I crafted my entire backpack. I have recently discovered that vanilla weapons are incredibly good.
I didn't even log in, I knew I would not be able to craft it.
The only time I've crafted anything other than dupes was when I crafted my found Camera Beard (back when it was common) and my crafted Tossle Cap to make a Modest Pile. I'm happy. Anyway, I just crafted a my dupe Skullcutter with my Pyro token I've been saving up for a hat to create another token, and then crafted the token with a dupe Homewrecker to get my Pyro token back. I just found another Homewrecker and Targe. WHY DID I CRAFT!
Best not to risk crafting everything.

I actually thought the purpose of the golden wrenches was to get people to craft their dupes, so that when the upcoming items come out (including the Polycount Pack), we don't have the items we need to craft those items right away.
It worked for me, I crafted all my dupes into metal. Was about 10 crafts. Should have saved it all for the upcoming packs. Oh well.
arggh i hate to admit but i fell for it as well.sigh,at least,i got myself halfway to crafting a hat.fun.only thing is,i now lack half of the class weapons(well,the ones i never really use(looking at you,backburner and F*g a n00b).sigh,cunning,if not trolling on Valve`s part. but i won`t trade jack shit,just to get the reg items back.

Honestly I even wonder if it's gonna affect the balance of the game somehow

wrench is completely cosmetic
wrench is rarer
wrench has a cool effect
i'm effective with my classes with any unlocks or vanilla weapons
i'd craft my inventory for a chance at a golden wrench any day
I fucking fell for it. And that day I got 4 hats.
Only one survived.
But, since I've been playing and idling I've gotten back more weapons that I've had in a month.

I crafted my two hats and got the Officer's Ushanka but I liked the other two more.

I crafted a couple of items I didn't really use much (except the Übersaw, stoopid stoopid!), to get my last refined metal. It was the first hat I would actually craft, so I got all nervous, but eventually I hit the "Craft it!" button.

I then crafted that with Texas Slim's Dome Shine, and got the Modest Pile of Hat, and am pretty happy with it now.
I only will craft the shit I don't need so I'll keep all my weapons and hats except they are repeated.

At least all this crafting resulted in a big leap forward to a new hat for me.
Also with polycount items coming up, this whole idea means that people will have less metals to craft into polycount items, thus making them more rare and further increasing play time of its user base who want the new content.
Makes sense to me and i won't be crafting anything anyway, if there is only 100, i'd rather not be part of that marginalised 100, they will literally get the rage of the entire playerbase directed at them wherever they go. One guy said "the wrench is a curse" and i definitely agree. I think i'd end up un-equipping it, the amount of rage you'd get when playing would be retarded.
Wow. I attempted to taunt kill people today and every damn time I realised I crafted my ubersaw. So they killed me while I played music on my saw. :sigh:
