R.I.P Roughly a month and a half of work.
Someone gifted the entire server 60 crates each person. Real tears right now.
This is actually the best thing ever because when this happened, Naughty Crates were going for about 20-30 cents, made nearly 5 bucks off crates
you are never granted a chance to get in just because you upload stuff to the workshop. if your stuff didn't get in this time, deal with it and work harder next time.

I beg to differ. A lot of the popular artists like NeoDement are usually guaranteed at least ONE item to get in due to popularity and continued uploads when it comes to events like Xmas, Easter, Summer etc.

Yeah, famous contributorsn always get something in. But they also suffered and worked hard to be where they are. I wouldnt mind new faces though.

The reason being is because your set had weapons in it, you know how they feel about new weapons.

Oh gee whiz, I sure am sorry for being upset! I guess I'll just go and switch off my "sadness" functions, then.
In other news, does this whole update feel... unpolished, to anybody else? I'm fairly certain 100% of the new content is community made. Barring maybe the gift-a-pault and such.
No new weapons this entire year. That really stinks. And now they couldn't even be assed to give us a proper update page for Christmas? I mean, we even got an update page for the two cities stuff.
I'm hoping this doesn't become a trend.

I just don't think this update was Valve's top priority, which is why they kinda reassured everyone saying that next year will be better (which, who knows, maybe they'll have a major update within the next month or two)
The reason being is because your set had weapons in it, you know how they feel about new weapons.
They've taken cosmetics and ignored other parts of the set before.
My one major fear is sending crap to inactive accounts.
I'm fairly sure they go to accounts that are currently in-game.
This whole ARG business does give me a bit of hope..
Not much, and I am still going to be a huge grump about all of this and silently resent all you talented bastards who got your stuff picked (I WILL MURDER YOU ALL IN YOUR SLEEP) But a small shred of hope is better than nothing.
I'm just hoping it's not more MvM-centric stuff. I like MvM, but I feel like Valve is ignoring the rest of the game.
So you were the one who got all the new weapons and maps.
yeah they're great

I wonder how different TF2 would be in 2067.
Probably just more hats.
I found the files for them. Not sure whether to put them in speculation thread or here
anyways I found these.

These were in the same folder as the image of the bulletin board

These were in a folder called "props_teaser" and were respectively Update_poster001/002 and Update_billboard.
Possible ARG on our hands? Seems so. Especially with those numbers on each picture.
So we're going to space in 2014?

A lot of people get mad at certain people getting repeated inclusion in updates, and I feel I've come under fire recently too. But it really comes down to just doing a bunch of work at a consistent rate. And if you keep it up, you get better. If you get better, well, then your chances probably increase. But that's because the work you output is higher in quality than before.
If you don't get items in one update, try, try again. Don't dwell on updates of the past, look towards items of the future. And don't focus all your time and effort on one item and funnel all your hope into that one item, no, bet on all the horses instead.
Allegedly some people are against me recently for all the items I've gotten in in the recent months. I feel they should note that all the items I've made have been with dozens of other contributors, and some of them have led to first-time self-mades. But oh no, I worked on it also, that means down with void, he got more items in again. But what about the other people I worked with, huh? Play nice.

Oh im not taking a stab at it, I'm just saying they're more likely because they've done this stuff all before, they know what to do and have got that experience and perseverance to boot.
well that's kinda silly, why would they add that?
Maybe since people who use the Sandman are used to launching the ball with their right click, so making the guillotine launch with the same button makes it easier to combo.
I somehow got 3 festive sappers in a row

:<
[sp]I got a festive Enforcer and GRU anyway so hopefully I can just trade the spare sappers for other festive items.[/sp]

Can you blame us?
A lot of people released similar items this year, for instance. And yet the people who'se items got in are mostly people who are already part of the contributor list.
There were at least 4 pyro winter coats this year, as an example. My own, Sparkwires, and two others from (I believe) new faces.
Sparkwire's got in. There were 3 "new" faces that could have been picked, but his got in (yes I know his looked a lot nicer than ours, too but I digress)
Sometimes we can't help but feel cheated as the same people get in time and time again. We know it's not like you're doing something to force this, it's all down to Valve. But it still sucks when you spend ages pouring effort into items, only for other people who already have a half-dozen self mades to get even more self mades.

