Bleh, optimization. The game runs perfectly for me, so it doesn't impact me one bit. Also, Robin alternates between Dota 2 and TF2.
Your kidding right? TF2 runs like a pile of ass
Bleh, optimization. The game runs perfectly for me, so it doesn't impact me one bit. Also, Robin alternates between Dota 2 and TF2.
Selfish.
That's funny, since I recall you complaining about crashes a few days ago.
The Pyro crash that was inadvertently created by Valve, and it was fixed a few hours later. That has very little to do with optimization.
Addon system is best system.
The Pyro crash that was inadvertently created by Valve, and it was fixed a few hours later. That has very little to do with optimization.
so, who would react IF YOUR GAME RUNS AT FUCKING 200 FPS WITH MAX CONFIGS AND LOADING IN 5 SECONDS!? I´m too optimistic
The Pyro crash that was inadvertently created by Valve, and it was fixed a few hours later. That has very little to do with optimization.
Nope. That crash has been occurring for me for about 1+ month, and it still happens from time to time.
Sorry to say this guys but I think TF2 may have run its course.
Sorry to say this guys but I think TF2 may have run its course.
Hey now, not even I will admit to that.
Sorry to say this guys but I think TF2 may have run its course.
I've pointed it out before, but why would TF2 die out anytime soon? Look at previous Source games for example, Counter Strike and Counter-Strike: Source ARE STILL popular and some of the most played games on Steam close to a decade after the release of both games. And they're not even F2P games.
i can understand the idea of them working on dota 2 honestly, but then i thought of something: they're going to run out of things to do on it eventually, right? they've gone the strictly cosmetics path with it so far, so if they keep that path for the sake of the playerbase that dota and such attract, then that means once they get in the rest of the heroes, there really won't be much left to do from there, besides support you'd generally expect (fixes, maps, events, all the basics really) meanwhile they'll have their favorite little testbed in the corner, and whatever they might've thought of on their 'hiatus' of sorts finally have somewhere to go
I just want another update to bring some life back into the game
Valve better package some goodies in with the SteamPipe Update. Possibly the first Major Update of 2013?
I just want another update to bring some life back into the game
Uber update while filling the game with cructhy broken scrub weapons (soda popper, lib launcher) revitalized the game with a much larger playerbase *dont start that ftp bull; even b4nney, huey lewis, and co. all were bads at one point* furthermore we have good content updates still garrunted a Christmas, Halloween and summer update each year You cant constantly keep having weapon updates and shiz because things like new weapons have very huge ramifications on a game like TF2

Comp will always ban what it doesn't like anyway, so they're a nonentity.
Oh wow, I just listed my Cockfighter for thirteen dollars as a joke and now I've got it. Didn't think people would want the udder hat that badly. Cool though, I got nearly a 50% refund on Scribblenauts by selling the hat. Gotta love the market.
Valve better package some goodies in with the SteamPipe Update. Possibly the first Major Update of 2013?
I don't know if they will. I think the smart thing to do would be to ship the SteamPipe update, which will take a very long time to download, and then a few days to a week later ship a content update to show off how much faster the content updates will download.
This video going behind the scenes at Valve mentioned that Robin Walker's working on Dota 2 now. Which is fair enough because he's been working on TF2 for how many bloody years now, but it makes me wonder, who's heading up TF2 now?
I know this is a late reply to a late link, but I found it kinda interesting that Robin literally and outright said that TF2 was an experiment to see what they could get away with in terms of money, F2P and the economy.
Variety can only be a good thing. Comp will always ban what it doesn't like anyway, so they're a nonentity.
balancing towards the lowest common denominator (which is widely why so many crutch weapons, broken weapons, and half of the uber update exist) is one of the worst ways to balance a multiplayer game
Thought you all might like to know that the Cockfighter is tradeable now.
fucking finally
TF2 is pay to win apparently http://www.pcgamesn.com/tf2/crytek-ceo-team-fortress-2-not-real-free-play-game-sense
TF2 is pay to win apparently http://www.pcgamesn.com/tf2/crytek-ceo-team-fortress-2-not-real-free-play-game-sense
Oh course it is, why do you think people buy the hats to be better?
oh right.. they made another crysis.. is it 20$ yet?
TF2 is pay to win apparently http://www.pcgamesn.com/tf2/crytek-ceo-team-fortress-2-not-real-free-play-game-sense
He is technically correct. If a Milkman Scout faces another Milkman Scout and only one of them has the hat on, Then the hat-wearer will win assuming all other constants are the same.
TF2 is pay to win apparently http://www.pcgamesn.com/tf2/crytek-ceo-team-fortress-2-not-real-free-play-game-sense
I don't think he knows about the random drops? The only weapons I've paid for are the two jumpers and the Sleeping Dogs stuff, and I bought the Jumpers before they were "legitimized" and the Sleeping Dogs stuff was obtainable right away through the usual channels. You can get by perfectly fine in this game without buying a thing if you know how to properly use the services available, like TF2 Scrap and the Warehouse. Not to mention that crafting recipes are very often set up in a way that if you don't have the materials necessary to directly craft the item you want, using tokens will either get you the item you want or one of the ingredients. TF2 is very carefully set up to not require players to spend money.
Calling TF2 not free to play is ridiculous Almost as ridiculous calling homefront a real game
TF2 is pay to win apparently http://www.pcgamesn.com/tf2/crytek-ceo-team-fortress-2-not-real-free-play-game-sense

We would allow communities to create items for virtual currency, but you can't really go with commercial items because that's pay to win.
'We won't pay REAL money to item creators. They can have Crytech funbucks! That's how we're going to keep the game free-to-play. Valve pays it's contributors real money, which is pay to win in our eyes' Are you shitting me?
Wouldn't pay 2 win mean getting something that gives you an outright advantage? Because in regards to the Milkman set and stuff... Last time I checked, Scattergun was a stock weapon.
Wouldn't pay 2 win mean getting something that gives you an outright advantage? Because in regards to the Milkman set and stuff... Last time I checked, Scattergun was a stock weapon.
No one mentioned the scattergun. I'm comparing the Milkman Set to the Milkman Set w/o Hat. One of them is obtainable as F2P while the other is not.
Someone clearly hasn't play or even looked TF2 in a long time. Welp, he's just a CEO, what do you expect, to actually PLAY VIDEO GAMES? Don't be silly.
First-Time Launches (per time you boot up the computer) Launching TF2: 29 Seconds Launching TF2 Beta: 7 Seconds (+314.28% faster) Joining a TF2 Server: 74 Seconds Joining a TF2 Beta Server: 29 Seconds (+155.17% faster) Jesus fuck, I want the SteamPipe so badly. ;_; And I'm hoping that once Team Fortress 2 starts using .vpk, it will magically uncover a couple of files never seen before, like maybe "item_attributes.txt" and "cond.txt". I mean look how open Dota 2 is. I can just imagine, right now, on what item_attributes.txt might look like... [sup]Better than what I could come up with, that's for sure.[/sup]
He is technically correct. If a Milkman Scout faces another Milkman Scout and only one of them has the hat on, Then the hat-wearer will win assuming all other constants are the same.
It's not really grounds to state that tf2 'isn't real free to play'. The hat is still available for free, as a drop, can still be crafted. it even has a specific craft pattern. Valve have admitted it was a mistake, (and let's be honest, a small one) and haven't made any steps in that direction since. Yes, technically there is two or three items you can choose to purchase, that can give you a small stat advantage. But those cracks don't make the entire foundation crumble.
