Where's meet the hats valve? >:(

In valve time... silly
I don't play TF2 much anymore, Just not as fun now.
But I will keep it installed, for that one day when I feel like....
Who the fuck am I kidding?

Yet your avatar and name resembles Team Fortress 2 in everyway possible.
I use to run tf2 at a nice 32 fps on average(my computer is old), now I'm lucky to play the first round of a map with 12 fps, and no lag spike. After the 3rd round it balances around 18. Valve, you don't need all those particle effects, moving things, and items that aren't really needed. The class updates gave the classes weapons they needed so they could preform in a different/better way. The new weapons seem pushed out. You can keep us happier by putting out maps and making meet the medic.
I think my big problem is the game doesn't really know what it wants to be anymore
It's got a bit of an identity crisis, I mean, with the new updates and all, it feels a bit to silly for it's own good.
As you've probably seen by now, we like to change things in Team Fortress 2. A lot. And while we're perfect most of the time, we occasionally get something wrong.
What sorts of things will we use the beta for, you ask?
Testing and tuning various class, item, and weapon changes
Testing map changes and variants
Running higher level, game-wide experiments (like doubling player health)
Testing new technologies without the risk of breaking the game
:geno: Need I explain anymore?
This is a stupid argument.
Besides optimization, there's nothing wrong with the game.
The end.
I hate the whole hat-hype, 50% of the conversations about TF2 go about hats...
It all went to shit when trading came into place, honestly I flocked to trade_plaza just for kills but there were people in chat just screaming for items, spamming it like "IF I DON'T HAVE THIS, I'M GOING TO DIE"
Confession: I do like making my model a little customizable but I don't like trading in general unless I got a fuck load of items that mean jack shit to me.
I just don't like the idea of buying my hats, it's what made me stop playing the game. The actual game itself is undoubtedly still great, I just don't like the Mann Co shop, and feeling obliged to buy stuff from it. And the crates are a pretty underhand way for VALVe to make money in my opinion. I never expected this sort of stuff from them.
SO the beta.. It sorta fixed an overpowered weapon, and it's used for testing 2 slightly changed maps, and one minor gameplay mechanic.
What was its purpose for again? Because I can't help but feel it's a complete waste of time.
Though to be fair, it's not like there have been a lot of weapons for them to te-
Oh.

Making the people who use Source Filmmaker feel a little less guilty by making the Beta legal to use :v:
Also, makes up for the "Vanilla TF2" the people on the news section are always talking about and praising like a miracle

Balancing weapons, testing map balance, and testing new gameplay mechanics?

You just showed how they fixed a weapon that people have been complaining about for years, and they're currently testing the spy set. :downs:

The beta is not an excuse to ruin the fun of a surprise update. I'm happy with that.
You know, many people may hate the Mann Co. store and people think it's ruining TF2 and Valve and shit, but you have to look at this through a financial situation.
1. Games, like anything else, require funding, and lots of it. And the longer it takes, the more money is thrown at it for developing time.
2. Paychecks have to be given to everyone at Valve HQ.
3. Valve is currently working on 3 different games: Portal 2, Episode 3, and DOTA 2.
4. Valve hasn't released anything since last year with Left 4 Dead 2.
5. They need money from somewhere to fund 3 different projects don't they? Not to mention one as big as DOTA 2. Sure, they give a cut to the people who originally contributed the items to the Mann Co. Store, but they use the money from there as well as the Valve store (and sales from their games) in order to fund these game projects.
Bitch and moan all you want, Valve would probably be very low on money from what it looks like if they didn't come up with the idea of selling items and creating crates. Valve isn't exactly mainstream like Bioware, Activision, Treyarch, etc.

You forget the almost incredible amount of money valve has earned and is still earning from video game sales and the amount of money it is going to receive with the release of portal 2 and dota

It's not like the sale of the games continue at the same rate all the time. It drops and eventually copies stop selling in large amounts. And Portal 2/DotA 2 aren't released yet so where's your logic in that?
Listen to the commentary for the original Left 4 Dead. At one point they mentioned that they didn't have enough funding to make cars with separate colors and they had to develop a way to basically fake a color arrangement on the cars. That's kinda scary how limited the funding is.
They got a new office this year as well. They went from a little office in a hotel building to a massive new office and you know that didn't come cheap.

I am now no longer able to play TF2.
:frown:
As long as there is combat in TF2, valve did a pretty damn good job.
misleading thread title 2010
misleading thread title 2010
How is it misleading I may ask?
Oh and imo this is misleading thread title 2010: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1041359-US-attacks-North-Korea
I am slightly annoyed by Valve, the Crusader's Crossbow is a good weapon, but it is weak, too weak, I propose the following changes;
+Reload speed increased by 15%
+Close range damage increased by 15%
+Headshots are mini-crits
Also, Medieval Mode is a bit strange with the Medic, on a 100% crit server, he is overpowered as hell, on a normal server, he's arguably underpowered.
>100% crit server
Not sure if 100% crits is ever a legit server option for weapon balance.
All instances of "no random critical hits" should be changed to "weapon can not be damage boosted" (kritzkreig/jarate/BB will not affect damage, still crits at end of round). Balance greatly improved...
the facepunch community is the only part of the TF2 community that i like. that and some exceptions.
most people are elitists and hat collectors, and its hard to work as a team now because of people spamming trade requests in the chat. these things dont affect the game that much for me, but i do miss them. i mean, i still find it fun, i just miss how simple it used to be if that makes any sense.
Right now valve is just throwing shit on an already shit covered diamond.
Whats that command that plays the game without video, just so i can dump myself into a idling server..
my fps is poor, i could barely play orange-x after the soldier/demo update
