Odyssey is a cakewalk, it's just really long.

Gauntlet, Beginning of the End, and Rusty Warren aren't that bad.

Leaky Kringston is the most difficult stage in the entire game by far; every single person who's perfected the game have unanimously agreed that it's the hardest.

You have to turn on the gamepad in controls, or launch it through Big Picture.

Runner 2 does have Retro Challenges, they're just accessed by unlocking them instead of being at the end of every single stage.

It's absurd how half of the entire game was locked off to the point of requiring you to play the first half of the game [I]every time[/I] you wanted to access the second half.

I saw the store pic, but thought it was just one of the 5 worlds, what with them mixing up the visuals a lot. I haven't actually seen any of the official trailers, just some gameplay vids :L, hence my confusion

Since you're out of it, I'll explain further.

In some stages, you'll find a floating Famicom cartridge. When you grab it, you'll be warped to the retro challenge.

You have only 3 lives, if you lose all 3, you are ejected from the challenge and continue the stage where you left off. Once you've played a retro challenge, you can access it from the worldmap whenever you want.

When you try to access it from the worldmap, it'll still have the 3-life limit. I asked Alex Neuse about it, he said that they'll likely make it unlimited lives at a later patch, because having a life limit when accessing it from the map just makes it tedious with load times, much like Super Meat Boy's "glitch" stages.
