More likely than not that is the version with the broken physmodel.
IIRC, glow is defined by selfillum in the VMT. I don't know how you specify what part of the texture glows what color, but it probably has something to do with alpha masks, so your photoshop tut still applies with gimp. I could be completely wrong, but this seems like it from what I know.
Did that ghost sword thing ever get released? The one with the broken hilt that glows in the dark and shit.

To create an alpha channel in GIMP, you need to have more than one layer. Just create an empty new layer and you'll have the channel in the same place as the RGB channels.

Updated my loadout icons. I didn't make all the Poker Night items; just the Iron Curtain since it is already obtainable. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with the Enthusiast's Timepiece since Valve wasn't kind enough to provide a made-for-icons c_model this time. I'll ask once again - is there any way to have 2 alpha channels per material, one for envmap and the other for paint? envmapmask won't work because of the bumpmap. I tried creating a selfillum material and use its alpha channel for envmap but it DOES NOTHING

All they did was move all weapon/player models from content.gcf to materials.gcf to balance out the GCF sizes. Just reinstall.
