Major Update Speculation Thread XIV: Roman Numerals are the Best Edition
, and I'm sure MVM maps are easier to make then most other game modes (besides maybe Koth).
I'll take the presumption you've never made a (finished) map and walk away at that..
Attack Interval: -1.6s
Son, it does not work like that. "faster firing/swing speed" is an inverted percentage, which means the maximum cap is +100% (it actually doesn't fire at a 0 second attack interval. Rather, it just fires at an extremely fast speed that is below 0.001s). Things like "damage penalty", which is a regular percentage, has a minimum of -100%, obviously dealing no damage.
Recap:
"Percentage": Minimum Cap -> -100% (Can increase damage to nearly infinite if not going for the minimum cap.)
"Inverted Percentage": Maximum Cap -> +100% (Can slow down attack interval to nearly infinite if not going for the maximum cap.)
Never quite got how the stats worked like this. Assumed it was additive like this but that's really weird, +100% actually working, but basically giving an asymptotic value. I'd prefer it if instead of +50% swing speed they gave -50% attack interval, as +50% swing speed is actually false (In fact all item descriptions doing this are lying to you). It's technically an increase in swing speed of 100%
This really annoys me.
Also it's a shame that you can't have less than -100% damage dealt, a gamemode that makes all weapons heal for tens of millions per hit would be pretty fun and balanced as there is a maximum limit to your health which will kill you if you go above it.

Wow thanks
Oh WOW a square enix employee made the new tomb raider promo items
I wonder when they'll get the hint we all laugh at their goofy badges

never
Normally I'm against changing thread titles mid-thread, but I think it might be worth putting "V14" in it's proper place in the thread title. Currently, the thread is hard to google for, and it doesn't really match the previous 13 threads in series.
On the speculatory side, since I'll bet the skullgirls devs already payed for the Leviathan hat to be modeled, what are the odds they still try to use it as a pre-order bonus when/if they put the game on Steam?
Also, Portal Box.
This video going behind the scenes at Valve mentioned that Robin Walker's working on Dota 2 now. Which is fair enough because he's been working on TF2 for how many bloody years now, but it makes me wonder, who's heading up TF2 now?

By all appearances, ned, despite seemingly insurmountable barriers of "not employed by Valve."
Alternately, anthropomorphized winking faces. Either of the two at this point.
Robin has been working on DOTA 2 for a fairly long while now.
as has GreenMarine and other faces we were very familiar with
I have no idea who runs TF2 now. Jeep and... errr yea... don't really know beyond that anymore
Thought you all might like to know that the Cockfighter is tradeable now.

Did you remember to rub your strange jag before crafting?
I don't want or like the cockfighter - go ahead
But you could sell a craft number for even more hats to craft hats with.

I'd rather wait for the bioshock promos and blow a couple hundred hats on those.

I knew about GreenMarine and Finol, but not Robin.

Thanks again to those who have been testing. This update is around 100MB download.
Team Fortress 2 Beta:
* Synced with latest changes from release game
* Moved several more files into VPK
* Further load time optimizations
* Basic implementation of sv_pure working using signed VPK files. See tf/cfg/pure_server_whitelist_base.txt for more details.
* VPK tool: Added RSA public/private key generation and signing functionality. (Only on Windows.)
Known issues:
* Clients mounting custom VPK’s might still get kicked when connecting to pure servers.
* RSA key signing not working on Windows version of VPK tool.
* Linux/OSX clients might fail to connect to pure server.

I don't know how about you guys, but whenever they update beta I cry tears of joy.
We're finally getting a big optimization update. This is even better than MvM.
It's about time, too.
Still, the whole w/v model thing bugs me...
Bleh, optimization. The game runs perfectly for me, so it doesn't impact me one bit.
Also, Robin alternates between Dota 2 and TF2.

Yeah, screw those other thousands of people.

That's funny, since I recall you complaining about crashes a few days ago.
