That's a crate I would actually feel like opening, because even if you get a paint you didn't really get ripped off in a way since the price is the same.

Doubt it. Everyone sets a price of about 3 hats in trades, but everyone has one. They're as rare as a gibus, as I've said before.
Indeed, it's a lot better than all the other crates because (I hope) you won't get weapons from it.

I remember I once freaked out in a different game because everything was bright green and pink and I thought my graphics card was overheating or something.
Turned out the reason for the colors was hitting a button called "generate random teamcolors".

They do, crates don't use the same drop-rate.
Guys, I have an idea for Valve! Let's make them add a Transparent Paint! It would have to be very rare though, so not many guys will run around with their transparent hat.

Yes, they do.
The drop cap is decided based on hours played that week, not items found that week. It's 11 hours, AFAIK, which is about 6 items, give or take depending on your luck. The fact that they don't drop at the same rate doesn't mean you're going to get one after your cap expires, the same as with hats.

I know they drop at different rates, but the drop cap is decided by time, not by numbers. Valve had said this on their forums and if I could, for the life of me, find it, i'd show you.
