I just made a joke like this to a friend on Steam, except I said the comic is slowly burning in a campfire made by the Engineer in Meet the Engineer. ENGINEER UPDATE! :v:
The pages are browning. Brown is the colour of the demomans skin! DEMOMAN UP- oh wait
The sword caption says The GIANT SWORD...words... How do you like the taste of AMERICAN STEEL, comrade. Also, since they switched demoman links to soldier links, and soldier links to demoman links, the american sword will go to demoman. At least, it would make sense.
Poopy Joe update! Actually, upon reflection, it's very likely that the items advertised on the Poopy Joe page are indeed update items. I have several reasons for believing so, most of which are absurd and unfounded, but surprisingly convincing. General: a. As someone pointed out earlier, it is indeed a model, as opposed to a drawing. I doubt that Valve spends their off time modeling claymore swords for kicks and giggles. b. Notice that the tools are manufactured by MANN CO. Yes, so was that Baccarat Detector, but that's irrelevant because I say so. 1.) The Claymore (the page refers to it as a GIANT SWORD) a. The claymore is a weapon which has a notable place in Scottish history; and by that I mean it's damn cool and we like it. b. Most importantly, it's purpose. Demoman is severely disadvantaged in close-range combat. How does one remedy this? Give him a fucking big-ass sword. He's able to space himself from his opponent more effectively while doing damage without blowing himself up. 2.) The Bugle a. The bugle has a general association with a military background. American military institutions use the bugle to announce events... whatever, you get what I'm saying. b. The purpose of the bugle is, well, unknown. I assume that it's a replacement for the soldier's secondary weapon that will give him some form of temporary bonus when blown; say, a reduction to damage taken for a short period of time. The soldier, despite being extremely versatile, has a limit to his ability and survivability. There's a quick falloff from the "Hahaha, take that" to the "Oh shit, how the fuck do I live". Yeah it's vague, I'm just speculating here.
Also, since they switched demoman links to soldier links, and soldier links to demoman links, the american sword will go to demoman. At least, it would make sense.
Wait, if you're talking about the newspaper page, they didn't switch it. The number of dead Demomen is related to the Soldier's side, and the number of dead Soldiers is related to the Demoman's side, so it makes sense like that.
Yes, so was that Baccarat Detector, but that's irrelevant because I say so.
The Baccarat Detector would have been a much better one-off joke item to implement in-game. What Spy doesn't want to find a good game of baccarat? (And none of that punto banco bollocks.)
yea, a giant sword fit's tf2 very well. And why would they hide the new weapons in the most obvious place?
What about the Plate?
Because you are being a prick.
maybe it's for both classes
ninja You-you... YOU DOUBLE NINJA.
lovely!
The weapons looked modeled
1. Look again. 2. Please tell me you're kidding I'm pretty sure these aren't the future melee weapons. If they are, :wtc:
how is the claymore future?
I doubt we'll even get melees. I hope it's two secondaries again.
http://tf2.com/post.php?id=2391 You have just been proven immeasurably wrong.
They did the same thing with the sandvich. That one was a joke anyway, until people were saying the sniper needs some sort of team helping unlock, in which they thought of a crit boost. In that post they said LOL HERES NEW UPDATE. That's not even close to hiding that's just sarcasm (which ended up happening). What they did here is they made a page that mentioned a common object and then HID it. Obviously people are going to be looking for some hidden stuff. Anything they put in this hidden page is going to be severly speculated. What other unlock was HIDDEN in a HIDDEN page? And the only reason JARATE was made real was because they needed a team helping unlock for the sniper, what form it was in wasnt even relavant. Put skins on it and it's nothing alike. Hell, play in black and white and it's just crit juice.
I'm thinking the bugle would be a team buff item. Like It has a recharge time, but when you use it, it grants temporary mini-crits to teammates in your vacinity. Just a thought though.

I was implying that Jarate was "hidden" because it was so absurd that no one would seriously consider it to be relevant or real. By the way, how do you know that they did not decided to include Jarate in the sniper update until a later date (rather, tack on the design to the concept)? I'm not arguing, I'm just wondering if there's a source on that. As I mentioned, these items actually have feasible roles for the class they supposedly belong to: The sword remedies the Demoman's problem with close-range combat, and the bugle provides the soldier with a situational weapon (again, speculation).
Oh man, imagine the awesome Highlander quotes if the demoman really does get the claymore. If the Soldier does get the bugle, his taunt will obviously be the Trumpet "Chaaaaarge!".
Wasn't the pickaxe just a prop from Dustbowl? Also: [editline]12:44AM[/editline] oh god now you know my email please don't hack me D:!!!
oh god is that german? Daiamoaoawaoha will you have my babies?
Wasn't the pickaxe just a prop from Dustbowl?
Yes, I think so. Actually, I see a lot propped up against crates.
*Awesome stuff goes here*
hmm, what would they need a model of saxton hale for? :tinfoil:
hmm, what would they need a model of saxton hale for? :tinfoil:
Meet the Medic, Meet Saxton, a new gamemode involving Saxton Hale, shits and giggles or a combination of those four?
Meet the Winner where Saxton presents the winning class with their amazing new parachute.
Maybe he makes an appearance in a 'Meet the' video. Meet the Announcer perhaps? I mean they obviously had Ellen McLain in to record new lines, and I highly doubt it was just for the 'Friendship' lines...
oh god is that german? Daiamoaoawaoha will you have my babies?
I'm pretty sure it's not German.
I bet they have a bunch of awesome Saxton Hale posters up in their offices
But sources tell me he looks exactly like the Medic. stop it youre ruining my title as Jesus of the Automerge.
Uh there's a mine called a Claymore. It's probably that.
