Has sv_pure been fixed in the beta yet?
I would have to believe so.
Very hopeful, the only reason Valve even put the effort to bring out these retroactive promos is b/c Valve is very vested in the project.
TF2 is taking its usual role of being the guinea pig of Valve's larger experimental plans. Valve cares about the project way more than they could care about extra Skullgirls DLC.
It doesn't rule out exclusive retroactive promos for the Skull Girls drive, but there is a huge difference in the reason one got accepted (I think Valve created it themselves) while Skull GIrls items didn't.
The game also isn't out yet so there's a chance that we may still see the Leviathan hat or Big Band promos when the game is released. It makes sense for valve to not do it for a kickstarter if they are busy working on other things but the release of a game on steam I imagine is something they would have more time for.
Oooh...while fighting against bitching by "Kyle", Fletch dropped this hintbomb:
All four games build out of the same source code.
CS:S does not share release depots, but it builds out of the same source branch. (This change was made by popular request, because an update to TF would often break CS.)
With the SteamPipe release, which is coming soon, we will no longer share any release depots between games. We will continue to build each game out of the same source code. There is no reason for them to diverge, although TF will be updated more frequently.
Replay is a special case; only a part of it is part of the "engine" per se.

ohmygod how many times do I have to post this message:
How long ago was email sent out, anyway? You should probably include that and what has been completed so far in the OP.
Oooh...while fighting against bitching by "Kyle", Fletch dropped this hintbomb:
Most of the updates for those games were largely for TF2 - is it surprising that this isn't going to change?
Oooh...while fighting against bitching by "Kyle", Fletch dropped this hintbomb:
YAHOO!!!

1. February 20th
2. I am not ned :c
Oooh...while fighting against bitching by "Kyle", Fletch dropped this hintbomb:
Does this not just reference the fact that TF2 receives regular content updates? Or does it imply something more meaningful than that?
Does this not just reference the fact that TF2 receives regular content updates? Or does it imply something more meaningful than that?
From what I understand, updates will become a lot more frequent than the pace it is now.
Oooh...while fighting against bitching by "Kyle", Fletch dropped this hintbomb:
woah
maybe there was a change of staff
I mean this last update included an ANIMATION FIX
that is fucking INSANE
1. February 20th
2. I am not ned :c
Oh, look at that. You're not Ned. This is news.
Thanks for date anyway, not Ned.
And according to that "4 weeks" update we should be getting Steampipe tomorrow.
TF2, CS:S, and other Source engine games BETAs update for 3/19/13 (3/20/13 UTC):
Via HLDS:
* Deleted sv_consistency convar. This security is now implemented using sv_pure.
* Changed which pure server configuration files are loaded in the various pure modes, and renamed them. (See updated pure_server_whitelist_example.txt for details.)
* Added “sv_pure -1” mode, which disables all consistency checking. (Similar to turning off sv_pure and sv_consistency.)
* Removed unneeded CRC calculations on level load
* Removed check_crc functionality from pure server operation. The only supported file rule is now “trusted_source.”
* Added trusted_keys_example.txt.
* Added/updated sound cache files
Rumor has it:
- DoD:S is to be first for the SteamPipe conversion to go live:
PLEASE NOTE: The Betas are drawing to a close. We hope to release Day of Defeat:Source early next week.
or lord, if the sound cache's get messed up it'll be like that overdose bug that existed when someone bugged them to implement the unused sounds.

anyone else with a particle hat/misc, can you check to see if people have the particles while spectating while dead. Anyone I look at while dead has sparkles and I was wondering if it's isolated or a bigger bug
So... pinion actually died?
Or i am too optimistic?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Pinion uses Flash Player.

FUCKING
damn it
Looks like Pinon is not dead but their ability to give us viruses is.
Didn't someone say that Pinion is pulling support for TF2 because it's not worth it?

This would be great
Please let it be true
And according to that "4 weeks" update we should be getting Steampipe tomorrow.

(Please don't hold me on that --- it depends on what bugs we find in the TF beta!)

Depending on how long ago that might've been, wouldn't they have pulled the plug by now?
The Portal 2 soundtrack is very nice. I like this trend of promos for physical items it really pushes me to buy something or at least consider purchasing something I wouldn't have otherwise. Not because I had no interest in it but I usually don't order things online but since I am a sucker for tangible things and TF2 stuff I really like it.
Has anyone else noticed the workshop link on the Team Fortress website doesn't work? Apparently they forgot to take the "beta." off of the beginning of the link.
They fix the Neon Annihilator doing this, but then other melees join the club.

The end is nigh. I think it was more likely a miscommunication and Valve is simply taking a break for the time being with Steampipe being hammered out and something else in the pipeline.
