fixed up this quick comparison picture:
The Max's one is my favorite. The phongless one look cartoony. Opinions, opinions.
it also has this kinda metallic feel to it that i'm not really a fan of
Thiiiiiis. This is the biggest thing that bothers me about it.
So much cinematic lightwarp hate.
Lightwarps are the base of TF2's shading... when you use it, it's like you're running in DirectX 8, seriously
The Max's one is my favorite. The phongless one look cartoony. Opinions, opinions.
I think the phongless is my favourite of the 3 actually, reminds me of trailer 2.
the cinematic/dramatic lightwarps pretty much looks like no lightwarp at all [editline]6th November 2011[/editline] fixed up this quick comparison picture:
The problem with max's is the shadow is it seems to be a bit too realistic, seeing as TF2 is based off early 1900 American illustrations, it should have shorter, harsher highlighting and shadows, almost as if they're lines, like below. So in short, I feel that it doesn't keep with the artstyle. That's my reasoning on why I don't like it.
holy crap some neat info and references there
I have to do my research. I'm a texturer.
Gentlemens, general check at Tuesday November the 8th *Pics* As you can see, we are getting close to the release.
I love you.
I can't wait for this so much. I'm gonna play even more TF2 when this'll be released.
That is so aesthetically pleasing I think my tears are crying from the sheer beauty
The new textures completely hide the age of the models. It's like TF2 was released last year.
First skin pack I'm actually not only considering, but anticipating! Looking forward to the full release!
the best part is that's so simple and neatly done just as tf2 used to be ;<
It's rather funny to me how you're all so impressed by it yet all I can see is the things i still need to do :v:
That lightwarps looks horrible on everything
I never used to like that warp, but in motion it is BOOTIFUL.

You win when you generate value. If you release an unpolished version of a something genuinely interesting and wonderful, it is amazing what people will forgive. The exact opposite of not enough iteration is to continue to iterate indefinitely and never release the value you have accumulated to a wider audience. There is always room for improvement and always new value to generate. You can get stuck in the trap of constantly cycling through the creative process and never feeling that your product is good enough to release. Pixar's Darla Anderson has a great quote that "we don't finish our films. We just release them" The predetermined release date is a forcing function that ensure they pack in as much value as possible before they are forced to put something out.

http://www.lostgarden.com/2010/08/visualizing-creative-process.html
you're all overreacting i know how they'll look when they're done we just need to make them look like that, thankfully we know how to make them look like that and we will make them look like that so calm down they will be finished eventually like I've said like every page through out this thread also thanks for all the support and enthusiasm, all of you
Ooh, I like this. Only thing that bugs me are the fabric wrinkles on the Demoman's elbow, on the side view.
Just so you guys know, theres a bit of blue paint on the Red Medic's backpack. other than that great job.
Just so you guys know, theres a bit of blue paint on the Red Medic's backpack. other than that great job.
don't blame that on us but we'll fix it if you want
