I don't think it matters that the Heavy isn't white, and the Demo isn't black.
I'm sure you have noticed that it is very unlikely that these characters are relatives to the ones they are counterparts of.
Aside from the obvious Heavy being black, and the Demoman being white, the Spy is asian and the Pyro is freakin' Abe Lincoln :v:

I think the texture should be more like the picture, that would make it looks a lot more like the engineer in the photo.
