How about just making the band paintable? That way you can make all pillars paintable in a sensible and consistent way and it's different enough from the Billypenis. I know this has been suggested before but I really think you should reconsider. You're making the ellis and mannco cap paintable, pillars should be too imho (for sake of having ALL hats paintable).

Then make the gibus have only a paintable band. It's supposed to look shabby so having it in bright green doesn't make sense to me.

The point wasn't whether it actually looks better or not. Daimao's version undoubtedly [i]does[/i] look better.
The point is that the new paint map is [i]not[/i] what people chose to spend their paint on and the change will cause outrage for most owners.

Eh, I don't think that applies really. There is a difference between paying for a look then having that look changed and paying for an item obviously meant for testing purposes then having it made less exploitable.

One is a common tool item, some people buy it, some people trade for it.
Not everyone would hate the change, not everyone would like it.
It's not really a nerf to it, it's a makeover.
The other one is a weapon that is hard to obtain from drops, therefor a lot of people buy it.
Not many people at all liked the change to it, and the only real "exploitable" part about it was that its harmless projectiles could scare enemies which could in rare situations be useful as a distraction. It got a straight nerf.
I think changing a cosmetic item is a lot drastic change than changing the stats of a weapon.

How did I strengthen your point?
You said it's a bad change because it's only cosmetic and people payed money for it, and then said the Rocket Jumper was a good change because it effects gameplay.
I said it would be a good change because less people payed money for it and the change doesn't effect gameplay, and the change to the Rocket Jumper was bad because a lot of people payed money for it back when it was just moderately useful and but fun to use as a joke item.
It's a matter of opinion whether the change is good, I really don't give a fuck about the people who have already painted it.
A lot of them will like the change, some won't. A lot of people will now want to paint it while they didn't before.
It's a good change, and even if some people get mad, it's a change that doesn't affect gameplay.
The impact is the same though. You feel like you got ripped off. Doesn't matter if it affects gameplay or not.

When Valve fucks over the people with a nerf that only a very small amount of people thought was neccesary, why the hell should we care about a couple of people being angry over the paint on their hat looking worse to them when a lot of other people think it looks a fuckton better?
