Yes, you can put Ubuntu on a separate partition and then while booting up the computer, one of the function keys (Can't remember which) will let you choose whether to boot as Windows or Ubuntu (Or any other operating system you may have installed)

Alright, thanks.
Hmm, I might install Ubuntu as well, might as well use this 2TB external for something.
Sucks the Brutal Legend items haven't been added yet. The store said "TF2 items will be distributed on Thursday afternoon (14/2)" and now that's been and gone, they just changed it to "Not available yet".
Why couldn't they ship them with the Linux promo update?

I HOPE IT WORKS AND I HOPE EVEN MORE THAT IT DOESN'T FUCK MY COMPUTER

The installer should give you the option to make one during the installation process.
At least, that's what it did back when I was putting 11.something on my netbook a couple years ago.
Funny fact: Now that there is the Tux, everybody wants to install Ubuntu.

Its just a canteen reskin. I was really hoping for a tuxxy like item.

I would love if the Tux could be used as a canteen.

I don't know what you expected, since you are one of them doing it.
I'd rather just give someone my password for a few minutes.
Is it really okay to ask for someone to get a Tux? I'm thinking of getting one for future plans.
Wow, the mouselook in Brutal Legend's multiplayer beta is really, really bad. You can really tell it's a beta too, the tutorial video has the xbox 360 instructions with pc keys hastily put over the top.
Stoopid question: If i backup the Windows TF2 on Ubuntu, will it work?
Stoopid question: If i backup the Windows TF2 on Ubuntu, will it work?
What you mean using the backup utility? The one that creates an exe? No it's an exe dumpass.
Can anybody confirm me if I install Ubuntu on a 8 gb pendrive will I be able to start TF2 from there?
Any idea when the Brutal Legend promos are being released?
Something's wrong... Steam won't install on my ubuntu ;_;
I want a penguin.
I wonder how many people are going to fuck over their hard drives just for the penguin.

Used to be Thursday afternoon from yesterday...now there is no exact date.

Well, you know, you don't have to use ubuntu, I mean, that's valves faviroute, there's plenty of others out there. Like Puppy Linux, or Damn Small Linux, or SUSE, or Fedora, ect.
so installed tf2 on linux waited 4 hours and now i can't open it for a opengl error.

You know, as long as tf2 thinks you've booted it, it should work, I had the same error but I've got my Penguin c:
Although I ended up starting it in text mode.

I don't even understand how people can fuck this up. If ubuntu is the distro people are going with, ubuntu makes things so painfully easy you would have to go out of your way to ruin your hard drive. It has an installer for windows that, while running like shit, will get you a version of ubuntu that you can install/uninstall like a normal windows application. If you go with the option of doing a standard install of it, the installer will handle partitions and stuff for you to the extent that you drag a slider to indicate how much space you want for the system.
How do people fuck this up, do they make the partition themselves, do they format their current partition to change it to ext4, do they select the 'install ubuntu and remove the other os option', -how- do you fuck this up.
I've installed many versions of Linux before, Ubuntu is by far one of the easiest Linux's I've ever installed.
And now everyone starts talking good about Ubuntu. Damn not too long ago it was frowned upon.

Of course people are talking good about it, it's got a promo item.
Great, there foes my plan to install ubuntu.
Mum's started using her iPad, and since apple products are fucking bandwidth hogs, I can't even load a single webpage on my computer, let alone download an os. Guess I gotta find someone with Linux already installed to log on to my account so I get that penguin.

I don't recall this. I always thought the idea of a very acessible linux was great, and ubuntu is pretty much at that point. Lots of linux software has grown up too, gimp is no longer a piece of shit for instance, I'd go so far as to say the 2.8 release is much more photoshop competitive. I think steam/valve coming to linux is great too, games are a big factor in why many people wouldn't choose any linux distro as a main os. Ubuntu is fast becoming a viable mainstream operating system if recent trends are anything to go by, and of course the price is and has always been right.
