Oh my god, they did super well with the new festives! They look great!
Some of them don't look that nice (GRU) but especially the Festive Eyelander is awesome.

You might say it looks rather GRUsome.
I wish a non-garish festive eyelander existed. Having a sword with an ice blade would be amazing.
the festive weapons have gotten progressively more jarring and over-the-top. adding stupid shit like candy canes, wrapping paper, bells, giant yellow bulbs, etc. just screams "trying too hard". i think the festive jarate was well done though, a lot more subtle.
as for the rest, they should have just wrapped lights on them and called it a day, just like the 2011s. some of this shit doesn't even make sense- why is heavy eating wrapping paper, or how is the sapper supposed to attach to the sentry if it's completely covered in wrapping paper and a bow?
I kinda had a lot to say about this, so I wanted to save more of it in case i had time to make a blog or whatever but
I feel like the real issue is the game's age, same with the writing getting progressively goofier and other cosmetics just getting more and more attention grabbing.
Since the game's stylized, and the humor is silly and surreal, it keeps raising the stakes as to what would be considered exaggerated enough to be notable.
I remember thinking the lights around a gun in 2011 seemed more gaudy than what we're doing now, since it was more attention-grabbing than what was already out there.
Next year, they're going to have to think of something that wouldn't be underwhelming after having done a candy-striped FaN. Even the Jarate (which I also love, actually! It and the Eyelander are the only ones I want this year) involves an entirely new weapon design.
I, uh, don't really have a point with this, though. Just sayin'.
i wish TF2 had really high quality and stylized cosmetics like the cool cat cardigan, track terrorizer, weight room warmer, gold digger, business casual, outback intellectual, etc back when you could take the game somewhat seriously
Ugh, I can't play the game at all now. The screen just goes black and returns to desktop.
