Yeah, the medic set has also a hat.
I got the new Demo sword, it's actually not that bad. It extends the charge by 0.5 seconds but in practice it's extra 10-15 meters. Useful for chasing down scouts trying to escape.

It appears that VALVe somewhat wizened up, from what I can see on the weapon descriptions you don't need the hats to get the set bonuses on the new items. You still need the hats for the old polycount buffs, however.
