It's already rather difficult to see the particles as it is now. They blend in with the terrain quite easily. This is true for all of the particle-based WETA weapons.
They simply don't stand out like the rocket trails do, it's very clear where a rocket is, there's a dark projectile, and a bright and bold yellow trail to contrast it. Even if you can't see the rocket, the trail itself is certain to be visible, same applies for the inverse.
If you're in a situation where you can't see the particles on the Cow Mangler, Righteous Bison, or Pomson, well too fucking bad, you can't see shit.
Well, rockets don't normally have team colors, only when they crit
It wouldn't work if the Cow Mangler fired crits, but it doesn't

that's why I so badly want a purple one, or bison. firing purple lasers would be fantastic.
Painting particles was actually a good thing though. Dota 2 has paintable unusual effects and that seems pretty awesome (although for dota it was to fix a color bug and is no longer distributed)

Things won't get hectic until steampipe information gets released or the update itself comes out, which will be in tandem with Poker Night 2 being released.