The problem is that Valve seems to just choose items at random. Half the new stuff we got in this update doesn't even make sense considering the theme. The Dictator, slo-poke, minnesota slick, Mann of house, dogfighter, highland high heels, tartan tyrolean and marshall's mutton chops are all nice items and i'm glad they've got in, but they shouldn't of been added with this update. It's like they just picked a few items at random and decided to go with it anyway. Those items could of been added at any time, whereas it's unlikely we'll get winter themed items at any other time of the year. There are many other items that should of got in instead of those. It's nothing to do with hard work, there are lots of highly rated, fitting, well made items that didn't get in while things that are completely out of place with this update did.

Well first off, the Sub-Zero Suit and Blizzard Breather were the highest-rated, most-popular, certified-compatible items of all time before they were added. So there's that.
And really, don't get mad at us. Don't hold grudges against people for getting a bunch of items in over yours. It's not our doing, nor is it yours. It's all on Valve's end.

Also the Minnesota Slick was based off the character Gaear Grimsrud from the movie Fargo, a very popular movie set in winter.

Okay maybe the winter pyro coats were a bad example. But the point remains that we see the same contributors getting picked over and over every single time an update runs like this. It isn't fair to get angry against you guys - I fucking love the majority of the items that have gotten into the game thanks to all of you. But with that said, we can't control how we feel, either.
We put all this time, effort and care into trying to compete with the "big boys", only to have Valve shove our items out of line once again. It's incredibly disheartening to see somebody with 10 self-mades get another 5 in one fell swoop while our items are, figuratively, tossed into the trash.
It's almost like if we're not working with one of you big-name contributors, we have next-to no chance of getting in on our own merits. There were some fantastic items made this year by newcomer artists that completely disregarded. And here you are with a half-dozen new self-mades and a few extra figures on the end of your monthly pay-packet.
Yeah, it's down to valve. No, it isn't right to get angry at you. But at the same time, how exactly are we supposed to feel in this situation? There's the requisite "quit bitching and try again next year." But if I was in physical vicinity of anybody who said that right now, I'd probably throw something at them, no matter how correct the statement may be.
I guess I'll just have to steer clear from the forums for a while. This is the second holiday event where I've made a set that's been ignored while big-name contributors get multiple entries picked. I feel like I'm being punished for something. Which is a stupid thing to feel, but I feel it anyway.

We all started small. Status is a ladder that you have to climb.
I'm not a big name.

You have 52 self-mades and a community item.
Half of your default backpack is due to things you contributed to TF2.
Sorry to break it to you, pal. You're a big name.
As for me, I've been climbing that status ladder for two years and I haven't made it past the first rung.

No offense, but the itemset you made just doesn't look good. That's the main reason they didn't add it.
At the same time, my Internet has fully recovered.
BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!
Never mind, it's still broken.
Dude with all due respect with the landslide amount of items you gained in the last few major updates your definitely up there in most of our eyes.
I made nearly 50 items over the past few months with dozens of contributors. I did a lot with a lot of people. But come on, let's look at the people I worked with instead. I'd feel more like a big name if I did all this myself. But I didn't. There's literally dozens of people I worked with to make these items happen. But instead you focus on me. The "big names." What about everyone else?

That's certainly not the response we got from the workshop.
Granted, we also got a lot of apparent 12 year olds complaining that the shotgun shot flares and asking what the stats on the snowblower were.
But either way, you do realise putting "no offense" in front of a comment like that makes it twice as offensive?
Just a pet peeve of mine.

The important thing is, your name is on all of those items. Do you think half of them would they have gotten in if you hadn't worked on them?
Names mean a lot. Plus I think you're writing yourself out too much. I dunno exactly what it is you do for most of these items but it must be something pretty friggen significant.
Either way, our anger just focuses itself on the ones who seceded the most. That means you. You're the proud owner of a half dozen new self-mades and we're sitting here with jack squat. You're the rich businessman who just made winning investment. We're the hungry orphans who got ignored.
Now why don't you just step into this nice dark alleyway over here.

What do I do for my items? I've textured all of them. Most of them, I did the original concept art for. I did a lot of work to get where I am right now.
It takes a lot of work to get anywhere in life, but the last thing you want to do is tear yourself apart with anger and jealousy of one another and give up all hope.
