the criticism what I have got hasn't really been constructive. "Add SOMETHING to it", like what? I've now added the Australia button to it. The detail in the Red Dead Redemption protagonist hat looks more western than Aussie with the feather and all.
The whole discussion about it looking like pile of shit in shape of hat isn't very constructive at all. Shit generally shares the colour of faecies. Many other things are brown as well, like bark on some trees.
Make a better UV and/or up it to 512 then. Either you don't want detail or you can't have detail. Make up your mind.
Valve says in the tips 512 is large enough for weapons and 256 for hats.
The double size would be pretty unjustified for the portion of the model that would really be affected.
Not to mention the detail I would've added in is too much detail on Valve's standards.
god just add a small belt with some teeth
What comes to extra detail, I'm already over the polygon guideline of 800.
Fuck that rule, Valve have been known to disregard most of their rule if they think the hat is good enough.
Many of the accepted hats do not follow the guidelines, many of the accepted hats have over 800 polygons.
I do apologize for my rudeness. I get migraine headaches, and they tend to put me in a bad mood.
I'm reposting this, it seems to have been ignored by everyone except Onirik.
It still doesn't make it alright. You acted like a dick when you posted, and if you made a point people are going to respond to that point regardless of whether or not you made an apology.

Yeah most of them are 512s.

My apology was basically saying that I wish I hadn't been a dick, and asking to be forgiven. Refusing forgiveness is a massive dick move in it's own right, IMO.

Mine would be at ~1000 tris atm. It's not limit, it's guideline. It's a ball park where the model should be around. Go over it and you shouldn't get too fancy with the detail anymore.
Yeah most of them are 512s.
Yeah, with good reason. I don't have one. It's too small of a detail, really.
I'm reposting this, it seems to have been ignored by everyone except Onirik.
I accept.
Most art critics aren't artists. Most movie critics don't make movies.
And the model is fine. I COULD make a decent skin, probably. I just haven't tried.
I only used it so you'd realize that you're being a dick and you havent even used it to judge, most movie critics watch the movie before judging it.
Edit : i read your above post, i'm glad you realized, sorrie bro.
Is there any way to port the Inventory to Gmod or TF2?
Unless it's a .bsp file, I don't think so. However, it would be pretty awesome to have an Inventory map.
