It's nice how they're gonna add one map that supposedly plays well in pubs, and one that plays well in comp. Edit: I was just playing standin in a pub, and it seemed pretty fun imo.
Sorry, it was amongst the tf2maps.net server and it's not running it anymore.
Ah that's alright, I'll be patient for the update/look for a server running it. Thanks anyways.
process is my favourite 6v6 map. it's so easy to pick up and can be played mindlessly to an extent. it is best map to play in a mix (random group of players, not a team) because it can be played like this. any competitive map that goes official is good in my books!
Now I'm tempted to reinstall TF2. But I fear that it's still going to run like shit to me because of bad optimization.
If this is only the first day... are there going to be more maps made official?

Not to mention with Steampipe the mods doesn't affect the loading time as long you keep them in a .vpk file.
If this is only the first day... are there going to be more maps made official?
Slight chance but doubtful
If this is only the first day... are there going to be more maps made official?
This isn't even really the first day of updates, I wouldn't be surprised if on Monday we got a standard day 1 blog post. Hopefully more community maps get added too. The blog post doesn't say these are the only community maps we're getting, but it doesn't say we are getting any more either so hard to say at this point. The one thing that does give me some hope is that the Lecture Valley teaser page says they opened five new locations (and that's in bold) which kinda implies 5 maps in the Lecture Valley update. It's a pretty fair bet to say that we'll get at least one Valve made MvM map, since someone on Reddit who visited Valve said they were playtesting an MvM map when he was there.
Oh God, please no more robots-related stuff.
Oh God, please no more robots-related stuff.
Plenty of people (me included.) still enjoy MvM. You get at-least 2 new normal maps to play on, we get 1 new MvM map. What's wrong with that?
I wouldn't mind seeing an MvM boss that's actually a boss instead of a Giant or another rolling brick with a fuse. Something that could actually live up to the teaser we got on Day 1 of the update.

Yes, my PC could handle the game at everything maxed before they started adding more shit to the game.
When they say they'll change using Jumpers to "get behind the enemy lines and spawn camp", I seriously hope they don't mean "add invisible walls everywhere".
I can imagine they'll just modify the map layout in accordance to the points that are captured. The screenshot showing the demoman shooting grenades at the RED spawn from the map room - they may just end up sealing that final point until the first two are captured. Just one example.
And unsurprisingly, no server is playing them. All the servers with decent ping are still playing 2fort/dustbowl/orange.
Giant Mecha-Merasmus (Mechrasmus?)
mecharasmus looks better or merasbot
it's interesting how humble this all is. Any other update would have lavish day 1s with lots of art and a fancy website (and vague details). This is just pure Valve talking to the players very simple and straightforward about the patch's contents, with each day being not a huge marketing tool, but rather just to communicate. I don't think this has happened since the days of the first class packs, am I wrong?
You don't know if they're gonna do a day one or not yet. :D
I never got to Sentry Jump to the tops of buildings and shoot people from behind Hell I have never sentry jumped in General [sp];_;[/sp]
If I'm not mistaken, items require having at least 2 LOD models before the item compiler accepts them.
Above 1400 triangles: item can't get in between 1000 and 1400 triangles: have to make LOD1 between 700 and 1000, LOD2 below 700 between 700 and 1000 triangles: only have to make LOD1 below 700 700 triangles or below: no LODs
And unsurprisingly, no server is playing them. I'm sure they'll be quite a few servers running them (and any other map we may get) after the big update.
I'm so glad Valve is adding comp maps to official next they need to add koth_ashville, best koth map imo
Personally my favorite community KotH map is Arctic, I really hope they add it in. I don't think I've ever played Ashville (or at least I don't remember it if I have).
i'm looking foward to swiftwater.

I don't know, but the TF2 team really need to do some new mechanics for new bosses...
I just noticed the map exploit screenshots have mouseover texts. Namely 'We'll miss you, Spawn Room spies.', 'Goodnight, sweet prince that was the roof sentry nest.' and 'Was a good day to spawn camp while it lasted.', respectively. Neat. Also, the implementation of two new community maps is a wonderful thing. I haven't played either but visually at least they look promising. The mapper in question doesn't have any map in the game yet, right?
