Relic Entertainment produced the Warhammer RTS games, Games Workshop owns the rights to Warhammer itself. So Games Workshop is at fault.
IIRC, populus got a C&D letter, and stopped working, but later he either got an OK or decided to do it anyway and they're still in progress.

Hey Daimao (or anyone willing), could you try painting a weapon or two? Hopefully this isn't a dumb request; I for one would like to see what the items will look like painted for when Valve adds painting to weapons. If you need any examples, try heavy meleesand medic unlockable melees (change the liquid colour), pyro's default axe, flaregun and the backburner add-on
Valve have already said they'll add weapon colouring if it's wanted, so it'd be nice to have them look good when it is added.
He should 'privately' release it.

I dunno, the bottom one looks good.
Paint the wood, not the metal. Wood is more plausible what with the many hundreds of wood varnishes you can buy. Just add wood varnish as a drop/purchasable an only use natural wood colors. (pine-light tan, mahogany-dark brown/red)

Oh, okay. I know it didn't use a texture for each paint, but I thought it was a trick with channels, and that you could just invert the colors. Sorry then.

Sorry, I was just misinformed in the painting method. And it would kind of make it easier to edit paint with seperate textures, but what are you gonna do.
