New cloack: you can become a random prop from some restricted list. Like 8 or 9 props or buildings
I'd like disguise kit for engie buildings, the thing being if looked at for too long the mirage became more and more obvious that it was fake.
Scare someone off with a Lvl3 sentry so they instantly run back as they see it rounding a corner but if you stay for a second or 2 it's transforms into looking like a wooden cutout or something.
Longer time for a dispenser and teleporter obviously. More people looking at it more it deplete faster obviously. When i say look at i mean just in their POV not with crosshair on it
Oh and i should say, it's not attached to the spy, placeable

we already have a decoy weapon that fools nobody and it works out just fine. If the decoy attracted Sentry attention and had some decent health and rudimentary path finding it would be okay.

I guess that's true, but man we don't need another decoy weapon that doesn't fool anybody. The DR is annoying as hell as it is.
I can't tell if it's just the servers I've been playing on, but I've noticed that building gibs go flying around now instead of getting stuck in the air where they were spawned.
And you take more damage from Homewreckers when disguised.
homewrecker on dispenser spy should be instakill. :v:

Would be too obvious to spot due to the lack of lightmap shadows

I played 2 days ago and the gibs were still stationary
man, I never would have thought such a goofy bug would throw me off so much, but it really did. So many times I ran over to a broken dispenser to use it, or was cautious around a pile of broken sentry bits...
Has anyone else encountered the bug where if you build dispenser or sentry in the doorway to a spawn, and then destroy it, nobody can get in or out of the spawn until the gibs are gone?
This is probably an old bug, but I encountered it for the first time yesterday while playing on Gravel Pit.

It doesn't "work out just fine," it's a silly concept that shouldn't have ever existed, balanced or not. Due to the way multiplayer games work, it is more of an invisible uber than actually a utility meant for fooling people.
I don't know, the mindgames you can play with Engineers makes the DR's decoy gimmick work really awesome sometimes. I've fooled people a few times just by the shear number of fake deaths I had. After like 3 tries, I mean, I have to be dead right? (no)
Quite a few times I've seen people go in chat about how they finally killed that spy... and then I uncloak and sap more of their stuff
Hologram in halo was just horribly executed, didn't fool anyone since the things just ran in straight lines without looking about. doesn't mean the idea can't work if done properly
The thing about the Halo hologram was that sometimes, the best option was to make the enemies think you were the hologram, so they'd just ignore you as you walked in a straight line behind them. And in those cases, it worked VERY well.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: such a huge part of TF2's enduring charm is that it's never taken itself too seriously. I love the concept behind "jokey" weapon unlocks, and the Holiday Punch is such a perfect example. I don't think anyone can deny how much of a blast it is to convince an entire server to go Chuckle Heavies (or whatever cute nickname people have for the forced Schadenfreude + kill taunt move).
If balanced, well-thought out unlocks are as difficult to come up with as Valve wants us to believe, then I really have no problem with them adding some fun, frivolous unlocks into the game from time to time. A Medigun that allows you to Uber and control a ragdoll corpse for a walking undead meatshield. A Dead Ringer-esque watch that deploys a hologram that randomly taunts or tries to high-five the enemy. And, of course, Dispenser disguising/cloaking spies would be such a fun thing to have in the game.

If the nude scout's mom model is added to game files in the nearest future, we know what's coming

Nutmeg is pretty sexual actually.

Can we get a surprise update today?
TF2 staff are out of office.
Aesthetically speaking, I've always adored the idea of a disguise kit being a hand of 9 cards representing each class where the spy will hold them fanned out and pick one to disguise.
I seriously want to learn how to model just to make this.

That would be a very nice mod/weapon
Can we make a list of things that the TF2 team added and proceeded to never bother using?
-TF2 Beta
-Ability to make items use sounds (and a workshop tag for it)
-Decals
-Medieval Mode
-Territorial Control
-Special Delivery
It's interesting how their 'new content is better then perfecting old content' mentality leads to the game being somewhat patchwork... It's like, "Are you gonna finish that sandwich, Robin?" "Nah, it's gotten boring. I'll just make a new one *tosses half eaten sandwich into the pile of half eaten sandwiches*".
The sound thing was really odd. Not really sure why they needed a workshop tag for it.

So they could monitor what people come up with if they're set a specific theme or function and see if it's a good idea to use it in future?
Admit it. a Halloween tab would have made their job easier last year don't you think?
It would have
however, even the sound devices they did accept didn't end up having sound of any kind (Demo's Parrot for example). I mean, it was a neat idea, but if it was an experiment to see how specific tags would work, it didn't instill confidence in future ones.

Only slightly related, but am I the only one who wants the Demo's parrot to randomly sample recent voice chat and say it back at a higher pitch?
Because I really want that.

Wasn't demo's parrot having sounds an afterthought by someone else?

that's an awful idea
I still really want the pyro to get a parrot that replaces the pyro's voice responses with parrot versions of the other classes' lines.

Nothing like hear annoying micspam twice and at a higher pitch
