EDIT: So I have a win and a disagree. I need a little more feedback if I should make this for the spooktacular update.
I disagreed in that I don't think it fits the "spooky" update. Don't get me wrong, I do think it is an interesting item, just that I don't see how a Steam train item fits the spooktacular update.
It all depends on the texture really. If it's got spooky blood, and like an eerie ghost glow coming out of it, then yeah, you got yourself something spooky. Then if you paint it up like a train, because you like trains, well, then you've got something completely unrelated to Halloween.

Here let me make a pie that the Heavy eats that is....a ghost pie! and has blood! And eyeballs inside the pie!
kind of doing a living top hat already, this picture is out of date but yeah!
Well, that's cool. Maybe add glass around it like in my concept?

I kinda had a "Ghost Train" idea running through my head. Only problem is I wouldn't know how to execute it correctly.
Alrighty gents, take two on the pyrosaurus. People wanted lack of ice, so I took out the ice: I added a tail in as a bonus!
depends, how are you making them? you could open the red and green channels in Photoshop and up the contrast I suppose. As long as you remember the keep the flat parts at 50% gray
I used this thing which probably isn't the best way to go.
One thing I was trying to suggest is you could make up a girl's tv cartoon logo, since you are saying he's dressing up as a girl, so why not have a logo of something girls like? If you're going for something so super simple an option would be to remove the buckle entirely, not all skirts need belts, just elastic bands.
The problem with a logo like that is that it probably wouldn't be legible unless you're right next to it. I guess you could say that about pretty much anything since it's such a small space, though. I dunno. And having no buckle is pretty much not an option because his default buckle is so big that modeling the belt or whatever over it would make it look really odd.
Is this what your refering to? That could work, but if his intention is to get it in game, an item like that could not be certified and even ignoring certification, it's unlikely Valve would accept an item using that method. Not sure about being made into a mod though.
That's what I meant, in a way, but I also had the idea that it could also work with normals, but nope.
yeah it'd be cool if you could have a face perfectly overlaying another, and set it to no_draw, and the engine gets confused and erases it but tis a pipedream
Is that a reproduction from last year? It looks familiar.
yes indeed

Just up the contrast on the heightmap. The darker you make the inscription the deeper it will appear
Any further texture feedback?
smoothing looks weird, and phong on the hat too high
Any further texture feedback?
the leather looks a bit rubbery. Don't know if it's just me that sees that though.

here's a concept I came up with. DELL'S DELI
Simple cultist/vampire type collar for Engy, nothing special. Smoothing groups, weighting, texturing, normal/cloth folds, etc not done. Have to adjust to avoid clipping with some hats.

And even if they're supposed to be something different, they look tacky and unfitting.
Why would you put piercings on a collar? Like come on. And even if they're supposed to be something different, they look tacky and unfitting.
I honestly feel piercings and such have no place in TF2, I don't know if I share this opinion or not (the Bicorne being an exception I guess) but I don't think they were that acceptable to be worn back in the late 60s or whenever?

Okay, okay. I've got this. While train themed items were a bad idea for Halloween, I've come up with something better. [T]http://i.imgur.com/40Us1Fy.jpg[/T] MINIOCULUS! About half way done with it, and I hope its better than my last idea :P

As of now it's just under 1,000 polys, so most likely a floating pet. Originally it was just going to be eyeballs for a nade replacement (Which I still might do) for the Pyro, Soldier, and Demo.
