Question. The facial flexes work perfectly when I compile and test with the item importer. However when I use Item Toast to repack them as skins the flexes don't work properly. Any idea why?

Make an alpha channel in photoshop with the part of the texture you want to glow white and everything else black, then turn self illum on in the vmt.

I actually was trying to make selfillum for an item as well, tried that, and it didn't work at all. I tested it in the model viewer and it just had normal effects

Did it have more than one material? Because with self illum I usually just reserve my second material slot for the self illum texture.

Yeah, it has 2 materials. The first is supposed to be a self illuminated head, and the second is supposed to be an additive, paintable surface. Does the order matter?

The one that's additive has an alpha channel to dictate what's paintable, and with the selfillum part, it has a full white alpha layer with nothing else toggled on the vmt screen

Yes, I've had some concerns about this myself, So far, the clipping isn't actually very bad in terms of the main weapons, but I'll have to see how it goes with the two handed melee animations.
Luckily, that helmet was easiest to make of the lot. And subsequently: Easy to modify.

We just figured out in the Emporium thread that a fully white alpha layer won't trigger the self-illum. Try just putting a single black dot on the alpha and try it again.
