Valve, id really like to wear your various shirts and glasses, as well as humorous class pets. BUT MAKE A FUCKING 3RD SLOT PLEASE.
Someday there will be enough slots for each space (pin/neck/chest/wrist/shoulder/pouch/legs) and we will have as many miscs as we can without clipping
My Cowmangler particles are invisible and all my Medic Viewmodels (except default for some reason) are invisible too.
Particles are because of Chaofnatic's custom particles. Not sure why custom Medic viewmodels aren't appearing, same here.
Particles are because of Chaofnatic's custom particles. Not sure why custom Medic viewmodels aren't appearing, same here.
They changed the name of the animations so all custom Medic viewmodels need to be updated or you just need to rename one file.
Does anyone else think the Dead Ringer nerf was a little uncalled for? My main problem with it is that it is supposed to let you get away regardless of incoming damage. Instead of nerfing the DR, they should have buffed the other cloaking devices, which was done very nicely with the L'etranger. Unfortunately, the L'etranger doesn't work very well with the Dead Ringer in my experience, even with its new buff.
No it isn't. It's supposed to let you feign death...
You can't really do it convincingly anymore nowadays.
You can't really do it convincingly anymore nowadays.
Maybe not you. I've seen people do it just fine.
Usually you can see the spy's body for a fraction of a second. It might just be my computer though.
They changed the name of the animations so all custom Medic viewmodels need to be updated or you just need to rename one file.
It's because of the TF2TIP viewmodels. What are the files I need to rename?
It's because of the TF2TIP viewmodels. What are the files I need to rename?
You just need to get the models/weapon/c_models/c_bonesaw/c_medic_animations.mdl from tf2_misc_dir.vpk and rename it to c_bonesaw_medic_animations.mdl and just put it in the custom folder like any other mod.
No it isn't. It's supposed to let you feign death...
I still think we were doing okay with it for 4 years, Valve didn't seem to think it needed changing during those years. It was designed as a feign death, but it allowed spies to get far enough a distance that they were safe, now they have to run and hope a stray rocket doesn't hit them, and I think it was perfect until the spy-cicle was added, that made it way to powerful imo. I would gladly sacrifice the Spy-Cicle for a proper Dead Ringer any day. I also found the Pomson engineers were good at taking down DR spies, I was killed by them a lot (but I usually managed to rack up a few kills before that). On another note, I find I am getting decloaked a lot by people bumping into me with the DR, regardless of damage, is this a cause of the L'etranger being used with it or something else (I don't think I am picking up ammo either)?
The l'entranger boosts cloak duration by 40%, but the extra time added acts like metal pickup cloak, not super invincible feign death cloak. For good reason. It would be incredibly stupid to have a flaming spy pinned in a corner for a solid ten seconds while he was damn near invincible.

Thanks, though.
No it isn't. It's supposed to let you feign death...
a little of both. People sustain fire a little bit longer than it takes to kill you usually. If it weren't for the damage protection, feigning death would almost certainly be useless as you'd die regardless.
Maybe not you. I've seen people do it just fine.
If you've seen them, they obviously weren't doing a very good job. :v: [SUB][SUB]Sorry, this is joke.[/SUB][/SUB]

I Jarate'd him, chased him and got every single hit with my Kukuri on him, Dead Ringer ends, he shoots me once with his Enforcer and I die seeing him do the laugh taunt with 10 health left.
Well I can see where you are coming from, but I find my self feign death then coming under a barrage of bullets, and when I finally manage to get away my cloak is almost gone and I'm forced to hide in a very nearby spot, this would totally be okay but the Dead Ringer noise is so loud it alerts the whole team where I am. I suppose if they decreased the decloak noise so as to allow spies to hide in closer spots to where the feign death happened, I would find it could work okay, while still being balanced.

I still think it needs a sound decrease, the DR is best used to get through thick enemy lines, it is used very well when you need to get through a large group. Usually a large group likes to spy check, and I do manage to get away, but the decloak noise is just to loud for me to be stealthy. If there aren't large groups I usually use the Cloak and Dagger, but that isn't so useful with large groups. I can understand how the resistance to damage can cause problems, but now that it is removed I find it is hard for me to get far enough to be stealthy due to the obnoxious noise. That is my main problem with it.
Actually, 15% is a lot more with the L'Etranger now. You get 40% more cloak but the whole cloak meter still counts as 100%. In other words, before this update 15% would get you 1.5 seconds of cloak with the default invisibility watch. Now, that same 15% gets you 2.1 seconds. 50% will get you 7 seconds up from 5, or a whole 2 seconds, and etc. For a Spy, this is a huge bonus. You can plan careful ambushes and get a few shots in with your revolver from behind and escape beautifully. The L'Etranger is not a weapon about straight on combat; it's a defensive tool used to buy yourself more time, especially in the event an attack goes tits up. And now it's even more so.
I was referring to the 15% damage reduction, sorry. But that's interesting to hear that the 140 still counts as 100 in terms of regeneration and the like.
the trick about feing death comes from being able to rely on your own ability to trick other people you're alice when you died, eventually leading to people being aware of a dead ringer spy and forcing them to check every time someone dies. you can do something a ssimple as letting someone kill you, be evident about using a dr, and the switch to the regular watch. remember you're meant to toy with people's perception of the battlefield, and distracting people into searching for you is as valuable as any backstab or sap you could perform. hell, i even taunt on some begginers because that is so guaranteed to cause a vendetta agaisnt you, distracting them from their objetives. and i'm pretty sure we all have meet that paranoid sniper who gets stuck swinging his knife around trying to get the spy, just to get killed by someone else.
Okay so I've done some tests with a friend. The Dead Ringer does drop the right friendly disguise. It is only a spy corpse to your team. Also, that Charge N Targe disguise exploit also works even if you disguise as a friendly demoman with the targe. Hopefully that gets patched soon.
So uh, why didn't they fix hydro? I remember hearing more than once that the whole stalemate thing comes from a typo in the respawn times making them near instant. Have they just wholeheartedly abandoned TC now?
