but it doesn't matter because ingame they all look like they're glowing due to the particles obscuring the actual texture? I guess they should be off though, so they appear to go dim on the ragdolls...

Precisely. Makes sense that once power is lost, the lights would go out.
Even in a hectic gamemode like MvM, details and consistency still matter. You of all people should be on that boat.
I bet you hadn't even thought about the ragdolls, if the particles stayed attached to the ragdolls it literally wouldn't matter at all :|
Actually no, that's something that's annoyed me for a pretty long time, especially when it comes to Garry's Mod / SFM. Texture glow looks pretty bad under that sort of close scrutiny.
It's a case of "once you notice it you never stop noticing it."
I don't enjoy seeing this thread fall through the pages, so have a bump...
anyone got Max's lightwarp? The link earlier in the topic keeps giving me a 404 and I can't find it on his site

He stopped letting people download it
Could the demoman have team colored red and blu gernades insted of cream spirit?
Alrighty now. I've finished the jarate and mad milk effects.

But before I upload them, I'd like to know if my older flying guillotine effect would be acceptable as well.

I'd just like to know before I go through the trouble of cutting up the PCF into separate parts and all that.

I like it.
Hey guys, do you even intend to add options like "not having phong, rimlights, or both"? Because, those features may cost some power from our graphics cards
Also, make sure you update the post on the first page (to be 100% sure nobody's downloading any older versions)

just turn on DX8 if your PC is that weak

Hell no, what makes you think I'd want to do that when problems would occur? This isn't hard to do, to just set the $phong in the VMTs to 0! My machine is fine, no lag whatsoever (mostly because of the up-to-date "older" Source Engine before L4D1, Source Engine 14 in sourcemods is much less stable)
Also, I have a Geforce GTX 460. But I could use some less CPU usage because of the lagspikes, plus this card isn't happy about emulating DirectX 8, only 9 (DX9Ex, DirectX 10 emulation of 9)

If so, why are you asking for it?

What if you want to play without that shiny stuff but keep lightwarps? Some think it makes everything look like plastic. I found a Phongless pack right here, I'd be happy if I could play with some FPS along with mistakes from Valve removed. But again, still see lightwarps
Otherwise, Valve should have given out the option to have Phong shading on or off, like in L4D (lowend.cfg dating back to L4D1 Beta) or post-Portal 2

Alright, I never got a "no" for the guillotine, so I'm going to assume it's ok.
Silly question...but out of all of the texturing jobs, which one is the hardest to work with:
Maps (Floors, Ceilings, Etc.)
Props
Particles/Effects
Classes
Buildings
Cosmetics (Hats and Miscs)
Weapons
You can pick several, if you want.

This isn't a difficult problem to solve.

I want to say cosmetics, particles, or maps.
Is there a way to make the Mad-Milk coat the soaked players with a white layer? Jarate-esque.

Don't let me stop you from making yours, though!
if yours have a spec mask, send em over and save me time :v:
How long do you estimate I'll have to wait for standard-res versions of the class textures?
I don't care for the new particles or weapon/robot/building/model/cosmetic retextures. I'm just interested in inconsistent class design being fixed. And my GPU's a little weak, so the full HD set's a no-go...
[editline]t[/editline]
Huh. Never mind I guess. I installed the pack to test performance anyway and the textures (on Very High) seem to scale to fit my VRAM limit. No clue why but... Carry on!
if yours have a spec mask, send em over and save me time :v:
I actually removed the spec mask, because it was the spec mask of the body and didn't fit well.
New update, new items to fix.
I'm contacting the person who made the items that are in game for the psd's. Congratz to them !
I actually removed the spec mask, because it was the spec mask of the body and didn't fit well.
I meant a custom spec mask made from the diffuse. I'll carry on with my own stuff then :)

Almost done. Just need 2-3 edits.
I want to help with stuff too. :(

Hey there! About the Complete Phongless Pack; Cheppa, the original creator of the pack transferred ownership of it to me, and I've now been keeping it up to date. The reason I'm posting this reply is because I'd love to do some sort of "extras" addition to the Phongless pack, containing VMTs for this Texture Improvement Pack with the $phong option set to 0.
As well, I had previously contacted both Nassim0 and Blaholtzen with a list of console errors generated by the VMTs in this pack, and how to fix them, but I've noticed in the latest prerelease the errors are still present. I did manage to fix them all, but the fixed files got mixed up with my Complete Phongless Pack. I can definitely sort them out, re-pack them up and upload them (with $phong set to 1, obviously).
So yeah, let me know what you guys think about the "extras" option with phongless VMTs for this pack, maybe the TF2 Community Fix pack, and if it's ok with Nassim0 and Blaholtzen, I'll set up an Extras folder with phongless VMTs for this pack.
Oh and since taking over the maintenance of the Phongless Pack, I've since created a nice little website (still under construction), and a Google projects page too for easy SVN downloading!
