i think they should be more common of a drop, it's already a bitch to make
Or they could sell them on the store, too...those collectors chemistry sets would probably sell well if they made one for every weapon and put the chemistry sets on the store.
there ought to be a collector's crate that requires 500 crates to create. would make a use for them for those who never unbox

I think that it might be good to introduce "Collector's crafting recipe". It would be in crafting menu and it would require 200 of valid items (no Refined metals or something, only weapons, hats and maybe crates). Because right now that dude with 200 Scatterguns can't do anything with them. And if I remember correcly, he was the first reason why Robin thought about "something for collectors".

has +1% chance to unbox unusual

It'd be nice if it had either a chance for any (regular) weapon, or a chance for any (regular) hat (10~ crates = scrap, 90~ crates = refined, still using 5-6 ref for one hat)
This whole thing looks really annoying to me. It's requiring four empty backpack pages to fill up with crafting components. It'd take 10 minutes just to craft the damn thing assuming it only takes you 3 seconds to click each item, lol.
Methinks the experiment here is "how annoying can we make this process before players universally say the hell with this".

I thought you could load ingredients into the Chem Set so they wouldn't clutter up your backpack though.

Does it work that way? I didn't notice that when I was using the previous round of chemistry sets; thought that when you used them they just acted as a new recipe.
And if it does work that way, what happens if you load up items in the chem set and then delete the chem set?
For those who don't know an Ambassador Collector's chemistry set has appeared on the Market. Still no Engineer Chemistry set and I don't know why :(

Since Caber, Mad Milk, and now Ambassador have Collector Kits, I think perhaps most classes are getting a Collector's weapon this update but with a low drop rate.

In all likelyhood it's probably random; my only hope is that they don't remove it from the drop system.
I've heard rumors that collectors kits turn an item strange, that sounds like bullshit though. Can anyone confirm this?
I know this isn't a weapon fixing megathread, but during the Phlog crit taunt, I think he should have a little force field around him for a brief period, to let players KNOW he takes 70% less damage or whatever that is.
A few pages late, but absolutely. Visualability has always been a priority for Valve, so players can look right at another, and know exactly what they're dealing with, instantly, even if they're new. The Phlogistinator's only indicator of its effect is a crit-glow, which any weapon can have under certain circumstances.
i own 50 mantreads, like 40 jarates and 100~ milks
any of those have a collector version?
The Milk according to the wiki.
Items so far:
- Milk
- Caber
- Ambassador
Hold on.
Collector's Milk?
I don't want to know what that implies.

Dear God, imagine Collector's Jarate...
did a 0 bytes TF2 update happen today for anyone else? What does it mean when that happens?

"Well, the moment has passed. Back to work!"
I feel like maybe this Collector stuff could help put a tiny bump in the metal problem, but the chemistry sets need to be more common for it to work.

It'd help if collector weapons were more desirable. At the very least they should have the attributes of strange weapons and maybe some sort of visual gimmick.
It just feels like Valve wanting to create more shit for people to sell on the Community Market to me.

I like this way of solving metal crisis.
Clever.
I like this way of solving metal crisis.
Clever.
It solves absolutely nothing since they aren't yet widely distributed.
It's like trying to feed excess leftovers from a cafeteria to a single person. All that's consumed is that which can reach that one person, the rest is still remaining as extra leftovers.
so is it safe to assume all weapons can be collector
it's simply randomized by the chem set?
I hope a kunai one shows up. I need it.

There are no stats how much there will be.
These are collector's, after all, so I am not expecting a lot of them on market.
