Next hat release should be some medievil helmet for the demo. And I'm propably late but just noticed this: In the demo comic, its points that the demo and soldier used to be friends untill they got that weapons offer. This explains the new 'Friendship ends in x seconds' announcer lines.
Have you guys like realised, that Demo + Soldier will both get new taunt that will probably be fatal. Just saying, Snipe n´ Spy got one.
Spy's HAD one, they just gave an achievement for it.
Good god, now I'll finally have something to do when I'm bored. Goodbye melee Heavy!
Spy's HAD one, they just gave an achievement for it.
Nope. IIRC it did exist but did no damage prior to the update.
Tavish Degroot? Names now? Valve?
Wait never mind, it is his.
I lol'd at "headheadheadheadhead" :buddy:
Gimme head! -the eylander
Cons is that it will annoy you with HeAdS hEaDs thing
I hope it doesn't do the heads heads heads thing.
We charge at you and take your head off. You stand no chance.
I wonder what the bottle + sheild animations/taunt will be like.
They'll probably tauntkill.
In the demo comic, its points that the demo and soldier used to be friends untill they got that weapons offer.
Rocketjumps, my friend.
We cant do anything against rocketjumps with or without the new weapons. Unless you are an absolute PRO with the grenade launcher.
As someone who doesn't play the Demo, this may get me to use him a lot more, although I fear it may make melee fights too one-sided. Either way, its' an awesome and unexpected update.
Shield won't have a taunt because it is like Razorback.
This is why i love valve, they acknowledge a classes weaknesses (In this case the Demomans lack of effective close-quarters weapons) and try to fix it, while also not making the class overpowered.

Who else believes that with each update there will be a taunt kill, think about it: Heavy Pyro Scout Sniper Spy Only ones who don't have it are Medic, Demo, Solly, and Engy. Medic, I think, is because it was first.

All the time I thought something was off about the comic and I just noticed it: the Demoman's not drunk. It's weird. Go ahead and rate me late/dumb, but I stand by this weirdness.

They sword's still a melee weapon, and he already has one of those- hell, the bottle's arguably more reliable than the sword because it can randomly crit (which is significant, considering how much damage melee crits do and how high the crit rate is) and doesn't spawn you with reduced health. The Demoman's problem with close-range was his lack of ranged hitscan weapons, and the Eyelander doesn't change that. The targe doesn't really address any of the Demo's issues, either- he was never wanting for speed thanks to sticky jumps, he never had a problem fighting Pyros, and he was never particularly vulnerable to explosives (except his own). I'm sure the charge ability, especially when combined with the Eyelander, will lead to some very interesting tactical possibilities, but on the whole it really feels like something that would be more beneficial for the Heavy (who's very slow and vulnerable to focus fire). And now I get boxes for not assuming it'll be the greatest thing ever.
Wait, can we find these now or do we still gotta wait? If we have to wait, then I misread the thread title (which I do often).

Means you can eat all the self damage you want cause it'll be dealing piss for damage. Lets you gtfo of fights by using the charge, or to gtfi them. It also means that there's now a counter to sticky and nade spam. It does enough, if you ask me. The eyelander on the other hand is just a big gimmick that is only good for melee-only, which is of course, stupid. When thinking about the Targe, think about how it works with the GL, not the claymore.
Now, see, I was thinking about that, but does it really address the Demo's close-range problems? [Words go here]
I think these weapons are more about giving the Demoman control over his spacing than they are about making him super effective (!!!) in close-quarters combat. The Eyelander has, no doubt, slightly more range than a regular melee weapon. Additionally, the speed boost it provides upon a kill will let a demoman gain control over an encounter quickly (depending on the degree of the boost). The targe, which makes the Eyelander endlessly more useful, also allows the Demoman to alter his spacing quickly; he can either charge towards an enemy or away from them. Not to mention, he'll be taking a lot less damage in most scenarios while using it. He's essentially an opportunistic tank, now. I was wondering about the same thing, though.
Sniper got Native American shit Spy got classy shit Demo got scottish shit Solder gets WW2 shit??
