Oh, it is possible. It is just a hud edit. Maybe we could change the font if that is what he is asking, but it is possible to edit the looks of it. We can not just edit the actual display. We can not mess with the input that goes to the hud. It would HAVE to be numbers. I am more of a code monkey, so the best thing I can get to in TF2 is editing the hud and making scripts.
Really? Valve's system is flexible enough to change the textual ammo counter to an actual array of images through editing simple text files? I'd be impressed. I was assuming you'd have to modify the actual source code to do that.
So I was thinkin and here are some ideas i came up with: Severed bear/eagle head hat-heavy Grimace hat -heavy hamburgular-spy french foreign legion hat-spy Wretling mask-heavy napoleon's admiral hat-spy farmer's straw hat-spy gondolier hat-spy cheap toupee-heavy I realize most of these suck but what do you think?

I am not sure where the font format is, but in each text containing hud, there is a place to tell what font style and font to use when displaying the text. It is a kind of work around, but it can happen. All the GUI and hud elements are available to edit, so you can see how easily it can be done. Now, there is potential to create a new font type and use it for a single hud element, but I am unsure of the location of the file that tells us what fonts are where, their type name, if it is bold, etc. I am pretty sure though, that it would be accessable. I also found out you can edit the chat box colors if you wish.
Oh I dunno... Cromartie High School is pretty manly.
Cromartie High school?

Because if we'd do that there would be this thing with trying to visualise 43 bullets left.
Correct me if I'm wrong but you're suggesting making a new font with very high characters, and then have '1' be a single bullet at the bottom and '9' nine stacked bullets? This totals to 18 bullets maximum on screen. | = 1 | | = 2 Etc. Or we could go with the whole roman numerals thing and take on a different shape every 5 or so units ! | = 4 ! = 5 This all would be done when creating the font file it's self. When it shows up on the hud, it would end up just stacking next to each other. The user would eventually have to learn to read it. It would all be fancy numeral replacements.
Long explanation The user would eventually have to learn to read it. It would all be fancy numeral replacements.
That's what I was talking about :v: Fancy illustration of concept though.
That's what I was talking about :v: Fancy illustration of concept though.
A better idea is to just replace all the TF2 fonts with wingdings and go wild with enjoyment of the lack of legible text in the game :D I thought you were talking about putting 43 bullets in the hud. That would be crazy screen space you could be using to SHOOT PEOPLE IN THE FOOT AS SNIPER.
See? That's what I was missing. I just showed that I have the Female Scout, I was expecting a shit storm. I'm slightly disappointed, I thought it was the Duke Nukem Forever of the Emporium.
Because it will never be released to the public.
because it will never be released to the public.
it has to, it ar best scoot mod in world !!!!1!!!!11!
Because it will never be released to the public.
Oh, you know that's not true. If AyesDyef wouldn't or couldn't finish his Female Scout mod for whatever reason I'd do it for him. Uncle Royzo wouldn't let a mod like that die. Also, I think I'm going to host the third instalment of the TF2 Emporium anyway. At the time there was a hefty amount of dumb ratings on the first post, it convinced me that this thread series wasn't necessary any more. Right now though I'm convinced by Facepunch's support to host at least one more Emporium.

Hey, I had an idea, and I want to know if it could be done. Whilst running around as Scout bonking heads in with my Baseball bat, I was wondering if there was any way someone could mod it to gradually get bloodier, like it does in L4D2? Also, maybe when you get a melee kill, the blood effects could splatter on the screen. I'm not gruesome, I just like the l4d2 details, and was hoping tf2 could see them.
TF2 was made without the ability to throw blood on the screen on top of each other, or at all for that matter. So I doubt it. It could be a server mod, but that would be hackish like 99% of them are.
you guys should make a correct Ghost balaclava with glasses for the spy. the other guy's has potential, but it doesn't look right without the glasses.
By 2012, we'll be up to Tf2 mod emporium #20, won't we? That would be cool.....
this is already like 11 i nthink, im not sure though.
TF2 modding is very limited. Basically all we can do is change resources, for example new materials/models/particle files, and some changes in the .res files for different compositions of HUD and menu elements. Anything that actually goes beyond replacing or editing files is impossible. [editline]11:59PM[/editline]
this is already like 11 i nthink, im not sure though.
It would be 'Damao's Mod Emporium v11'. But we started to count all over again because of the name/host change.

I'm slightly disappointed, I thought it was the Duke Nukem Forever of the Emporium.
I used to have the Female Scout. [sp]I deleted my 6 gig tf folder because my game was slow and Ayes hasn't given it back to me, though. :([/sp] :respek:
Why is no-one surprised I have the Female Scout :v: ?
Does your build have faceposing? Ayes never gave me the flex files (I never bothered asking) so mine one kept trying to use the male flexes (I never fixed the QC) so her face kept randomly spiking, it was pretty good stuff.
Crap! My appologies, looking back it was yours. It looks brilliant but are you planning on doing custom animations for it?
Indeed I am! New sounds as well. But of course if the new sounds are not your thing you can remove them. Now with this visual bullet representation, would it be possible at all to take the hud from DOD:S, and move it to TF2? That would probably be simpler than having to make all of those images. The only thing would be the chaingun and the sniper rifle. Considering that do not have reserve ammo, instead of trying to squeeze 200 bullet pictures onto that hud, you could just go Call of Duty style instead. :smug: [Each (-) is a bullet.] (------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------) So basically what I am saying is I predict it to have a beautiful array of problems, and it would not be worth the grief it gives you. Also if you were trying to use the minimal hud option in the multiplayer tab, it would be even more of an ugly mess. :barf:
I'm pretty sure NeoDement said that changing the ammo counter HUD was impossible. [editline]04:38PM[/editline] Or at least in that sort of way.
I have no evidence to support what I said, it may be possible because the flashlight has a recharge bar like that, but I say it's most likely impossible because it would have been done by now.

All the ones on FPSB nowadays are usually made by the newer folk to skinning, (they suck) and all the best ones left or stopped skinning. FPSB in '06 was just awesome, but now it's gone.. D:
gif me it
Hell, I think honestly he should let it loose into the world to everybody, and push the voice pack aside as a later idea. I mean it's nearly impossible to find 'dem womens who are TF2 nuts *AND* good candidates for voices!
