Um, all that's happened with MvM is that Grey Mann has attacked Mann Co HQ and failed. And his Mecha-Engineer has penetrated Soldier, Miss Pauling and Heavy's ultra realistic robot disguises. There's still an elderly maniac out there, with a pretty damn awesome base, cranking out robots. I don't think MvM's over yet.
@Lord Exor It's not because it's difficult it's because the man-hours put in to create content like new TF2 weapon stats, and if they are going to put in new weapons imo they better be interesting stats or gtfo, doesn't make sense when it's a bit of a gamble with return in happy TF2ers isn't much (in good will or $). It's the vital stuff at valve that always get done first. That's finish the game they have on open beta (DOTA) and port engine updates (Steam Pipe) that will make everyone who plays TF2 experience a bit better. Pretty simple to see they have their priorities right
Maybe it's pay to play so when it comes as DLC for the Console versions those owners of CS:GO don't feel fucked over?
They don't think that way. TF2 on PC is a testament to that, look at the xbox version. I think it's because it's been made by an external company with their own goals.
MvM is finished; SteamPipe is a project that extends beyond TF2; and VR is a gimmick that isn't even widespread. Ultimately, these things are all comparatively easier than balancing weapons and maps, which Valve has stressed in interviews that they're less concerned with--BECAUSE it's difficult. That's laziness.
Adapting a game to be 3D while changing that game from one distribution system to another is no easy task, the VR headset likely took them a long time to do because it's hard. New weapons are nice though but with the content we currently have I'm sated for now.
Except you don't have to pay, you can trade to get tickets too.
Tickets have to come from somewhere... If you see your friend playing tf2 you should expect to be able to play with them. Ticket or not.

Plenty of TF2 console players were cheesed off about not getting any updates at all, if they weren't we still wouldn't of had people asking about possible TF2 console DLC all the way up until the last class update.
That's laziness.
No. That's prioritising.

And you people would have to be insane to believe that adding virtual reality support is more imperative than even balancing the gameplay. Remember all those Heavy unlocks? The ones you'll never see used? They need some attention.

Remember all those Heavy unlocks? The ones you'll never see used? TF2 balance, while certainly not perfect, is fairly good. And those heavy unlocks that we never see used? Yeah, they'll never be used - between valve's entirely reasonable policy of not altering the fundamental idea of a weapon and the fundamental idea of every minigun unlock being terrible, they're not going to change.
so CSGO is getting pay2play community maps hmm... that's... kind of bad if they bring it to TF2
Hey, I know we got off this subject an hour ago, but how can this even work? I mean, what's stopping one person from buying the map, downloading it to their computer, and then just pulling out the BSP file and dumping it onto FPSbanana or something? Suddenly, everyone can just download the map for free, or even put it on their server for more people to download.

First it's prioritizing, now it's because VR is more interesting? To who? The 1% of the population that's going to use it? And if Valve is so worried about altering products consumers may have bought, then they should have thought about that before they made said products worthless. You see, they already crossed that line; hell, consumers would be happier that the weapons were reworked into something usable. Don't defend incoherent Valve logic.

This one admittedly is terrible.
I wish the TF2VRH was actually a misc, and not a hat. I can't wear any sick hair with it and look like a robot warrior.
I think they're mostly testing out ideas as to how best to get more money to map makers. This one admittedly is terrible.
I would just be happy if Valve got more money to map makers by including more community maps in their updates so the map makers get paid by Valve and for new map stamps. It would nicely round out the major updates too since they have mostly just had 1 new map lately compared to 2-4 maps from updates the first few years.

Let's not forget, that all Valve's projects have something really special to get implemented in the future. Emotion Wheel in L4D -> Gestures in Portal 2 -> Typing on Big Screen. SteamPipe has the same story. Portal system. Cooperative mode. Workshop. They add something to a single product (mostly TF2 - their biggest sandbox), gain stats and make it better in other projects. VR? Yes, they're not working on their own VRH, but... they do work with some control device, which will use VR too. Experimenting has a higher priority than balancing? Well, how sad. Valve works for the future without looking back too often. About unlocks? Well... I see all of them in game. Natascha, KGB, GRU, Holiday Punch, Eviction Notice, Family Business. All of them. So I quite don't understand that "buff old weapons". They already work fine and if the only reason you want them to be buffed is "I can't see them" well, why don't you use them?
Although we were talking about that untradable unusual wilson weave, here have something legit that makes no sense as well. http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9450436 http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9423964 I think it's a glitch with trading that removes item attributes, some crates have lost their # as well (thanks to konkey dong for telling me this)
Unusual Hat without Effect That's just really I mean
"It's a normal hat with purple text, it's worth more than a hat with purple text and a particle effect"
If I were to get an Unusual, I'd get that one, because all the other ones are fugly.
What
Oh! I thought we were still talking about CSGO

Anytime someone asks what effect it is, you can say "Nothing"
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/9423964
"Themed as Hell for engineer? Check. [✔]" Not having an effect is a "theme" now? Jesus fuck, traders, get your shit together.
"Themed as Hell for engineer? Check. [✔]" Not having an effect is a "theme" now? Jesus fuck, traders, get your shit together.
It's the "Engineer gets nothing" theme, YOU get your shit together.
It's the "Engineer gets nothing" theme, YOU get your shit together.
Now if only it was a Medic item, instead, considering how Medic has even less weapons than the Engineer...
wait what where when
there're strings added to CSGO last night about paying for community maps to play them on official servers
"Grants access to Season One's featured community maps on Official Servers. Proceeds are divided among the featured map creators!"
Seems like the last update really borked some things http://www.reddit.com/r/truetf2/comments/1apm5v/psa_widowmaker_unusable_after_latest_update/ I guess we can expect a hot fix soon?
There's also a glitch where unusual effects will be stuck on every single player you spectate once you die.
also community items! but not items with hard coded particles for some reason (genteel smoke for example)
There's also a glitch where unusual effects will be stuck on every single player you spectate once you die.
Valve needs to market that idea; The Generous Crate; any unusual hats unboxed from this crate will not only be visible on you, but while spectating a player, your effect will be visible over them. Give the gift of stylish head-wear TODAY! Seems legit.
They broke the ingame item compiler too after the last update.
They broke the ingame item compiler too after the last update.
You mean it wasn't already broken??
