That's part of the problem, but it's more the fact that there's no good currency sink to remove metal from the economy in tf2.
For example, in World of Warcraft, gold is needed to repair gear and buy things like mounts, new skills, etc, and since they're things players actually want and cannot be traded for (like hats in tf2), so it gets removed form the system enough to counteract inflation.
So after about 1 day of playing, this is what the counters on my Widowmaker looked like:

Though I removed the "Cloaked Spies Killed" counter and added a "Scouts Killed" instead.

Black Ops 2's story was pretty solid.
It's fun getting together with friends in a party and playing Team Deathmatch. It's just so much fun.
